Indian Food in Phoenix

Jewel of the Crown--the thickest palak paneer I've ever had. The naan bread was so dry that it required lots of water to down.

Where are the Good Restaurants (Non-Chain) in Surprise, AZ ?

Went to Line Thai--that place is not that great. I won't be going back there. It's good if you're craving Thai & that's the only place in town.

Must eat places in Atlanta

I just went to The Pecan Restaurant for some wonderful southern food along with other globally inspired items on the menu. I had their Curry Carrot Ginger Soup with lumpmeat crab & decorated with what tasted like a small fried something (sweet potato?) that was cinnamon dusted. That was wholesome yet not heavy and perfect for a light rainy day. I also had their delicious Blackened Tilapia Filet with Cajun Creme Sauce. Such a perfect balance of sauces with freshness infused in the dish. I loved it! Wish this restaurant was where I lived.

What would you recommend at Rio Mirage? I'm thinking about going there.

Where are the Good Restaurants (Non-Chain) in Surprise, AZ ?

Thanks for all the recommendations! Am still looking for more recommendations---those right in Surprise as they open up.

I found another two restaurants I enjoy--they're not in Surprise, though. One is Mariscos y Comida Mexicana. They make fresh tortillas, handmade daily (both corn & flour ones). Delicious fish tacos. Everything is made fresh. It's a new restaurant and the waitresses are very nic. Very reasonable prices. 8427 W Peoria Ave, Peoria in a non-assuming shopping plaza. (623)773-3220

Nam Sao Vietnamese Restaurant is my favorite Vietnamese in the area now, even though I have to drive 30 min to get there. Family-owned restaurant. I like their Thit Nuong Ot Cay--Grilled Spicy Treats (I had shrimp sprinkled with sweet chili sauce, sauteed and served with rice vermicelli, vegetable, rice paper, and peanut or fish sauce---you roll your own summer roll wrap),pho, Bun Bi Cha Gio Chay- Tofu & Vegetable Egg Roll Vermicelli Salad---delicious egg rolls come with that. I always mean to have their fried bananas because I love that dessert, but never seem to find room for it. It's at 4349 West Bell Rd, Glendale, AZ 85308. (602)439-5025.

Let me make a correction--I have had some dishes I wouldn't rave over, but I love Babbo's particularly for the Pasta Valducci (artichokes, kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, garlic, in a pink sauce) and that's what I usually get. My boyfriend likes the Babbo's bowl of bolognaise and that's always been very good. Their focaccia bread served with olive oil & balsamic vinegar is delicious also.

I had their pizza once and wasn't too impressed. It's not very authentic Italian either.

The only one that I frequent in Surprise is Babbo's Italian Eatery at 15609 W. Bell Road. Wow, such yummy food!!! I've been going there nearly every week. Such delicious Italian food.

I want more recommendations--seems like most places are all chain-restaurants. Any recommendations in Peoria, Glendale, Litchfield, or Avondale is appreciated. Thanks!

Advice on Santa Fe: Cafe Pasqual, Geronimo, The Compound, etc

Not impressed at all with The Compound. Went there for lunch on a Saturday, and the food tasted like bar food. The menu consisted of burgers (with fries), softshell crab (with fries), etc. The chocolate desert I had was very dry. I was rather disappointed.

Best gelato in Santa Fe

Hands down, it's Gelato Benissimo. Light & fluffy, flavorful and handmade daily--I love it! The gelato is made from organic milk. Flavors range from stracciatella, vanilla, mint chip, cappuchino, lavender, to strawberry, passionfruit, and guava. Yum. Different flavors every day, depending on what's in season/available. 328 Montezuma Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87501 (505) 984-9104. It is kind of hidden from the street, behind Fatso (bar, I think). The place is a gem & I think it would be more popular if it weren't so hidden. Regulars frequent it, though.

By the way, I went to Ecco Espresso & Gelato from other reviews & it was horrible. Super sweet and not much flavor. I was rather disappointed. I have been very selective about my gelato since I've traveled to Italy.

Tempe: Korean or Indian dinner recommendations?

Try Hodori Restaurant (for Korean). It's not right in Tempe but it's close. They make their own tofu there & it's delicious. Lots of people get the Korean BBQ & seem to be happy with it. 1116 S Dobson Rd Suite 111. Zip code 85202

Looking for cheap Reno buffets!

If you like Indian food, the Indian Curry & Kebob Restaurant has a great lunch buffet $6.95. It's close to Virginia & Vassar. It's excellent!

San Jose Airport...Locals, please help

San Jose Airport...Locals, please help

I was near the San Jose Airport a few months back and saw a Asian large complex with many restaurants (Chinese, Japanese, etc) and stores that was close to the freeway. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the place, nor the nearest streets.

Anyone know this place and can tell me where it is? I remember having good Japanese noodles and yummy bakery items at the Chinese bakery. I noticed a grocery store and many other kinds of stores. Thank you so much for your help!

Ethnic food in Phoenix

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant is Pho Bang---get #35 marinated thinly-sliced beef & shrimp that you grill at your own table. Add deliciously fresh cilantro, cucumbers, lettuce, etc. to make your own summer rolls. It is fabulous! I love their marinated grilled pork over rice--yum!! Their pho is decent also.

Go when you have time to relax & not be on schedule. The service is very slow.

Lots of Vietnamese people go there...1702 W Camelback Rd # 13, Phoenix, AZ 85015.

I was very excited to try this restaurant, but was disappointed. I didn't find the food extremely authentic. It's more of a pan-Vietnamese restaurant.

Convention in Reno

I went to 4th Street Bistro tonight--had the Maine scallops risotto and the chocolate ganache. The scallops & risotto were flavorful, however, the whole dish was very salty. The chocolate ganache was wonderful. Am not sure if I'd go back--I was surprised at how salty the scallops dish was for a fine dining restaurant. My bill came to $44 without tip. (I had water).
