Uses for Tomato Jam
I'm about to start experimenting with some tomato jams, so I'm no expert. But what I've been reading is that if you put the jam in a proper mason jar with a good seal, submerge it in boiling water for 5 minutes, then let it cool, it will develop an airtight seal (which you can check by verifying the lid is dimpled) and it will have a shelf-life of months in the pantry.
good luck!
Your favorite brewpub chains?
I'll probably get some criticism for this, but I've had some really decent beers at Heartland Brewery in NYC. Not sure how big of a chain it is.
best addition to a pb&j
are these jokes? has chowhound jumped the shark? i'm so confused.
Ricotta Ideas
I love to mix up some ricotta, a bit of grated reggiano, salt and pepper, some diced dry-roasted walnuts, and possibly honey, and drizzle a balsamic reduction over the top and eat it like a dip with the leaves of belgian endives. mmmm. such a wonderful snack -- its creamy and rich but with a fresh crunchy texture.
