In White Plains...

Butterfield 8 is more of the same for Mamaroneck avenue. Lola's is owned by the same people as Butterfield 8. They have one in stamford as well, think Mexican/american Butterfield 8. Why is it so hard to attract serious food with reasonable prices to White Plains. It only takes a little effort and passion and not just making the most money per sq ft.

HELP! Im turning 21 this week and im looking for a fun/ trendy restaurant to go to with my girls in the Rockland County (NY)/ Westchester(NY)/ North Bergen(NJ) Area... Any suggestions!?

Lolita is fun place to go if you want an NYC vibe. Food is expensive for what you get and it is anywhere near true mexican but you are paying for the atmosphere. Have something before you go and just get a couple of appetizers.

Empellon Tacos

Thanks for the info. I think I will still give it a try as this helps with decision. Do the have daily specials?

How Did ElBulli Make Money?

I have never been but I hear it was a "bucket list" kind of place. I watch Anthony Bourdain segment recently and I did the math very simplistically and I can see how they make a profit. Any thoughts?

French fries fried in horse fat. Where in Paris?

Beef fat, tallow, makes good fries as well. McDonalds used it for their fries of our youth.

bodega taco and tequila bar

$4.00 may be high but give it try first. I would rather spend $4 and a great taco that 2 would be filing than 2.50 for a taco that wouldn't file your mouth. Los Gemelos tacos are good but someone should be able to do better. Good luck Bodega.

Pranzi

It is in City Center (as you pull into the parking off main) and I just open. Yes, it is another Italian but the pizza was as good as Tarry Lodge but a couple dollars cheaper. The chef is from Polpo in Greenwich.

Pranzi

My wife and her friend went to Pranzi today and came home with great praise for the food and service. Staff was very accommodating without being pesty and everything they had was freshly made and very taste. Salads and pizzas were great and I got to try a piece of the Artichoke Spec pizza as they had some leftover and it was very taste even at room temperature. Looking forward to trying their dinner menu.

restaurant depot coming to port chester!

Traffic is going to stink as they have a lot of big trucks coming in. If you have a business id you can get a card. very easy.

New menu Items at bartaco

I have yet to make it there but I noticed that they have added rice bowls to the menu and a tripe taco? Has anyone tried the taco or rice bowls? love to hear how they are done.

Serafina coming to White Plains

I was driving through White Plains late yesterday and I notice a sign in the window of the empty space by the Ritz and I thought it said Serafina on it. It definitely had their yellow. This would be a great addition if it was true. Can anyone confirm this?

Birds-eye chilis in/near Greenwich?

There are lots of ethnic markets in Port Chester and Stamford that may have them. Also, Fairway in Stamford may have them also. Good luck and let me know where you find them.

Bar Taco is OPEN in Port Chester

I love snapper for Baja fish tacos. Cod is a little bland and a little too tender to hold up to frying and a taco.

A gordita is kind of like a Mexican pita sandwich. It should be a extra thick tortilla that is cut open at one end and stuffed with stuff. It is usually cooked on a griddle in a little home made lard for a crispy exterior.

How were the margaritas? Do they give a good pour in a nice size glass?

How were the size of the tacos? They look a little small in their pictures. How were the gorditas done? Did they have a filing? I hope they bought you a drink or two for the wait. I am looking forward to giving them a try.

Ebb Tide now soon to be Mexican place (Bar Taco) from owners of Barcelona

It opens next Monday.

"killing time" in Chappaqua; food stores worth visiting?

The Table Local Market in Bedford Hills has a great selection of local produce, cheeses and meets. Here is their site: http://www.tablelocalmarket.com/

BYOB around White Plain

Technically if the restaurant does not have a liquor license you can't drink on their premises. Having said that the liquor authority can police this. Given our current economic environment most restaurants should welcome your business and at worst charge a small corkage fee.

Anyone Been To Lolita's In Greenwich Lately?

Just got back from my first dinner at lolita's. I don't get why people are all gaga over this place. The drinks were a nice pour but from a flavor stand point the they were all lacking. We had margaritas and mojitos and for 12 a pop they should leave us wanting more. Tacos and quesadillas were all lacking flavor. Sides were good but for 6 each very over priced for rice and beans. The potato gratin was the real shocker as it was 6 for potatoes that yield two small bits was obscene. Service was fine but not anything special.

Water Moon??? [Rye]

Went for lunch on Monday and it was a very bizarre experience. First they wouldn't seat us where we requested as they said there was a party coming (no parties showed). Then we ordered sushi and we were informed that they don't serve sushi on Mondays. Then we asked about the lunch specials they have on their website, well they no longer offer them. On top of that the waiter was very rude. I call today to speak to the manager and was informed that they have no manager so I asked for the owner and I was informed that the owner comes in at various times and I would have to call back. I this any way to run a restaurant? Death Watch for this place!
