Atelier Crenn 15-Course Vegan Tasting Menu with Wine Pairings

probably the only place i'd eat vegan - she can work miracles with anything. can't wait to hear about it!

What's for Dinner #147

Oh boy. i had bad news this a.m. - the oldster's only remaining sibling in Bolivia died this a.m. - she was 86 and it was well past her time but I was afraid how he would take it, having been very close to all his siblings, and being the youngest and now the only one left. i waited until i could go over after work. PHEW, he took it remarkably well - sadly, yes, but sensibly, stoically, knowing it was her time. such a relief that it's not going to set him back any.

dinner was a roast chicken my sister bought at Costco, and - OH, CH PEEPS - not only did i not begin any sort of low-carb regimen, but i ate a corn on the cob slathered in butter and salt, AND two golden potatoes boiled, cut into slices, with a sliver (more like a slab) of butter on each slice, and plenty of salt. DAMN, i love potatoes SO MUCH.

some of my skirts have now fled the building in search of the jeans.

that sauce with the cream cheese sounds mighty fine, LW.

and you're hanging in with ATWI80P, eh?

What's for Dinner #147

WOW - that is a thing of beauty. and that crab looks delicious!

shecrap: love your typo. and your dinner.

What's for Dinner? #146 - Memorial Day Edition [old]

definitely good advice. as lazy as i am, i am also still chomping at the bit to go running again. and yes, with extra weight put back on, that would not be good. besides, that urge will probably end as soon as i am able!

and i do agree that less carbs can be nothing but helpful, lingua and gs.

everyone and their injuries! all you youngsters on this thread - listen to these cautionary whales - er, tales! (i couldn't resist, it's my sister's joke.)

What's for Dinner #147

yum, lucky little gymnast!

Itinerary for our honeymoon in SF/Napa. Thoughts?

yep, it sucks, but it's true. maybe the restaurants here will do what Chicago apparently did and sell toast points or whatever accompaniement for $20 and "give" the foie away for "free."

What's for Dinner #147

???? sounds awesome! liver yummmmmm....

What's for Dinner #147

sounds a lot like my chili fixings....

What's for Dinner #147

you're close, at least in pronunciation! feijoada! which i love as well.

What's for Dinner #147

nice, even with the so-so weather. keep enjoying, i'm still living vicariously.

What's for Dinner #147

believe me....

What's for Dinner #147

good to hear that was temporary pain only, LW!

that chicken does sound wonderful!

Last minute trip to San Francisco for First Timer - Approve my Itinerary Please

Your snack at Swan may only happen if you get over there pretty early - any time after 11-ish and you could be in a 2 hour line. i'm a fan of Swan, but you should definitely not miss the Ferry Bldg Farmer's Market if you have to pick between the two.

OR, you could do your Ferry outing Thursday - there's a somewhat limited market and prepared foods offering on Thursdays there, and then save your Sat. early lunch for Swan.

If you're looking for a replacement for Mission Chinese, try Z&Y Garden in Chinatown. straightforward szechuan, not fusion-y or a "riff" on Chinese like MC, but great. Otherwise, I'd say just hop on Bart and head to the Mission District anyway, and walk up and down until you find something you like. Tons of choices there.

Tater Salad: How Do You Take It?

i made this the other day, from a post of BabsW - and she credited you, gg!
my only complaint with the dish is that i used the canned and then forgot to rinse them first. very rookie error. otherwise, it was fantastic.

Tater Salad: How Do You Take It?

mmm...i'll have to try it with the tarragon. what does mexican mint marigold taste like?

What's for Dinner #147

grazie! (on the bf's behalf.)

: )
good to see you on here!

What's for Dinner #147

wow, those are a lot of frogs missing some legs!

hope the time flies by for you til you get there, gs!

What's for Dinner #147

so the BF's dinner did indeed include a carb but it was SO tasty, and he only gave me a little bit - something he's calling "fauxsotto", made from a batch of rice he undercooked the other night, to which he added stock, in stages, and threw in some sauteed shrooms and parmesan, and a little butter. the chicken was thighs he deboned and sauteed til the skin was UBER crispy. a dee-lite. and a nice fresh salad on the side. now i'm munching on strawberries he washed, cut up and served me. i think i'll keep him around just a little. bit. longer.

Make ahead meals for Elderly

hey, you like them, don't go apologizing!

Wheat Thins - Spicy Buffalo

i didn't like Spicy Buffalo ones - hence, not addictive for me. I did love the Smokey BBQ ones, and i did find THOSE addictive. i was easily able to part with the mostly untouched box of the Spicy Buffalo. I was only able to part with the Smokey BBQ once i'd gotten half-way up my arm into the box.

Trip Report: Cotogna, Ferry Building, Atelier Crenn, Koi Palace

definitely Cotogna over Commonwealth.

Zuni chicken is nothing like a Costco chicken, but it's not all it's cracked up to be either. To me. I prefer Range's chicken.
