30th Birthday Ideas?
So many of your friends are probably having their 30th birthday parties right now that you want to cut through the clutter of having it at a generic bar, right? I had my 30th birthday party at the Chopping Block cooking school for 15 people. Friends commented what a unique idea it was, and they still talk about it - even nearly a year later!
Another place I really looked into was having it at was Tizi Melloul in River North. You can hire a belly dancer or henna artist to come in for your party. The atmosphere is very trendy, as well.
David Burke's Primehouse: Worth it or not?
Really appreciate the feedback - thanks!

BEST BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE WANTED!
I have recently heard that Meritage has the best "Martha Stewart Living" brunch for $20, which includes bottomless gourmet coffee. It's normally an upscale wine-oriented restaurant but their brunch is excellent and only costs a little more than your average brunch. My friend had the "skillet," which is a combination of fingerling potatoes, ox tail meat, brussel sprouts, brie, and two eggs. Everyone else he said had amazing meals, too.
It's located in the West Side (so a cab is needed) at 2118 N. Damen Ave. Good luck!
David Burke's Primehouse: Worth it or not?
Thanks, everyone. I was specifically asking about this steakhouse because that's the one we had in mind - not the others. Seems a little pricey compared to all the other fantastic steakhouses in Chicago and wanted to see if it was truly worth it. I appreciate all of your input!
David Burke's Primehouse: Worth it or not?
Hi there,
My parents are coming into town in May and I'm considering taking them to David Burke's Primehouse. My question to each of you is: Is it worth the $50 for a steak?
BEST BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE WANTED!
I recommend the Bongo Room on S. Michigan Ave. (too far for you to walk, probably, so cab it). It's busy on weekend mornings, but there's a reason for it: an incredible breakfast menu!
Oak Park Eats
I have enjoyed Hemmingway's and believe it or not, the Italian Pasta Shoppe has a restaurant behind the deli which was good, too!
Best Jewish Deli in Chicago?
I recently heard The Bagel near Wrigleyville is pretty amazing.
Dinner with the girls?
I second the Avec vote, but they don't take reservations. Boo.
4 Nghts in Chicago
I also had a good experience at Wildfire, too. Three people will cost about $150 (with drinks and an appetizer included), and is worth the money. I would definitely go back, and it's not super stuffy in attitude, either.
30th Birthday Party
Sorry, I was wondering if any newbies would have any thoughts/ideas. The suggestion of Tizi Melloul is excellent, but was just curious if there were any other options people have experienced that they enjoyed. I was interested in drink/food packages and preferably in an intimate setting (not a bar). Thanks for your help.
30th Birthday Party
Looking for venue ideas where a good place to have a 30th birthday party would be. Cost is somewhat of an issue (I'd like to try and stick under $1200) for about 12-15 people. Any thoughts?
Going to Chicago for the 1st time. Need recommendations for good Chicago Pizza!
My vote is for Geppetto's in Oak Park (take the Green line El to the Oak Park stop). I've taken several visitors there and they all adore the pizza.
Chicago deep dish pizza. New Yorker has a question about ordering from NYC
I served my friend from New York pizza from "Gepetto's (located in Oak Park) and he can't get enough of it when he comes into town. Says it's better than New York pizza (and that's quite a compliment when a New Yorker says something is better in a different city).
30th Birthday Party Ideas
Thanks, you two! Tizi Melloul looks awesome, and I'm seriously considering it. I also thought that maybe having it at The Chopping Block or Flavour Cooking schools might be a fun/unique idea before hitting the bars...anyone ever have an event there?
30th Birthday Party Ideas
Hi there,
Where have some of your favorite places been to celebrate either your (or friends) 30th birthday parties? I'm trying to get some ideas for my own...
Thanks,
Megan
