Drinks After Locanda Verde

Last week we "discovered" the lobby bar of the Tribeca Grand Hotel for after dinner drinks and loved it. It's a huge, cavernous space in the atrium with lots of private booths and seating areas for a group of your size. Very nice ambience, low mood lighting and a great 7 story view.

looking for a great food experience. any recs?

RGR-
Any photos from Scalini Fedeli and/or recent reviews? I haven't been on this board for a while but remember how thoroughly informed and knowledgeable your reviews are. My wife and I will be dining at SF Saturday evening and as it will be our first visit, we would like some menu insight.

We are also very interested in settling in to a romantic, off-the-beaten-path after dinner place for drinks before dragging ourselves back to the suburbs. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dessert/post meal hangout

Hi all,

It's anniversary time again and my wife and I will be @ Scalini Fedeli Saturday evening and was wondering if anyone can suggest a "cool" after dinner spot downtown.

I mentioned dessert in the title but the place doesn't necessarily have to serve dessert at all, we're really looking for a nice, somewhat quiet, dimly lit place for a nightcap that's down in that area of town.

Thanks for the help.

I did attend a luau at the Sheraton. It was good-but the cuisine wasn't very memorable. I'm not even sure that would be a reflection on the hotel's regular menu or not. Otherwise, we ate mostly at the Westin.

By now you probably made your plans, but, since you mentioned the Westin-I stayed there a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time. My wife and I split two weeks there and the Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island.

The Westin website is advertising a Thanksgiving buffet at On'O, for $52 (in case $$ was an issue). I do remember the restaurant as being very good.

Enjoy, Happy Thanksgiving...and I am very jealous.

Anniversary dinner

A couple of years back I attended a dinner party at the home of a good friend, and the chef they hired that night was a good friend of theirs named Marco-who mentioned that he owned this restaurant. The amazing meal he created included an interesting course featuring a quail egg with Kobe beef and some type of grit/cream of wheat accompaniment. It was very good.

I am considering Tocqueville.

Dinner after a show

Not sure what you meant by "rustic", but either way you can't miss with Babbo. Can get a bit noisy but the food more than makes up for it.

Avoid Da Silvano.

Anniversary dinner

I was seriously thinking of L'impero, and have heard it is nice. Any details?

Is Aureole similar in style/menu to Vegas? If so, I'm not interested.

Thanks.

Thanks for your response(s). I will look into both suggestions.

Anniversary dinner

Thanks for the somewhat helpful info RGR, but I'm not sure I agree with you on the cuisine at OIBL, but to each his own.

I see you are about the only one both here and on another forum, that understands the type of ambience I am looking for, so where would you suggest?

Anniversary dinner

I'm looking for suggestions for a mid-December anniversary dinner, preferrably south of the 20's in the Village/Soho/Union Square areas.

We prefer French, New/traditional American or Italian. Do not want Indian, Asian or Seafood/sushi. For us, great ambience and a good bottle of wine go a long way. That's not to say that cuisine is unimportant-we just don't wish to sacrifice comfort and privacy in the usual long-row seating style of so many typical NYC restaurants today. One of our favs is OIBL, and are looking for a similar type.

Thanks.
