spell check
i am aware that spell checks are offered on many sites, toolbars etc etc, but having one built in to the chowhound site would save time and yiu wouldn't have to look elsewhere to use it,
spell check
ever considered adding that as a feature...cos man oh man some of these posters cannot spell!!
does humid weather increase the risk of chocolate bloom?
sure could use an answer or some guidance here...thx
does humid weather increase the risk of chocolate bloom?
i am about to do my usual dark chocolate dipped oreos, and it's very humid outdoors...we're due for thunderstomrs. would i be better off waiting till things dry out some...it's close to 100% humidty outside so it's very likely high inside too.
Best Gingerbread cookies in south jersey

Best Gingerbread cookies in south jersey
i am no baker but i crave good, not good...excellent gingerbread cookies, i am fairly new to this area and would appreciate suggestions where i might buy some. i am in the burlington county area so cherry hill or haddonfield or voorhees wouldn't be too far of a haul......puhleeese
Couverture Chocolate
thanks to all who offered help. the guittard site has a couple of fairly simple seeming methods and since they made the chocolate i think i'll try one of those..thanks again for offering the site, guess i was too flummexed to notice the site info on the box.
Food Networks new game plan (from the ny times)
there's a very interesting article about the food network in sunday's ny time business section. it details what's next and what's changed (like most of us don't know THAT part).
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/17/business/media/17food.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
Couverture Chocolate
it is Guitard chocolate...the real deal. anyone got any EASY methods to temper the chocolate, i don not have a marble slab or a bakers kitchen...just a dinky apartment kitchen and an instant read thermometer.
Couverture Chocolate
does couverture choclate have to be tempered before using to coat cookies etc? i hate trying to get the tempering right but refuse to use that chocolate "prduct" they sell. thx in advance
U-bet syrup
i am sure there are some placess in nyc that still sell fox's BUT i found these 3 online sites..i believe the 2nd one is upstate. all 3 have all the varieties. one even has Bosco!!

NEW! Curry Database
wonderful site..IF you can read japanese. is there a translated version???
Wegman's??
they've just updated the two wegman's stores in south jersey...adding a hot food/salad take out bar. not as big a choice as whole foods version but $2.00 cheaper per pound. they've also added a gelato bar...and the guys in the bread section told me they are finally getting a bread slicing machine (for those of us who prefer or need it presliced).
they've also changed their loose tea supplier and while i will miss some of the previous selections, the new supreme earl grey is FANTASTIC. i hope they add lapsong souchong to the selections.
The 2007 Pannetone Roundup
i just finished the TJ's panettone this morning and darn if i didn't run into the 35 oz Bauli versions at home goods for $9.99 apiece.....i got em both. they had two other italian brands as well but the names escape me. cannot wait to try the bauli.
This Sunday night- ISO great restaurant
amada is my first choice, tied with buddakan. both get busy but they serve at the bar, and if you time if before or just after the prime dinner hours you might luck out...i have.
ISO a main Christmas dessert other than cookies, a yule log or fruit cake
i'd suggest croc en bouche, it's a spectacular presentation....and unlike steamed puddings or fruitcakes most people will like it.buche de noel is nice but tired.
Bindi in Philadelphia
of course. if you're ever in s jersey, stop by rajhborg in cherry hill http://www.rajbhog.com/index_main.asp?sid=513202259...it's definitely not a place to call a "restaurant" BUT they have great foods for takeout. there are tables and chairs but zero atmosphere. the people are very nice and try to be helpful...they feature a huge selection of sweets and are attached to a grocery store next door (same company). the samosas and other snacks are quite good. it's vegetarian so no meat dishes but the steam table has a pretty interesting selection you won't find elsewhere. i imagine they cater mostly to an indian clientele. worth checking out...i loved the carrot and squash halea (at least i think that's the name)
Bindi in Philadelphia
anyone been there yet? it opened wednesday and i am very curious to hear about it. i've just recently discovered the many Indian restaurants in phillly/s jersey. it's a wonderful cuisine to explore.
The 2007 Pannetone Roundup
i am just about halfway thru a trader joes panettone, and it's pretty decent. i am sure there are better, and i'm probably gonna buy one before christmas...but to quench my urge now i resorted to this one. at $5.99 it's a deal.
Favorite Food Network Chef
anone familiar with Donna Hay, the aussie? she was on tv in the states but it was a few years ago...not her own show, i forget, her food looks wonderful and the ingrediant list is never long and drawn out. lots of asian influences. i think of her as the aussie martha s in some ways (not a in bad way). i've gotten her cookbook "flavors" and a few of her magazine (big drawbak there is each issue is $10usd).
Wegman's??
the only brand i noticed they're missing right away is Entenmans...it's not a major problem, but the baked goods they offer are theirs or none (other than breads)
What are the best apples to use for apple cake?
there's a recipe for a 5 hour apple cake on the learning channels site....from their take home chef series

Candyfreak - where to find obscure candy bars?
vermont country store the above post would not accept the entire link so i am repeating it here
http://www.vermontcountrystore.com
look for the candies section listed on the right side of the page, that will take you to all the great stuff they carry. i wasn't able to post the entire link so this will have to do. the place is worth it!!
Candyfreak - where to find obscure candy bars?

Great Tea Bags
ok, if twinings is not an option...why not try amazon.com...search under assam teabags. i tried it and got lots of possibilities, british and otherwise. i was very surprised at the number of selections listed.
Storing Candied Citrus Peel
i only ask becasue i read the 2 day limit in several online recipes. i admit i saw others that simply say store in an airtight conatiner/refridgerate. i wanted a bit more certainty. i'd hate to go through the effort to make some for christmas only to find they've spoiled.
