spell check

i am aware that spell checks are offered on many sites, toolbars etc etc, but having one built in to the chowhound site would save time and yiu wouldn't have to look elsewhere to use it,

does humid weather increase the risk of chocolate bloom?

i am about to do my usual dark chocolate dipped oreos, and it's very humid outdoors...we're due for thunderstomrs. would i be better off waiting till things dry out some...it's close to 100% humidty outside so it's very likely high inside too.

Food Networks new game plan (from the ny times)

there's a very interesting article about the food network in sunday's ny time business section. it details what's next and what's changed (like most of us don't know THAT part).

Couverture Chocolate

it is Guitard chocolate...the real deal. anyone got any EASY methods to temper the chocolate, i don not have a marble slab or a bakers kitchen...just a dinky apartment kitchen and an instant read thermometer.

Wegman's??

they've just updated the two wegman's stores in south jersey...adding a hot food/salad take out bar. not as big a choice as whole foods version but $2.00 cheaper per pound. they've also added a gelato bar...and the guys in the bread section told me they are finally getting a bread slicing machine (for those of us who prefer or need it presliced).

they've also changed their loose tea supplier and while i will miss some of the previous selections, the new supreme earl grey is FANTASTIC. i hope they add lapsong souchong to the selections.

ISO a main Christmas dessert other than cookies, a yule log or fruit cake

i'd suggest croc en bouche, it's a spectacular presentation....and unlike steamed puddings or fruitcakes most people will like it.buche de noel is nice but tired.

Bindi in Philadelphia

of course. if you're ever in s jersey, stop by rajhborg in cherry hill http://www.rajbhog.com/index_main.asp... definitely not a place to call a "restaurant" BUT they have great foods for takeout. there are tables and chairs but zero atmosphere. the people are very nice and try to be helpful...they feature a huge selection of sweets and are attached to a grocery store next door (same company). the samosas and other snacks are quite good. it's vegetarian so no meat dishes but the steam table has a pretty interesting selection you won't find elsewhere. i imagine they cater mostly to an indian clientele. worth checking out...i loved the carrot and squash halea (at least i think that's the name)

The 2007 Pannetone Roundup

i am just about halfway thru a trader joes panettone, and it's pretty decent. i am sure there are better, and i'm probably gonna buy one before christmas...but to quench my urge now i resorted to this one. at $5.99 it's a deal.

Favorite Food Network Chef

anone familiar with Donna Hay, the aussie? she was on tv in the states but it was a few years ago...not her own show, i forget, her food looks wonderful and the ingrediant list is never long and drawn out. lots of asian influences. i think of her as the aussie martha s in some ways (not a in bad way). i've gotten her cookbook "flavors" and a few of her magazine (big drawbak there is each issue is $10usd).

the only brand i noticed they're missing right away is Entenmans...it's not a major problem, but the baked goods they offer are theirs or none (other than breads)

Storing Candied Citrus Peel

i only ask becasue i read the 2 day limit in several online recipes. i admit i saw others that simply say store in an airtight conatiner/refridgerate. i wanted a bit more certainty. i'd hate to go through the effort to make some for christmas only to find they've spoiled.
