Framingham Center Restaurants?

You got it, My Man!

Framingham Center Restaurants?

Per our discussion of last night Pondster, I think sampling the fare at Limey's prior to Don White's gig Saturdayy at Amazing Things makes eminent sense.

Best Dogs North of Boston?

Late to the party, all I can add to the discussion is that all four of my North of Boston favs: Lawton's. Fred's, Boston Hot Dog & Rondogs have already been mentioned. I've been meaning to check-out Popo's for ages based on the thumbs-up given to it by lots of Hounds. So thanks for the reminder NSDishGal and also to Hidden Marc for another Ripper resource as well!

Best tartar sauce?

Matt Murphy's would be one.
But I'll let you in on a little secret.
Many, and I mean many of the best clam shacks on Rte.1 from Warwick, RI to Lubec, ME use Cains cause it's that good!

Your nose is gonna grow, Markie, if that's any compensation.
I can dig-up, I'm sure, at least in a couple of those, seemingly endless, lobster roll posting where YOU brought up the subject of SOME natives predilection for that sickeningly sweet, as Traffic would say, Medicated Goo!

The dirty little secret is that LOTS of Mainiacs prefer Miracle Whip in lieu of Cain's or Hellmann's. I guess this is one of those times I'm glad to be branded "a summer complaint" aka "from away".

Looking for the best cuban sandwich

Having to choose between the two, I'll take EOdC but Chez Henri's is still a damn fine sandwich by any measure. BTW, why are you SHOUTING???

Harp

best lobster roll

I understood your point gg but my point is why bother when there's so many better options. Atrophied? Not at any of the several seafooders with whom I choose to spend my hard-earned dollars. As I'm sure you know, a bargain is a bargain is a bargain ain't nescessarily so :-D

Harp

best lobster roll

Edible, where lobster's concerned and not even considering the price, is not the same as optimal. That's why it always makes great sense to buy them where they'll steam or boil them on the spot for you to go.

St. Patty's Day ideas

St. Patty's Day ideas

Sorry for the late reply lexpatti but my DA passed on the 15th.
My DU & DCs had a St. P-day dinner on the 17th at their family's house in Danvers.
At first I thought it an odd idea but I was wrong. Our extended family sat around after diner sorting through, and voting on, about 600 pictures being limited to only four boards for viewing at the wake. Most everybody, including myself, were viewing some pictures for the very first time or that we hadn't seen in ages.Needless to say, there was a lot of laughter, Guinness and Jameson had by all. Making for a bittersweet Saint Patrick's Day that none of us will ever forget, nor want to.

BTW, I will check-out your local, Kilkenny's, one of these days.

Off-season mid-coast ME

Hi mminmaine,
I'd rather revive one of the 103 lobster roll debates on this board, kidding, just kidding!

As I commented north of here on this OP, the Icelandic haddock at the Chicken Bone Saloon is FAS or flash-frozen and virtually undetectable from fresh caught. The point, as you've appreciated in your second paragraph, is consumers being provided knowledge of the sources for their meat, fish, veggies & fruits and how they were "grown" and subsequently handled enroute to restaurants or to their own kitchen tables.

Tom's Tavern is closing!

This article was in Attleboro's Sun Chronicle today;
http://sunchronicle.com/articles/2009/03/24/news/4644518.txt

Tom's Tavern "Last Call" was a bit earlier than originally expected. Sunday was their last day, shutting their doors forever at midnight. An auction of the property will be held at the tavern on 3/31. The article contains direct quotes from Tom G. in which he explains their untenable situation. Being the stand-up guy that I know, and would expect, he doesn't sugar-coat his own culpability.

Reliably good seafood (especially fried) restaurant?

That's too bad!
There is no website for Moulton's but I just updated their link with the complete hours. Also, it's beer & wine only while I'm thinking about it.

St. Patty's Day ideas

Hi lexpatti,
Today, of all days, would NOT be the day to try the Holy Grail in Epping but I'm wondering if you've been and your thoughts on it. Even for a relatively new resto what I've read on-line is some of the most wildly varying opinions I can recall on everything from the food, the staff and even the ambiance. Their website looks impressive as does architecture from what I've seen of TV Diner & the Purple Pimps.

Reliably good seafood (especially fried) restaurant?

Oops, it's even funnier now that it looks like you're addressing someone who's MIA. But at least you have a very nice follow-up Moulton's report to keep you hangin' on to this thread as the Supreme's might say. Or like a stalactite as ScienceChick might also say! :-D

Harp

argentinian steakhouse?

This is terrific, really itaunas!
I now have the basis for an informed approach to this resto.
A report will be forth coming as soon as possible.

Thanks again,

Bistro Henry, Manchester, VT sucks!

The only "sport" you'll find me involved with in the immediate area is fishing at Gale Meadows Pond which is probably the best warm-water fishery in Southern VT. and Smallmouth fishing on the West River. What's the matter with Stratton anyhow? There's no beer or chili festivals like Mt. Snow or even Highland Games where I could dominate the Caber Toss competion. As nancyl126 verifies below, there is actually a Winhall River over there yonder beyond the OutBack's deck. It's what's called a freestone river than runs heavy in the spring thaw and becomes a trickle by late spring. I guess you never done what's known as a Duval St. Crawl, aka hands and knees, due east off the deck :-D

Harp

argentinian steakhouse?

Easily amused?
That's a fairly full lifeboat as far as I'm concerned. :-D

Harp

argentinian steakhouse?

Not really R i B,
As Canada is far-and-away the largest beef exporter to the US market. Although it's still a drop in the bucket compared to domestic production.
