Lebanon Bologna around Boston?
Market Basket in Somerville has it. Got some last week, just had a sandwhich. Tastes like the Pa/ Md stuff !
Looks like Benati in Inman is for sale...
Never went there as it seemed too pricey for me and the neighborhood in general but I know many rave about it. Saw this on Craigslist

Albanian looking for real Albanian food!
Was at Basta Pasta for lunch today and spoke with The owner/chef. He and his
co workers are Albanian, but he doesn't cook any Albanian dishes. His food is more
South Mediteranian . Anyway, its a great place, great food and value and if nothing else, you could speak Albanian with them.
Surprisingly Excellent Food at the Druid
The food is great. Try the fish chowder app- its the best. Most of their dishes are enough for 2 people so it is a good deal. The people who work there are all fun and friendly. Only problem I have with the place is sometimes it is too crowded to get in! A bummer, as its just down the street.
new restaurant replacing Tullios
Hope to God Basta Pasta isn't leaving Cambridge! I go about once a week- really good food at a great price. Sobbing as I type......
Liver + Onion Lunch?
My DC loves liver and onions . Read in todays Globe that Loch Ober is now closed for lunch.
We live in Cambridge, but anywhere close by would be fine. Any Ideas?
The New Zoe's
Yes. On Beacon St in Somerville. Across the street from Petsi's Pies and next to Dan's Diner.
The New Zoe's
From what I could tell, the menu was the same. The dishes tasted better to both of us but
our colds may have messed up our taste buds.
One other thing. I didn't see any indication of alcohol. Don't know if a license is in the works or not.
The New Zoe's
My DC and I are suffering from bad head colds so we thought some Zoe's Hot + Sour soup was in order. The new place has been open only four days. It is BEAUTIFUL. Warm beige walls, some paintings I remember from their old place across the street, some new art.
Modern drop glass lighting fixtures. Much bigger than the old place, this would sit 60-70 I imagine.
The soup was good as ever, nice and peppery- just the thing to open the sinus.
We also got Moo shu pork because..well...that is what we usually do. It sounds uninspired but its very good.
For lunch, a cup of soup each, and splitting an order of moo shu is more than enough- we had a lot left over. The prices are very reasonable and don't seem to have gone up. The same friendly waitress, too.
They were putting up a banner across the street on the old place. It will be Pho and Rice.
Also, someone was asking about round tables. There is one in the back that had 6 people, but it looks like 8-10 could probably fit.
Much better looking than the old Zoe's, same good food and prices.
Birthday brunch near Towson, Md
Thinking of having a 85th birthday brunch party for my MIL and her friends in October. She lives in Towson. I'm in Boston and don't know the area that well. Probably about 20-25 people.
Maybe a place with a separate dining room for the party with a buffet? Someplace with good
food and reasonable prices. Any ideas? or other suggestions?
Cantina La Mexicana-Union Sq
Went for the 4th time last night. This place is really great since the renovation/expansion.
The space is fun and has some interesting lighting,a colorful paint job and decor.
The food is really good. Good chile rellenos are hard to find but they have them. My husband had a plate of gorditas mixtas, which is a plate if little fat flat tacos. 2 were of shrimp, 2 of beef and 2 of pork, I think. All are topped with farmers cheese. Similar to the wonderful street food I got in Mexico when I lived there years age. The owner, Roberto is super friendly and talks to all the guests. He gave us a tomale and a flauta on the house to try. The tomale was fantastic. He would have given us more to try on the house, but we couldn't possibly eat any more. One of the most authentic Mexican I've had here and the price is very cheap, for the quality and quantity you get. We are kind of eating our way through the menu.
The bar area was pretty full but the dining area was pretty empty and that is a pity. I suggest you try it. The only drawback is probably the parking which can be a little dicey but I think I spotted a new municipal lot on the corner of Prospest and Washigton, across from Rickeys.
Some time I will try the white sangria which sounds interesting- white wine, rum, and fruit.
Anybody had it?
New Northern Italian Restaurant in Inman Sq.
We walked by and looked at the menu. Very $$$$. This Inman Sq resident, and none of my neighbors, will not pay that much for an Italian dinner. They has 1/2 servings but they were , I think , half price plus $3. Maybe their client base will be ECG types. Maybe I'm a cheapskate. The space is very chic and looks great, though.
All Star Sandwich Bar - two notes & a question
I think he is taking over the Improv Boston space and expanding there. I saw a sign for the Improv- that its moving to into the space that had the Oriental market on Prospect St- near The Field.
The Paddock (Somerville) - New Ownership
Went last week. It is WAY better now. First, it is really clean now but still has the horse
statues, pictures and saddles. The chef's wife was really friendly and their young son ( I think) was a very attentive with the bread, water, clearing etc. He was also extremely polite.
The food is a real deal. We ordered off the menu cuz we didn't see the specials board that was posted up on the bar. Nice, unpretentious place with reasonable good food.
Lunch places in Milton?
I will be there on Friday and don't know that area at all. Looking for reasonably priced chow in a casual setting. If not Milton, some town nearby would be OK.
What Is Good at Cafe Kiraz in Cambridge?
The last few times I was there (yesterday, too) I had the 1/2 sandwich + soup combo. The portions are large and it is plenty of food. The minestrone soup is the best one I've had there.
The chicken salad is great with lots of dill. There is something sweet in the wheat bread, honey maybe, and it is sliced very thick.
Wang's Pork Dumplings,; Broadway, Somerville 12/4/06
I've only had the Chinese vegetable ones. They were FAB!
Boston hound needs Hoboken recs
I want to get my sister and bro in law a gift certificate for a restaurant in Hoboken (where they live). Someplace for people in their 20's, not too expensive, and maybe has good beer. Can anyone help? Thanks
Black Truffle oil. How to use?
We received the oil as a gift and have no idea how to cook with it.
Any ideas? BTW, we eat meat. Thanks
Fresh Lobster near Cambridge
I feel like cooking some lobster soon. Where is the best and cheapest place to get them?
