Coming to the Van Cliburn Competition in May...What's best in the Ft Worth/TCU area?

Have lunch at the Cafe at the Modern Art Museum and McKinley's on University.
BBQ: Angelo's on White Settlement Rd
Mexican: La Familia on Foch in the So7 area
Reata in downtown has really unique cowboy cuisine and amazing steaks. Their rooftop bar is wonderful innice weather.

Sunday brunch/lunch in Little Rock?

My parents and I are looking for a place to have brunch/lunch this Sunday (April 10) in Little Rock. I've seen the recommendations for The House in Hillcrest, and it looks really good. Anywhere else we should consider? Sadly, my mother is not a BBQ eater, so Whole Hog is out...

Thanks!

Recommendation for Colorado City?

I'm meeting an old friend for dinner on Thursday 12/2, and Colorado City is our halfway point. Does anyone know a good place? The Burger House and Mi Ranchito have some reviews online. Help?!

looking for family dining near American Airline Center & Hyatt Regency

Sonny Bryan's West End location would work for you. http://www.sonnybryans.com/
Their BBQ is always good, and it is not expensive. They are open until 9 on Thursdays.

Another thought is the original Spaghetti Warehouse location, also in the West End. I used to LOVE going there as a kid! The restaurant is full of neat things, including an actual streetcar! It is also very resaonably-priced. http://www.meatballs.com/ They are open until 10 on Thursdays.

Best traditional Middle Eastern restaurant in DFW?

We tried Afrah last night and really liked it! My husband and one of his friends enjoyed their hookah/shisha, and we all had kebab plates. The lamb was really good, and we LOVED the fresh pita bread. Unfortunately, we were not able to time our visit to try the Ramadan buffet, but DH and I are going to try and make it back over there another evening to enjoy it.

Best traditional Middle Eastern restaurant in DFW?

My husband has served overseas in Iraq twice now, and he is really wanting to take me to a Middle Eastern restaurant that serves food like he ate over there: traditional food (lamb), chai tea, hummus, and maybe even a hookah lounge. We're willing to drive anywhere in DFW, and price is not important. What is the best place for us to try?

Fresh Turkey

Market Street has them, too. I bought a Butterball one for our Thanksgiving this year.

Are there any *real* Cajun/Creole restaurants in Dallas?

The Dodie's location in The Harbor in Rockwall is really good!

Birthday dinner in Ft. Worth? Help me pick a place?

For lunch or Sunday brunch, go to the Cafe at the Modern Art museum. Excellent food with a pretty view, too.

I personally love Reata on Houston St. Even if you don't eat there, go get a Clear Fork Cherry Limeade cocktail. Wow.

need hill country recs

I was just in F'burg this weekend, and we ate at both The Peach Tree and Hilltop Cafe.

The Peach Tree was very good. Fortunately, we ate early since we didn't have a reservation. The dining room was packed when we left. The chilled avocado soup was kind of like guacamole, but better! Quiche had a lot of spinach in it and was also very good. And the pomegranate lemonade was a real thirst-quencher!

Hilltop Cafe was a quick 10-mile drive out US 87. We each had a seafood entree since, sadly, the acclaimed whole Red Snapper wasn't on the menu that evening. Both were very good. My stuffed shrimp and my companion's seafood pasta were excellent. Other diners near us had the Greek salad, which looked wonderful. It was a little pricey for what we got, but it was good food and a nice evening.

Meat & Threes?

Mama's Daughter and Mecca are both family favorites for me. I adore Mama's Daughter's coconut and chocolate cream pies, too!

Yes, I agree on MTM. Back in my high school days, this place was the BOMB! Get the Roman Orgy...

Aldi's

I've also heard they don't take any type of credit or debit card, so customers have to pay with cash or a check. That is totally impractical for me!

Looking for good italian food within 15 mile radius of Flower Mound

I was very underwhelmed by Ferrari's. WAY overpriced and the food really wasn't anything spectacular. The place was also quite loud in the main dining rooms. Maybe if you got in one of the smaller ones it would be quieter.

Venison (Dallas)

Fresh venison is HARD to find unless you know someone who hunts. (I have a freezer full, thanks to my father!) Texas law (maybe federal) says you can't sell wild game unless it has been commercially processed.

These guys sell via the internet and they have a store in Eden, which is near San Angelo. http://www.venisonworld.com/

D/FW - Lava 10 - Grapevine

So that's what's going in the old Burger King location, next to Kinko's. AWFUL location. (Heck, BK couldn't stay open so that should tell you something.) Their sign is also pretty illegible from the freeway...

Looking for good italian food within 15 mile radius of Flower Mound

The 26 location has been there for several years now. There is also a locationon 26 in Richland Hills called Jerry's Italian Bistro that is owned by a relative.

Personally, I find Cafe Italia's best dishes to be the Jerusalem and Carciofo. I also like the Chicken Rollatini that is usually their off-the-menu special.

Cafe Italia on Northwest Highway in Grapevine. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?sou... Not all of their entrees have tons of garlic. It is BYOB and they provide glasses and don;t charge a corkage fee!

Desperate pregnant lady seeking good gyros in Grand Prairie/Arlington/Irving!

If you're willing to drive to the Love Field area of Dallas, Stratos on NW Hwy is really good. My husband and I always make it a point to stop there for dinner when we're in the area!

American lamb in Dallas.

Central Market. They sell lamb from Rancher's Lamb in San Angelo, TX. The company is owned by a group of local West Texas ranchers, so you're not buying some factory farm's product.

DFW - Beer Joints

If you're in Fort Worth, you MUST visit Fred's Texas Cafe on Currie St. Really good food, and ice cold beer! Bring a wad of cash because they don't take credit cards.

Denver or CO Springs

I'll be in Denver over Memorial Day weekend, and I'm looking for good places to eat! I'm planning to visit the Garden of the Gods on Sunday afternoon so a recommendation for CO Springs would be great, too.

Things I like: meat, green chiles, salads, sandwiches
Things I like but I'd rather not do on this trip: Italian, Asian

Thanks!

And I'll third it... NOT one of my favorite places, Mexican or otherwise. IMHO, their food and drinks are VERY overpriced!

Iron Starr Urban BBQ in Oklahoma City

I just wanted togive this place some kudos! I'm in OKC regularly with my job, and I found Iron Starr through TripAdvisor.com. I've dropped in 3 times now and have never benn disappointed. It is at NW 36th and Shartel near the Pulaski Heights neighborhood. WONDERFUL BBQ meats and excellent sides! I always get the whole green beans as one of my sides. Their hickory smoked chicken just falls off the bone, and the St. Louis ribs are great! And for dessert, their signature chocolate bread pudding is amazing! Service has always been friendly and quick. It is a great place to linger for the evening and enjoy drinks, too.
