WEDDING VENUE IN NYC, $105 a head without tax and tip. 120 guests. ADVICE PLEASE! The search is on!

Yes, I am fully aware that this is on the lower end for wedding prices in Manhattan. We have a total budget of appx 20 - 25K and was looking for a venue that would charge about $105 per person before tip and tax. There are 120 guests. We are looking for great ambiance and are open to using a restaurant or club, but we would like a large room that also has space for dancing. We would like a cocktail hour with passed hors deurves and are open to a buffet. We have found one nice club in Manhattan that will do it for this rate. But I know there are more options out there! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We will be looking at venues next weekend.
Thanks in advance! :)

Paris- Restaurant recommendations in Saint Germain des Pres

The old-time bistro Allard is one of my favorites. I go there for dinner every time I'm in Paris. I'm going this weekend! Also, Roger la Grenouille.

If you only had 2 Nights Only in Capri, where would you have lunch and dinner?

I have been reading the other posts on Capri to do research, but I wanted to crystalize the responses. My boyfriend and I have 2 nights in Capri and I wanted it to be perfect. Looking for moderate priced suggestions in both Capri and Anacapri. Delicious food in a lovely ambiance.
Thanks for your ideas. We leave for Europe this Thursday!

Best Caterer near New Haven and Branford CT? Chestnut Fine Foods? Culinary Concerts? La Cuisine?

I will respond to my own post in case it is useful to somebody else one day. I ended up using Chestnut Fine Foods in New Haven. They delivered the food and had it set up on the boat before we got there so the service was great. The guests loved the food -- esp the entrees I ordered -- a beef tenderloin with a red wine sauce and a chicken prepared with cheese and artichokes. The cheese platter was great, too, and I selected the specific cheeses on the phone making the order. The antipasta spears were fine. Hope this helps! I would recommend their services.

NYC's Best Cafes/Coffee Shops to write in

I have a new favorite with free wifi: The Roasting Plant in the West Village
Neighborhood: West Village
75 Greenwich Ave
(between 11th St & 7th Ave)
New York, NY 10014

They grind the beans for each cup, when you order it. Even iced coffee. They make every cup specially to order. They have about 10 different kinds of beans and you can order your coffee using ANY of those beans. They have about 5 amazing Fair Trade coffees at no extra price. They roast the beans right there. The staff is very friendly and nice.

Positano/Amalfi Coast -- Where do I eat? Where do I stay? Please point me to greatness!

Thank you, Peggy! That is exactly the hotel I wanted to hear more about. I very much appreciate you taking the time to highlight these wonderful sights and flavors of the region. And to go into such great detail! Much appreciated!!!! I will report in when we return mid October. Also, thank you, Jen, Erica, and Glbtrtr.

Positano/Amalfi Coast -- Where do I eat? Where do I stay? Please point me to greatness!

I am planning 7 days in the Amalfi Coast with my boyfriend in early October. All the options from guide books are overwhelming and I am turning to Chowhound to get the advice of travelers that I can trust! I was thinking of staying in Positano most of the time, but then maybe Sorrento or Ravello for a few nights. Where will we have the most mouth watering meals? Il San Pietro and Sirenuse seem to be the most beautiful hotels, but a bit out of our budget at 650 + a night. Has anyone stayed or dined at Poseiden, Merincanto, Hotel Murat, or Villa Rose? I appreciate all your advice! Thanks!

Festive 40th Birthday Party Suggestions for group of 25 people in NYC -- possibly Italian?

Hi, I am organizing a 40th birthday party for my boyfriend. It will be around 25 people. I want a private room and the food and drink to come to hopefully as close to 60 dollars a person as possible. There is some room to go a bit higher. I'd love delicious food and a great ambiance. Buffet style is even okay. We just want to have an environment where we can celebrate and be festive over yummy food. Any ideas? I know he loves Italian so that would be ideal! Thanks!

Cocktail Party on a budget -- red and white wines under $10

I have to plan a cocktail party and was given a small budget. Is there a red and a white you would recommend that would go over well for under $10 a bottle? I was leaning towards an Italian red and perhaps a Pinot Grigio. Thanks for any suggestions.

Mexican Restaurant w/TO GO Cater Platters - Yummy but on budget

I wanted to order some platters (ideally a make your own taco bar) from a Mexican Restaurant in NYC. Looking for a place that is delicious, but not too expensive to get for a party of 10 - 15 people. Thanks!

Visiting NYC..need some minor suggestions....

For pizza in the west village, my boyfriend and I prefer Joes Pizza. It is one of my favorites in the country. I actually prefer it to John's Pizza. Also, just so you know -- it is a hole in the wall with not much seating and only a few places to stand.

In NYC next weekend for a birthday-looking for trendy places with good food

For brunch, you might want to try Five Points. Also, the Blue Ribbon Bakery is very popular in the West Village. A lot of people like to go to Norma's at the Parker Meredien Hotel and Sarabeth's Kitchen. For steak, the restaurant called The Strip House is fun and great. For dinner, you might want to check out the Grammercy Park Hotel (http://www.gramercyparkhotel.com/restaurant.html). Be sure to check out their roof club and garden for a drink. You might enjoy a lunch at Pastis in the meat packing district.

Ideas for NYC Restaurant to Cater party for 25 people - Moderate price

I am throwing a party for 25 people in a few weeks. I am looking for any suggestions of a restaurant that can cater the party that has delicious food, but is moderately priced. We would need the food delivered to our apartment that evening. No Indian or Mexican. Leaning towards Italian, French or American. Thanks for any ideas that you might have!

Romantic weekend. A splurge for a pair of college students

There's some romantic and reasonable places in the West Village. The garden area at the restauarant Home on Cordelia Street is lovely for dinner or lunch. Also, Tartine is great for dinner and you can bring your own bottle of wine. There may be a wait though. Downtown near there is also the famous Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. You could take a stroll through Washington Square Park and hear local musicians playing during the day. Walk through Central Park during the day and grab a drink at the bar area by the boat house. As for bars at night, I think the place Fiddlesticks gets a college age crowd and it is more of a pub atmosphere at 56 Greenwich Ave
New York, NY 10011 Or for some live music, you might want to check online what's going on at the Knitting Factory. http://www.knittingfactory.com/index.php Also check out online for live music: Bitter End, Blue Smoke, Baggot Inn and Mercury Lounge. Good luck! a few last things : just walking around central park can be so fun. you could alos hit up a museum like the Guggenheim or the MOMA (may have a long wait).

Festive Dinner for 12 Grad Students

Rosa Mexicana perhaps.

30th Bday dinner for 10 people in Meat Packing District - Looking for a fun venue!

What's worth the $ at Citarella? (besides seafood)

The chicken salad in the premade food section is very tasty and affordable at the UWS location.

Good rotisserie chicken on UWS?

You may want to try Citarella's on appx. 75th and Broadway or Fairway a few doors down for a fast and affordable rotisserie fix.

30th Birthday Dinner in NYC - 8 people - Nice, Great Ambiance, yet not stuffy

Hi,
I am looking for a fun & delicious restaurant to go for my 30th Bday with great ambiance. I would like the restaurant to be nice and fun, yet not too stuffy. There will be appx. 8 guests at the dinner. I prefer American or Italian and I am open to all neighborhoods in Manhattan. If the restaurant has a large circular table that is an added plus, but not necessary. I would like to keep it affordable for everyone so ideally appx. $80 or less per person. I'd appreciate your suggestions!
Thx.
