Grocery Outlet August 2010

The pineapple-bacon sausage is at the Berkeley store, too. I am curious about their taste -- are they any good?

ISO fruit pie in Berkeley

Two weeks ago they offered apple pie (delicious!); last weekend they had rhubarb.

Lobster Fans head to 99 Ranch - $7.99 pound

Curious - will they boil them for you?

Fresh Fish to buy in Sonoma/Santa Rosa area

I agree with Cynsa that the fish at the Saturday farmer's market is of good quality, and though a tad pricey, very fresh and the selection is quite varied.

Also, you can try Alcatraz seafood in Sebatsopol: http://www.alcatrazseafoods.com/

Marina Kebab?

Has anyone been to Marina Kebab (where the old Pita Pit used to be) yet on Chestnut? I have heard good things about the one on Hayes and wonder if the Marina restaurant is as good?

Janes Krazy Salt in east bay?

I have heard only good things about Jane's Krazy Salt and Mixed Up Pepper from my friends on the east coast and have searched for it here in the Bay Area to no avail. Are there any shops in the East Bay (hopefully Berkeley/Oakland) where it is sold? I want to taste what all the fuss is about!

Japanese in Santa Rosa

I agree with Scott M about Hana - it's pretty decent, and they do serve chirashi (and great Agedashi tofu there, too!); would also add Yao Kiku to the list, but as probably the third choice - it's on Yulupa Avenue, near Bennett Valley road.

Costco's frozen CP Shrimp Won Ton - not bad, not bad!

I'm so glad to hear they are good! I've got a container sitting in our office fridge that I'm now highly anticipating for lunch today. I bought it at Safeway for $2.99 -- how much were the six servings at Costco?

Cafe M is open at 4th St. in Berkeley

What is the menu like? Is it sandwich/salad fare? It would be nice to have an addition to the 4th Street food scene that sells lunch that isn't exorbitantly priced like the Pasta Shop ($8 for a sandwich!).

Alexander Valley Sauerkraut

And don't miss the "Outrageous" Bread and Butter pickles which really are just that - outrageously delicious - I must try the sauerkraut next...

Fresh longan in Santa Rosa

Lola's Market on Dutton @Sebastopol Ave is decent - the takeout meats are fairly good, as well (and the quesadillas at their attached restaurant are a good deal, esp. with the fairly extensive salsa bar).

Alemany Farmer's Market Report

I saw in a previous post that there were duck eggs sold at the Berkeley Farmer's Market -- are there duck eggs for sale at the Alemany market?

October 2007 - Grocery Outlet

Just went to Oakland store yesterday and Amy's pizzas were marked at $4.99 -- I also bought the Amy's Palak Paneer. I agree that most of Amy's frozen dinners are pretty tasty.

There was also Hero brand sugar-free orange marmalade $.99 for a small jar. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.

Although I went seeking Bliscotti (I haven't seen this there for a few while), since there was none, I bought Breyer's French Vanilla - if I recall correctly, it was $1.99/pint.

And GenSoy Soy Crisps were selling for $.99 in various flavors - Salt and Vinegar, Ranch and Nacho.

Danish Choice preserves in Blackcurrant, as well as Raspberry is still there, too.
