Anything edible around Medfield?
Have you tried the Saigon in Millis? Great food. Service is a bit slow but worth it for decent Vietnamese in the suburbs.
There's also a LOT of ethnic options in Norwood, which isn't too far.
Bennington/Manchester, VT- Best Ice Cream
It's like soft-serve, usually maple flavored.
Bennington/Manchester, VT- Best Ice Cream
Well, to be fair, I don't know the current status of the ice cream stand on Rt. 7A-they may be selling their own ice cream this season. I'll have to do some research to find out! ;-) They do still sell Wilcox's packaged ice cream at local stores and supermarkets, though.
Bennington/Manchester, VT- Best Ice Cream
Wilcox's ice cream stand on Rt. 7A, as of last season, was selling Turkey Hill ice cream (or some other commercial brand) and the stand is now called "Silver Springs Scoops." There's a long family battle between the brothers and one runs the dairy and one runs the ice cream or something like that. I never could untangle the web of family drama there. Anyway, they also have an ice cream shop up in Manchester, next to the Northshire Bookstore, where I think they are selling Wilcox ice cream.
But, yes, there is an appalling lack of good ice cream here. The Vermont Confectionery in Bennington--on Rt. 9 west, heading out of Bennington towards NY-has a decent ice cream shop. Other than that, good luck.
Oh and Dutton Farm Stand in Manchester, on Rt. 11/30, sells maple creemees, which are pretty good.
Manchester, Vt. take out, prepared possibly veggie friendly...
Starting today, on Thursdays, from 3-6, there is a good farmers market in Manchester. It used to be at the Rec. Park but is now downtown, on Rt. 7A, north of the intersection of Rt. 30, across from Candeleros Restaurant. There are usually some prepared foods there, including a vendor selling asian/korean food. You can also get good cheese, bread, veggies and sweets.

Try the Lawyer and the Baker, on Rt. 30 across from the Northshire Bookstore. Excellent lunches, to go or not, and wonderful pastries. I've also had some good lunches at the Gourmet Cafe, which is in a plaza on Rt. 7, just north of the intersection of Rt. 30.
Bennington Special Birthday in July - Pangaea, Four Chimneys, or Something Else?
I've never had anything more than drinks at the Four Chimneys and that was ages ago. But, I've never had a bad experience at Pangaea, which is usually our first choice when we go out locally. The folks who own Pangaea also own Allegro Restaurant in downtown Bennington. I've not eaten there but have heard great things from friends.

