Good, Casual date place near University Place for tonight?

I must disagree with Buona Sera. It is horrible.

Villa Mosconi, Campanile?

What is the atmosphere like at Villa Mosconi? Is it as bare as Campanile? While I agree that the food is very good at Campanile, I'm planning a baby shower and am looking for a warm atmosphere. Thanks!

Le Souk

A friend from out of town made reservations at Le Souk tonight. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks!

First night out in a while--where to eat in the East Village or Lower East Side?

Apizz. Delicious food and romantic atmosphere!

Max branch in Tribeca?

We order from Max's in Tribeca often. The food is tasty, the price is right, and the delivery is quick. We have actually never been to the restaurant itself.

Good Italian

There are so many good choices. What kind of food are you looking for -- italian-american, tuscan, roman, pizza/pasta, sicilian?

Some suggestions: Beppe (great tuscan), otto (pizza/pasta, cheese, good wine by the glass), apizz

Sports bar in Tribeca w/ good eats?

Thanks!

Sports bar in Tribeca w/ good eats?

Can anyone recommend a good place in Tribeca for watching the Yankees and enjoying a decent meal? I'm not looking for anything fancy. Bar food is fine; inedible bar food is not. Thanks!

I get a free dinner and I need a recommendation!

Beppe is a great italian (tuscan) restuarant near there with very good pastas. Devi is some of the best Indian food around.

New to nabe -- Tribeca / near City Hall

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

New to nabe -- Tribeca / near City Hall

Thanks. Do you have any suggestions for food shopping?

New to nabe -- Tribeca / near City Hall

Looking for recs for good food shopping, takeout/delivery options (all food types), and restaurants (I'm mainly interested in neighborhood places here, not destinations recs -- such as Bouley) (again all food types). Thanks!

Battery Park City -- Regal theater suggestions?

Going to see a movie tonight at 7:50 pm. Any recs for a decent bar/grill or pasta place in the vicinity of the Regal Theater? Thank you!!

Eek! Last Minute! Cheap? Maybe in the Village?

I second Cacio e Pepe. We've eaten there twice and the food was excellent and very affordable. Another good choice is Gaetana's. It's reasonably-priced, down-home, italian-american food.

Visiting Manhattan-- how do these places sound?

Wolgang's in Tribeca is another good option for steak. I'm not sure where you are coming from, but you might want to add an italian restaurant to your list (if you like italian, of course) because NYC has some of the best italian food outside of Italy. Some good options: Beppe, Lupa, Il Buco, Cacio e Pepe, Giorgio's of Gramercy, Otto (pizza, cheese, & pasta) . . .

overrated restaurants

I must disagree re: Il Buco. I had a lovely meal there and the prices were not outrageous.

ISO Rest. Nr Village VII Theater (3rd ave/11th st)

We went to Cafe Deville but had to wait so long for our food to come out that we did not have time to eat it before the movie! Thankfully, the manager agreed not to charge us for it. But it meant we ended up filling up on popcorn and eating cereal when we got home!

ISO Rest. Nr Village VII Theater (3rd ave/11th st)

Thank you for the recs.

ISO Rest. Nr Village VII Theater (3rd ave/11th st)

Thanks, RGR. I love Cacio e Pepe. However, we were there just last week. Do you have any other suggestions near there? Thanks!

ISO Rest. Nr Village VII Theater (3rd ave/11th st)

I know it's late, but I'm looking for a recommendation for a decent place to eat tonight either before or after a 9:00 pm show at the theater. American/continental, Indian, Italian, or Chinese are all good options. We're looking for something at a moderate price point. Thanks for your suggestions!

anyone heard of "divertimento bistro"

I must disagree regarding the quality of the food. The atmosphere is cute, with a live pianist playing Nirvana (interesting) but the food was disappointing. The one piece of bread that they gave each of us was stale and the olive oil for dipping was of low quality (almost see-through). We ordered a side of spinach to go with our entrees, which they brought out with our salad. It was overcooked in too much oil and garlic.

The entree prices are low but the appetizers are almost the same price and the wine by the glass is not a bargain ($9).

I've had much better food for less money at other places, such as Cacio e Pepe.

ISO Pre-theater dinner on Friday with my in-laws

Thanks for the feedback. Can you provide any more details regarding Piana Due?

ISO Pre-theater dinner on Friday with my in-laws

I've been to Dopo de Treapo and have not been overly impressed with the food. It's an option, but I was hoping for something a little better.

ISO Pre-theater dinner on Friday with my in-laws

Do you have any thoughts on Barbetta (is it very expensive) or Cascina? I haven't found many reviews on Piano Due on the boards, can you add a little detail as to why it's perfect? Thanks!

ISO Pre-theater dinner on Friday with my in-laws

My in-laws will be in town to see Jersey Boys on Friday night and we are planning a pre-theater dinner at about 5:00 pm in the Theater Dist. The food must be italian with a good selection of seafood, but also non-seafood dishes. I considered Roberto Passon, but there are no longer any reservations available for 6. I'd like to keep the price moderate, as my father-in-law will likely offer to pick up the tab. Is Scarlatto any good? Are there other places that would fill our needs? I'd like the food to be as good as it can be given the restrictions above. Thanks.

Good indian food near times square?

I third Utsav. The lunch special is affordable and the food is very tasty.

I would recommend skipping Copper Chimney. The environment is pretty but the food is nothing special and the prices are not cheap. The lamb that I had there was tough and lacked flavor.

If you want to leave the Times Square area, I would suggest Brick Lane Curry House. It's British style Indian food and is quite good.

Gaetana's Cucina Italiana

Is this place new? Is it tiny or would it be good for a large group? thanks.

Tasty Mexican for Ladies Night?

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm a bit torn because the bride to be has already been to Dos Caminos and I think she just thought it was so-so. What is the atmosphere at Suenos like?

Tasty Mexican for Ladies Night?

How would you rate Suenos, Dos Caminos, and Crema?

Tasty Mexican for Ladies Night?

I thought about Mercadito but in my experience the service is too disjointed for a group. Also, I thought the prices were on the high side for not much food. I agree, however, that it was tasty.
