Sushi House of Taka - Omakase?

I've eaten at Sushi House of Taka numerous times, but have yet to ask about an Omakase. Has anyone tried it? If so, how much did you pay, what'd you get, and how good was it?

Please let me know as I'm looking to try to head there this week.

Thanks!!

Las Vegas 27th Birthday Dinner - 14 people, under $50/pp

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't want to be picky, but a lot of the people in the group that I'll be eating with (myself included), aren't really fans of tapas. I will definitely consider it, but other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Las Vegas 27th Birthday Dinner - 14 people, under $50/pp

I know this might sound like an impossible request considering the location, but I'll be heading to Las Vegas with 14 of my closest friends over the Christmas holiday, and we're looking for a place to have a birthday dinner for under $50/pp. We don't need anything too trendy or fancy, as long as it can accommodate a group of our size and the food is tasty. Any restaurant on the Strip or Downtown LV is great for us. None of us are too keen on Chinese or Mexican food (since we can get good, cheap versions of this stuff in LA), but pretty much anything else is great.

I've had some people suggest Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris, but I'm not sure if this is in out price range. All suggestions are welcome. THANKS HOUNDS!!!!

Lunch for 75 people!

I am in process of setting up a 60th birthday lunch for my father, but I am having trouble picking a location. We're expecting about 75 guests, so we'd need someplace to accommodate a large group. A private room is preferred. I'm looking to spend around $30 p/p.

Anyplace in the SFV, Los Angeles, or even as far south as Torrance/Gardena would do. I just need suggestions!

Thanks!!

Brunch Buffet - Shanghai Red, the Warehouse, or Maison Akira??

I'm going to be taking my mother and grandmother to sunday brunch for their birthdays and I'm having a hard time choosing between Shanghai Red, the Warehouse (both in the Marina), and Maison Akira. The food at Maison Akira looks more intriguing, but the fact that the Marina restaurants are by the water makes them more appealing to me.

I need help deciding. Is the food at any of these restaurants MUCH better than the others? Does Shanghai Red have much seafood on their menu? If I do go to Maison Akira, is the ambiance going to make up for the fact that it's not on the water?

Please HELP!!!

Hop Li... Pico & Veteran... what am I in for?

Though Hop Li is definitely not the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to, it is a step up from all other Chinese places I've been to on the Westside.

I think the restaurant is mainly Cantonese style food, but most everything I've had there is not too bad. Steamed fish, squid with spicy salt, and honey walnut shrimp are some of my favorites.

Hopefully this will help you out.

ISO japanese restaurant in greater LA - Nice Ambiance - No need for great sushi

Thanks for the suggestion. Since you said that the restaurant isn't large, do you think that there might be a problem accommdating a group of 10 people on short notice. Also, what dishes do you recommend and how is the decor?

ISO japanese restaurant in greater LA - Nice Ambiance - No need for great sushi

I have a friend coming into LA this weekend and it is his girlfriend's birthday. We are looking for a Japanese restaurant in greater LA that has a nice ambiance and good food. The issue is that they don't want to eat sushi. Possibly teppanyaki or teriyaki and tempura dishes.

We will have a group of about 8-10 people and are looking to spend around $20-$30 per person.

Please help!!!!!

Opus tasting menu... okay for people who don't eat red meat?

I've been reading such rave reviews about the Opus tasting menu on this board that I MUST try it. However, the person that I will be dining with does not eat red meat.

If I let our server know this beforehand, will the chef keep this in mind when preparing our tasting menu dishes or will my date be forced to order from the regular menu?

Sunday Buffet Brunch in L.A. Area--Hilton Universal-Others?

If you don't mind driving out to Pasadena, I heat that Maison Akira has a great lunch buffet. I have not personally made it out there yet, but I've heard good things from a few people. They do have a website that lists their brunch items, so you might want to check it out.

ISO sandwich with GREAT bread in Century City!!

Yes, bread bar is open. I've been there as well and while I do find the sandwiches very good, I really want to find a deli type place to grab a sandwich. I've seen some places on Pico, but not sure where to go.

ISO sandwich with GREAT bread in Century City!!

I work right across from the Century City mall on Santa Monica Blvd. and I am dying for a sandwich with GREAT bread in the area. I'm a huge fan of baguettes, french rolls, and also the bread they usually use for sandwiches at Italian deli.

I've already been to Clementines and really don't find it all that great. Please come with some suggestions!!!

How much will Triumphal Palace cost me?

It really does depend on how you order, but if you don't go for any of the really big ticket items (i.e. shark fin soup), you'll probably be able to get out of there for $15/pp.

Everytime I go there with friends, we eat until I can no longer bare to look at another piece of har gow and that's about how much it costs us. Hope this helps.

HELP! Need recommendation for Korean restaurant--not just Korean bbq

You can always go to Hodori or Nakwon both on the SW corner of Vermont and Olympic. They have extensive menus with all of the items you're asking about. Also, both are open 24 hours.

renu nakorn or thai nakorn

I've never been to thai nakorn, but Renu Nakorn is amazing. Probably the best Thai food you'll have outside of Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas. The food is INSANELY spicy, so if you're not one for hot foods, make sure to order it really low on the spicey scale. You can choose between 1-10, and even 3 or 4 is really hot... so be careful.

Also, make sure you get dessert. The coconut ice cream is heavenly.

4 Guys on a golf vacation in Santa Barbara looking for Saturday night dinner

Thanks for the reply.

We'll be playing golf at Sandpiper and our hotel is about 5 miles away from the course, so anything in that area would be great.

As far as food goes, we're not really picky. Pretty much anything will do. Our main concern is that the restaurant has a nice ambiance and good wait staff. Steak, Italian, and French are always good.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing more responses.

Help! Need a good Korean restaurant in K-Town (w/patio?)

Tahoe Galbi does have an outdoor area as well, but I think Chosun has better food. Either way, you can't really go wrong.

If you do end up at Chosun and are planning to go during a time when there'd be a dinner rush, then I suggest calling ahead of time and making a reservation. It gets pretty crowded.

4 Guys on a golf vacation in Santa Barbara looking for Saturday night dinner

I'm looking for recommendations for a Saturday night dinner for 4 guys on a golf vacation in Santa Barbara. None of us are very familiar with the area, but I've heard that there are some really good eats around.

We're not looking for anything too fancy or pretentious, but would like somewhere with good service, a relaxed atmosphere, and most of all, GREAT food. Also, I know the local wines are supposed to be great, so a restaurant with an extensive wine selection is a plus. I'd also really like to spend no more than $50/pp including a glass or two of wine.

Thanks for the suggestions ahead of time!
