I left some batches in a little longer than others just to see which I preferred. So, some have brown edges, some don't. The broken cookie you see on the bottom ended up on 2 sections of a piece of parchment paper. Weird!

I just baked the cookies last night and they are REALLY delish! I used a mini ice cream scoop, dipped the glass in organic large grain sugar, flattened the dough, then sprinkled with...sprinkles! When I ran out of sprinkles, I used mini-chocolate chips. These cookies remind me of the ones from the Italian and Jewish bakeries in Brooklyn that they sell by the pound. They are nice and crispy and taste great the next day.
My son likes a chewier cookie, so he wasn't impressed. But my hubby, other son, and the office gals loved them.
The cookies I'm still thinking about are the ones I buy at Zaro's in Grand Central. They are a bit larger, crumbier and thicker. I'm thinking about using a bigger ice cream scoop to make these jumbo sized.

Pricing is fairly comparable. Which would be your choice for a large group luncheon? We need a private room where we can have several speakers and presenters. Lots of foodies in attendance.

I love Black and Whites, and those look like great recipes, but the B/W cookies are softer than the Sprinkle Cookies. No frosting at all on the sprinkles, probably just an egg wash to get the sprinkles to stick. Thanks for your quick reply though!

Anyone have a recipe for those great big bakery sprinkle cookies? I've been searching for hours and I can't come up with anything even close. It's a jumbo sugar cookie - very dense and crunchy - and it's covered with sprinkles on top so you can't see the cookie at all. They have them at NYC bakeries and diners. Thanks for your help!
New restaurant in Orange, CT - Ole Martini. Anyone been... can't find it, but want to go
Just returned from a delicious dinner at Ola Martini tonight. The place was packed, but we had reservations. The guacamole is made right at the table! We shared a lobster quesidilla appetizer too. I had a delicious sugar-cane rubbed salmon dish with quinoa. And the Mango Mojito was first-rate! This is a must-try restaurant in our sleepy little town.
Heavenly Donuts in Derby, CT - Thanksgiving pies?
Just picked up my morning coffee at Heavenly Donuts and noticed a sign in the drive-thru window to order Thanksgiving Pies. Apple and Pumpkin. I asked, and they are $8 each. Thinking of getting one of each to bring to my family's T'giving dinner in NYC. I love their donuts, and I'm willing to give the pies a try.

Oh, how I wish Markt could accomodate us! I spoke to Sam this week, and he didn't think he could handle a large group just yet. And I've been hearing such good things about Markt too.... It would've been perfect.

Private room for 70, 55th st, 6th ave vicinity?
Just wanted to add an update - we held our Sniffapalooza event this past weekend, and ended up booking Seppi's for lunch. Our group of 107 people was delighted by this restaurant. The food was very good, portions generous, and service (except for a table or two whose food arrived a little late,) was excellent. We had the entire restaurant for our party, it was very well-staffed, and the courses flowed.
Frank, the manager, gave us a very reasonably priced prix fixe menu, which included tax & tip, with a soup or salad appetizer, chicken/steak/or pasta primavera entree, and the most delicious chocolate flyer cake dessert with fresh raspberries and sherbet. I would highly recommend Seppi's if you have a similar large crowd.
I did call some of the other suggested restaurants, but their prices were double what Seppi's quoted me, they couldn't handle as many people as we had, or they wanted bartender fee's, room rental fee's, etc. Seppi's turned out to be the perfect choice, and we will use them again for our next event.

I'm not sure if there is any place that would take a large group in a private room for just coffee/dessert. Does anyone know of such a place? We are a special interest group (fragrance) and we will have several speakers, which is why we need the private space. Thanks!

We are a group of fragrance-enthusiasts that meet a few times in NYC (from across the country, Canada and Europe!) to shop together and preview all the new perfume releases. My friend and I run the events, which we call "Sniffapalooza". We have speakers at our events, and often perfume workshops at the end of the meal. We need a private room, so we don't disturb the other diners. Don't really need a fancy party room, not decorating or having live music.

Lunch for a large group near Dolby 88 (MGM screening room)- 6th at 55th
Anyone know of a lunch place near this screening room for a large group (50-75) that has a private room and good food? Everyone will pay his/her own way ($25 range), and we don't want to get stuck with $$$ deposits on the room. Just need place with a good meal (or everyone will complain!) that is private enough for our speaker to talk.