Dinner/Drinks for a group after Waterfire-Providence
I second Luxe. A really fun place and the burgers and drinks are great!
Restaurant Depot Worth it?
Natick? I thought it was in Needham. Did they open a new one in Natick?
Restaurant Depot Worth it?
Agreed. There are good deals but for things like meat and frozen foods and vegetables, you need room to store it. But, if I recall correctly, things like dairy (butter, cheese, etc) you can break cases, as you can also do with canned items.
They do have good prices on smallwares like sheet pans ($5-7 each for half sheets) and other things like ice cream/cookies scoopers, muffin tins, storage containers, things like that.
Bistro Henry, Manchester, VT sucks!
My friend recently had a pretty bad experience at Up for Breakfast. (We've renamed it "Up Yours for Breakfast." ) Her pancakes were uncooked in the middle, her sausage was overcooked and the service was lackluster. My friend complained (nicely) and they made her new pancakes but the overall reaction they got was that of apathy. I'm not sure who they had working there that day, but the turnover there is so frequent, you never know what you're going to get these days.
Any Place Like Hart's Turkey Farm - But Not Hart's Turkey Farm
I don't know of anyplace like that around the Manchester, VT area.
Looking for Doughnuts - Berkshires, Southern Vermont, and Near Bradley Airport CT
The Donut Man in Pittsfield, on Rt. 7, near the Lanesboro town line.
Anytime of the day, we've always had fresh donuts there. And good coffee, too.
I work in Manchester, VT and I don't think Mrs. Murphy's Donuts are anything to write home about, sadly. I have yet to find good donuts in southern Vermont, except for cider donuts at random farm stands, which are hit or miss.
Apple Picking Near Boston NOT Like Disney?
For nine years, I was be the girl under the tent at Dowse's. =) If you want a real old-time working family farm with the best apples and cider around, Dowse's is the place to go. I live in Vermont now and miss it terribly.
Report: York-area, Maine
We were also just in York for vacation and went to Harry's twice. The first time, my husband got the lobster bisque, which he thought was excellent and I got fried calamari, which were also tasty. The sweet potato fries were very good and the portion is huge. Their onion rings are homemade and excellent--very crispy and a nice sized portion, too. The second visit, we both had lobster rolls, which were packed full of very tasty, tender meat and, like the OP said, not too much mayo or celery.
We never made it to Fox's but I guess that's a good thing. Other places we tried that we'd never been to:
Harborside Restaurant on Cape Neddick: Old timey kind of place that looked a bit worn. But great view and good service. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his bouillabaisse; my baked stuff shrimp was a bit disappointing. Too much stuffing, only 4 not-so-big overcooked shrimp.
Jackie's Too at Perkins Cove: Nice seating out on an enclosed deck with heaters with an unbeatable view. We both had clam chowder which was tasty but way too thick and gummy for our tastes. He had scallops with bacon and blue cheese which he liked. I had a broiled seafood plate (a special that night) with scallops, shrimp, salmon and mussels over rice. It was ok, although the seafood was a bit bland. The best part of the meal, sadly, were the green beans, which were fresh and perfectly cooked.
We wanted to get to Wild Willy's but never made it. Next time.
Restaurants Outside Manchester, VT- worth the drive?
FYI: The Dorset Inn has changed hands (it's no longer owned by Sissy Hicks). They're gone through a steady rotation of head chefs, but apparently, from what I've heard, the latest one is pretty good. In Dorset, I'd pick the Inn at West View Farm if I had a choice. Excellent, asian-inspired food in a really lovely setting.
Also, if you're staying in Danby, the Red Brick Grill in Poultney isn't too far and it is superb. http://www.redbrickgrillvt.com/
In Manchester, have you ever tried the Depot Cafe? It's on Rt. 11/30 at the Richville Road light. It's a small cafe located inside a furniture/antique store and they have excellent middle eastern food and wood fired oven pizzas.
If you're up for an hour's drive, you could try Pangaea in North Bennington. http://www.vermontfinedining.com/ The lounge menu (which is what you get if you choose to eat outside) is definitely more casual than the dining room menu, but everything is delicious there.
And visit the Manchester and Dorset Farmers' Markets. Manchester's is Thursdays 3-6pm at the Rec. Center on Rt. 30 and Dorset's is on Sundays 10am-2pm at HN Williams Store in Rt. 30.
Barbour's Farm Market in Newton
I'm trying to call them (from Vermont) and the number is giving me an "no longer in service" message. Does anyone know if they've closed? If not, does anyone have a different phone number (or email) for them? The number I have is 617-965-4235.
Thanks!
Manchester, VT
FYI - Essex Green is closed.
Manchester Farmers' Market is Thursdays 3-6pm at the Rec. Center on Route 30. And there's plenty for the kids to do while the adults shop.
Dorset Farmers' Market is Sundays 10am-2pm on Route 30, about 6 miles from Manchester.
I'm not a huge fan of Candalero's but I think it's one of a handful of places you can eat outside in the summer. For sandwiches and other lunch stuff, I prefer the Lawyer & the Baker over Zoey's.
Finding kitchen supply stores?
I've never been to this place personally, but my business partner recommends it:
http://www.independent-restaurantsupply.com/default.cfm
It's in Portsmouth, NH, on the Rt. 1 Bypass.
It's more of a commercial restaurant supply, but I believe it is open to the public.
Lunch spots in Bennington, VT
The Bean and Leaf is pretty good. It has the usual coffee fare, plus a decent selection of lunch items. It's located behind the Paradise Motel, which is on Rt. 9 westbound, across from the Hemmings Sunoco station.
And Lil Britain has great fish 'n chips and they are open for lunch (and dinner), Tuesday through Saturday. http://www.lilbritain.com/index.htm
Izabella's is good. I find it a bit on the pricey side. Blue Benn is always a favorite, albeit completely different from Izabella's. Be warned: Blue Benn is cash only.
best cake in portland area?
I had one of the best cakes I ever had from Two Fat Cats Bakery. We ordered a red velvet cake for my birthday. A bit pricey, but excellent. I think it's owned by the same folks that own the Standard Bakery, also in Portland, of which I've heard good things as well.

Best Donuts in New England
Horrible news! I'm glad we at least made in there at least once, but so sad they're gone.
Favorite Keurig K Cups???
My husband loves the Coffee People Jet Fuel. I like the Caribou Coffee French Roast. I'll have to try the Black Tiger.
Smokin' Bowls, Rockingham VT
I had some of their soup while at the Vermont Life Wine and Harvest Festival back in September--it was really really good. I think it was a butternut squash bisque. The portion was so big I don't think I even finished it. And the prices were very reasonable. Seems like the perfect location, too--a little oasis off the highway. Hope they do well.
EO Noodle in Framingham, Mass. closed?
Thank you! That's great news!!
Since moving from the metrowest area to Vermont, that is the one place that we really pine for. I hope they stay open. I think we may have to make a special New Year's trip down there.
Dan Dan Noodles
My favorite, too, but I just heard that they've closed, or are closing. No confirmation on this yet, though. Saddest restaurant closing news so far (for me anyway).
