Philly Chowhounds: I'd like to hear
if you think Pasion or Osteria would be a better choice for a date on Friday 4/21. I'm spending the weekend in Philly with my wife and we want some great food. I've heard good things about both but have not been to either. We like both cuisines and don't really care much about price. We're planning on going out afterwards so location can play a role if there's cool bars/clubs in the vicinity of these restaurants (we know somebody at Polly Esthers - is that a cool place?). Service, ambiance quality of the food are all important to me. Any personal experiences / advice / recs on what to order would be helpful. Thanks in advance, Pete.
Nauvoo Grill Fair Haven, NJ..delicious!!!!!
I don't understand why they have all those windows. I knew the guy running it for a while and stayed far away. I think there is a new manager now but I'm scarred from too many terrible meals there. I go to the bar with my wife sometimes as its right around the corner from home. BTW I think the Raven and Nauvoo have the same owners. Had a great meal at the Raven and the Peach last Saturday night (inspite of the hour long wait for our reservation). I find it patchy there but very good last Saturday.
Has anyone dined at Sallie Tee's?
I've got to know; bgut please list the restaurants in Monmouth Couty that offer excellent food at any price range. I can only think of a handfull.
BTW: I had a brunch at Sallie Tee's and found it very forgetable but may give it another try as Deb Van D likes it so much.
Bahamas - LOCALS - please tell me what you miss eating when away from home [moved from International Board]
Faithdog - I dont think the island is that big. I'm sure there are a number of taxis waiting to get you from here to there.
Bahamas locals - Not too much from you huh?
Ida - Thanks for the tip I'll check it out.

I'll be staying at Westin Grand Bahama Island Our Lucaya Resort on Grand Bahama Island. I figure one night we'll go to Nobu at Atlantis but I need help with the local food. Also what is the nightlife like Sun - Wed, any places to recommend? Thanks, Pete
I can't believe that no one is talking about Bay Ave Trottoria in Highlands NJ
I ate at indgo moon one time and have been meaning to tr it since. I ordered the duck and it was far too well done (oredered rare). I've never had dorris and eds but their oyster menu appeals to me.
**Copper Canyon should be included in the discussion of Highlands area eateries - even since moving to its new accomidation**
For lunch - they the oscar pannini sandwhich I'll pay if you dont like it.
Dinner - Seafood stew, Pork chop, Steak if its on special (old J&M specialty), crab cake (old J&M specialty).
I dont like being the poster barer for Bay Ave but I think they have some of the best food around here.

They stopped doing the pizzas. I never had one there but I bet it was good. The ace in the sleve of Bay Ave Trot is that Joe reall cooks EVERYTHING to an excellent degree of doneness.

I'm visiting the island next month hoping it wont rain too much. I know most of the grub in the restaurants is overpriced and overcooked. I'm looking to find simple and delicious food unique to the island. Thanks for your help.

I havn't been looking at the mid-lantic boards all that much and I'm suprised to see that no one is talking about this place. Joe and Maggie (the Joe and Maggie that made the Long Branch restaurant so good) opened up a little BYO place that has great grub. I'm a Basil T's (Red Bank) fan and I think Bay Ave gives them a real run for their money, surpassing them in many dishes. My faves:
Seafood Stew - somehow they figured out how to make a mixed seafood dish with out every thing being over cooked. Salty? Maybe but very good.
Breadded pork chop - how did it get that big? Nice with the mustard sauce and broc rape.
Great sandwhiches for lunch too.
Does anybody thats been to Bay Ave disagree with me?
HELP! NY chowhound in Boston needs dining advice
OK today is decision day.
Let me first say thanks for the great response I've gotten here, I hope to payback that when you all visit NY metro.
I have a reservation for troquet, bricco and Prezza.
Troquet look like it would have the best cuisine but it might be too chi chi for my colleague. Don't want to find out if they know what aspagas foam is.
I really liked the look of the apps and pastas at Prezza but the entrees seem uninspired.
Bricco has a great menu but if they can't make good on it taste-wise than it’s no good.
Any final thoughts?

Thanks for the input. I don't want to make that big a deal about the romantic thing - I just want it to be about business. I'm having a hard time deciding. I know how easy it is to spend big bucks on a mediocre meal. I've been really into Italian cuisine (I was lucky enough to go to Lupa and Del Posto last month) and I liked the menu Bricco - or am I crazy. I read here that they are in-between chefs.
I will check out Troquet just now. Is there nightlife around Troquet for a drink afterward?

I'll be in Boston next week and I'd like to take a colleague out for dinner at a nice place. Easy right? We'll just to make it interesting I won't be in the City of Boston until 9:00 - 9:30pm.
My ideal place has great wines by the glass, seasonal ingredients and menus and not that romantic of an atmosphere. Location isn't important as long as you can get there with a taxi from the airport. And I need a reservation next week so it can’t be too hard to get into (I don’t know if that’s a problem on a Wed night). I'm open to cusine. Price isn't important.
Thank you in advance for your comments.
