just moved to ann arbor from san francisco, so i'm looking forward to adding ann arbor restaurants to this list. for now, it's all bay area: the girl and the fig (sonoma); la salette (sonoma); chow (san francisco -- it's really the pecan pie that does it for me); vic's chaat house (berkeley); zachary's pizza (berkeley/oakland)

I don't use it but it's a bit battered: the copy of the 1970s Cosmo Cookery that I found at a used bookshop. My mom used recipes from her copy to convince my dad that she knew how to cook. He was successfully deceived, and my mom still hasn't mastered more than perhaps 10 recipes.
