Inexpensive dining "experiences" near Marriott Marquis?

A group is traveling to Atlanta this weekend, and we'd like to eat somewhere "interesting" - not a high foodie cuisine (as we're on a budget), but an "experience". We're familiar with The Varsity, but is there anywhere else we need to check out near our base of operations, the Marriott Marquis?

Any thoughts would be most welcome

Herons, Fearrington or Magnolia Grill?

I cannot speak to Herons, as I have not been there yet, but I strongly believe that you cannot go wrong with Magnolia Grill. The food is wonderful, and it's very reasonable for "fancy eatin'" - the wife and I ate to the bursting limit (2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts) with 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers for $150 including tip. I think you'd be hard pressed to eat better at either Herons or Fearrington, particularly without spending considerably more.

I wrote a much more extensive review on my blog, but I do not want to violate the posting ettiquette here.

Atlantis Restaurant & Oyster Bar - Rocky Mount, NC

We haven't been in many years, but this place is well worth the hour plus drive from Raleigh! The oyster shucker peels your shrimp as well as the oysters. The sauce is indeed as you describe, with a secret ingredient that no one will share.

Thanks for th reminder - may be time for a road trip.....

Dining near the Ballantyne in Charlotte

The wife and I are headed to the Ballantyne for our anniversary this weekend and have no plans for dinner Friday night. Any suggestions? Thanks!
