Good place for drinks for 15+ near Lincoln Center
Title says it all. I am looking for a place to gather with friends on a Saturday night for some drinks.
This area seems like a mine field of overpriced touristy places...
It can be a dive bar or a more upscale place (as long as it's worth it) - but able to accommodate 15.
Thoughts?
"Second Tier": Special Occasion Dinner (suggestions)
Looking for a nice dinner spot that is large enough to comfortably accommodate a group of 8 and will not explode the budget.
Any neighborhood would work and cuisine should be french/italian/new american, etc...
While I say second tier, I simply mean below that of Le Bernardin, Daniel, etc...
So, it can still be nice, but perhaps entrees under $35 or pre-fixe
Thoughts? We have been to most of the usual suspects (gramercy tavern, union square cafe, EMP, etc...).
I tentatively have a reservation at Aldea, but I am afraid this place will be too small.
No reservations restaurants: That accept reservations for large parties
Can anyone think of those restaurants in Manhattan that will not take reservations for parties under 4 or 6 but will accept larger parties for reservations...
Blue Ribbon comes to mind...
cheap yerba mate in nyc?
I am looking to pick up a bag of yerba mate, but not the American, way overpriced guayaki crap.
Does anyone know of an argentine bodega/store (preferably near the upper west side/harlem), where I could get a large bag relatively cheap?
West Village-Non Opentable
Looking for a nice dining experience on Friday evening for a party of five... Wallse fits the bill as perfect, but they are booked... Any other suggestions on places that aren't on the opentable radar that are worth the call?
Prefer a reservation to waiting in the infinite lines of pearl, spotted pig, etc...
Burr Grinders: Where to buy?
Looking to buy a burr grinder... preferably a Rancilio Rocky. It would be nice to find one in New York this weekend.
Does anyone have any clue as to whom might stock them?
Puerto Rico Trading Co. doesn't have any...
mother's 50th birthday
Well, my mother turn's 50 in a few weeks, and I want to make sure we take her to a wonderful restaurant for dinner. I had Per Se in mind until i found out they had a two month reservation policy (not one month)...
She has been to some nice restaurants already in the city (Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Cafe, WD50, Le Bernardin), so those are probably not the best choices...
ideas/suggestions.... so many options...
degustation or tocqueville
Any suggestions? Also open to other restaurants that i can get a table a week in advance.
west village bagels (West of 6th Avenue)
Title says it all... I just moved from the upper west side, and I am in need of seriously good bagel shop...
