University City Taste in Charlotte
I just back from the first University City Taste in Chalotte and was very pleased with the offerings. Bad Dogs had some chesseburger sliders. The Waterfront Restaurant in the Hilton had several things, but I only tasted the chocolate scone. I tried the chicken salad sandwich at Boardwalk Billy. At Tasti Yogurt, I tried the pineapple and strawberry yogurt. At Philly Steak, they had some pizza (that I didn't try) and philly steak sandwiches (whick I did try ). Firebird had beef brisket. Finally, I tried something with beef at Zapotos. They were all very good and they seemed to have a good crowd and place for it, so I hope they have it again next year. Did anybody else go?
Baklava in Charlotte NC
The Greek Isles on Bland St has Baklava. Also, the greek festival tn Sept. will be selling it.
Coffee along I-85?
There is a Starbucks at the Salisbury exit and the Concord/Kannapolis exit on I 85.

College BBQ in Salisbury, NC is open on Sunday. It's not to far from I 85, which sounds like the path you are driving. They serve wood burning bbq and just remodeled the inside of their place.
Graduation dinner for my son - central North Carolina
For mexican, Casa Grande has very good food and is close by in Salisbury. For southern homestyle, Emma's in downtown Concord would be good.

Melanie, sorry I was to late responding to this post. If you are ever back in the Salisbury area, there are two places to try. The first is the Faith Soda Shop in Faith, NC. They have a very good beef brisket bbq sandwich as well as other things. The other is a cuban place called Mambo Grill. The is good, but the last time I tried to eat there the service was not good. Enjoy your post and hope you have a good time in NC.

As I was planning my next trip to NYC, I was wondering if it is worth it to plan to go on a weekend so that I could go to Levin to get one of their sticky buns. Are they worth it? Also, I want to take the subway after church from 34th st. and go to Levin Bakery and get something to eat for lunch and get back down to the theater district for a 3 pm show. Is there any good place nearby the bakery or the theater district that has good fast service on a Sunday. I was thinking of maybe the buffet at the thai place called Earthen Oven. Thanks for any advice.
Chick-Fil-A March Mania - Free Food
I've given up on Chick-Fil-A because of their bad service where I live. For instance, the person waiting on me who is busy talking to another worker while standing there with my food in her had getting cold. Also, they more times than not say nothing when I thank them after receiving my order. Zaxby's gets my money now.

There is Sky Top Orchard in Flat Rock, NC and Stepp Farm Hillcrest Orchard in Hendersonville, NC that acoording to website both have apple cider doughnuts if you are willing to do a little driving.

There is a cafe called Park Cafe there at the hotel that serve a good cheap breakfast especially their french toast.
Sunday Lunch before Broadway show?
Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway might be fun if you want something casual and enjoy musical. The waiter take turn singing while you eat and the food is pretty good (not cheap).

Does anybody know a good chinese buffet place that is not to far from the Concord Mills area?Also, has anybody eaten at Hibachi Grill that moved into the old Ryan Restaurant in the Cloverfield Plaza in Concord? Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheerwine syrup is the syrup that they add to the carbonated water to make cheerwine. Until recently, you could not buy it . I had a uncle that worked there and could bring some of it home. You can now buy it at the cheerwine plant near Rowan Cabarrus Community College. It is so good cold over vanilla ice cream.

As much of a strawberry lover as i am, i would use the strawberries for salad or something else and use Cherrwine syrup over the ice cream. Have you ever had it? Also, there is a winery in Lexington that is close by. I have never been there or tried it.

As far as Cheerwine goes, Food Lion use to carry Cheerwine ice cream and Innes St. Drugs on South Main St. sells Cheerwine Fudge. Apple Baking Co. in Salisbury sells cake slices and other desserts. Lance crakers are from Charlotte. Smithfield ham is from NC. Nesse sauages is from NC somewhere I think. Of course, NC BBQ from Lexington area.

What about Rocky Mountain Chocalate Factory at Concord Mills (across from T J Maxx)? Then you can have fun shopping in the mall afterward.
