Good bakeries in the burbs?

this is my friend's bakery. I have been eating his bread for years and it is wonderful. before owning his own bakery he worked at crossroads. their breads are not as good now, compared to his.

Jules Thin Crust

people don't go to jules for "thin crust" pizza necessarily. they go there for the taste, the healthulness, the something different. i eat there often because i can take my children, it is casual, plus it is fast AND HEALTHY and TASTY. i love it. they care about the quality of the food, the sustainability, the treatment of the animals providing the meat. if all you care about is think crust pizza traditional style, then this place will not satisfy you perhaps. if you are looking for more than that, you will be pleased.

great food in New Hope?

doylestown is a 20 minute drive from new hope. that is not close? we have some great restaurants in town. slate bleu is really good, black walnut, il melograno....lots more mentioned on threads relating to doylestown.

Best Burger in Bucks County?

five guys!

Best Sushi in the Philly Burbs

i gotta seriously disagree with you on this one. not good at all, plus I had a really bad experience there with the bill and they wouldn't fix it. they charged my card for someone else's meal due to a machine malfunction (was on a day when I wasn't even in town), and wouldnt refund my money. i had to dispute it with the credit card company. they wouldn't return my calls. not nice about it at all. and for all the hassle, the sushi was mediocre at best.

Doylestown/Fountainville

there are a lot of great places to eat in d-town and some places overpriced and not so great. . i have lived there for 16 years. iI melograno, cafe america (great nachos!), slate bleu (wonderful for the ambiance and the food, plus they have a prix fixe menu).ooka is awesome. been going there for 11 years, always great food. domani star was good when I tried it a couple of years ago, but not crazy for the ambiance. paganinni was good when he was in the small place where pag's bar is now. but since then, not so good. plus, he often speaks badly about america and americans, so why would I want to patron his restaurant. knight house, never had a good meal there and tried it 3 times. black walnut - very very good. cross culture, too expensive for what you get. basically burgers, not crazy for them, prefer 5 guys. jules is awesome and healthy. not wild about cafe allessio, had a couple of bad meals there. freight house is not what is used to be so i no longer go. i wasn't crazy for bacci, it was just okay. lily's is good, smokin lil's is good, mesquito grill has the BEST wings but other things not so great, nats has good pizza and the best water ice. pina's by kmart has awesome gourmet pizza, beltemonte brick oven (used to be spatola's) is really good pizza too. pa soup house is good, but don't get the kobe beef burger.

N. Bucks Mexican

El mariachi is great! authentic central mexican food.

frmr philly hound needs recs

Ristorante IL Melograno- best Italian that I have had in D-town

Domani star

have not tried the Pane something or other- used to be Blue star.

Best of New Hope & Lambertville

another rec for Ooka in Doylestown.
Ristorante Melograno II in Doylestown
Haven't eaten at Baci, but many of my friends have and said good things.
Freight House in Doylestown
I don't recommend the Knight House Restaurant. Gave it 3 tries and now give up.

Cafe with great desserts

I love the tiramisu and coffee at Pag's in D-town. Don't recommend the regular food there though and the service can be awful. If you want only dessert, they will ask you to sit in the "cafe" section right near the door. It is not very private. The other desserts are just as good also.

I can't think of anything else at the moment that would be open later at night. My husband and I used to love the ice cream at Coffee and Cream, but the ice cream place no longer exists (Goodnoe's shutdown) so now I am not that thrilled with Nelson's.

breakfast in Doylestown?

I recommend McGlinchey's. Best place for breakfast. Service and atmosphere are not always great but the food makes up for it.

Doylestown Treats?

I have lived in D-town for 14 years, so I will give you my picks. ooka is really great, my favorite place. IL Melograno is great for Italian. If you like pizza also try Nat's and Pina's III. Also, the freight house has great steak, and awesome martini's, but I am not wild about the atmosphere and a lot of times it is too smokey. I did not enjoy the Knight house any of the three times that I went. Domani Star was really good the one time that I went. Lilly's is good, but they do have an attitude. I would stay away from Pag's restaurant and wine bar. Thai Thanee is decent. McGlinchey's has the best breakfast, better than cross keys in my opinion. Cross keys is good too, I just prefer McGlinchey's pancakes, oatmeal, omelettes and sausage. Cross keys bakery is good. La Maison cheese is good if you like french cheese. They also have other french goodies. The Italian Market that is now across from poor Richard's- I was disappointed with the italian treats/pastries. The Tiramisu was stale and the sfogliatelle was also stale. Teh bread was good though. Cheeses are decent. I didn't try anything else. I am curious what people think of the American Kitchen. I haven't eaten there because when I checked out the menu, I wasn't impressed and thought they were overpriced. Any thoughts?
