Wow, recommending a pastrami sandwich (best in North America in fact) to a New Yorker! Like your chutzpah!

NY Chowhound in LA for two days on business and needs good food!

Hello LA,
I will be staying at the Standard in Downtown LA for a couple of days this week and would love suggestions for some great food spots. Looking both for great unexpected lunch spots (for New York read hole in the wall or street vendors) as well as more high end but unusual places for client lunches and dinners. Help please!

Looking for restaurant near Grand Central for dinner with the folks

We're looking for any new places with great food that aren't too loud! We'd be happy with an established place that is good and not too expensive. Any thoughts? I've done a search for Grand Central and the only thing that seems to come up is the Oyster Bar. We'd rather not be IN Grand Central...

Wow. So Provence still rates. Cool. I've never been but when I moved to NY in 84 it was all about Provence...

French Romantic Birthday Dinner in NYC?

I am looking for a great spot for a french b-day dinner on Monday night. We have done Jean Georges and though I am considering Daniel, first I doubt we can get a reservation this late in the game and second I was hoping not to have to spend $400... The budget is between $250 and $300 including wine. It is a dinner for two so somewhere with some privacy would be nice. Any thoughts??

New London lunch
