Any place in Los Angeles similar to Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ in Florida? My few memories of my business trip to Florida was trying Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ. And I really liked it. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place out here in LA that is similar and good. Slice Pork Sandwiches and Sliced Beef sandwiches was what I tried. |

i like this place in pasadena on Glenarm and Marengo called Oba. So far I've gotten good service and I like several of their special rolls (the ones not on the menu but listed on a dry erase board by the sushi bar). I have a 2 year old, so i've only eaten at a table there...i haven't eaten at the sushi bar area yet |

Any Cheap Chinese-style Crab deals? JR Seafood has had this special for a while, and they have deals for peking duck and lobster as well...can't beat the prices but the food is only ok...it was 7.99 for the crab but after eatting it...i realized that i would pay more for better tasting crab and peking duck...if i were craving crab (which i am) i woudn't go there...but if i just happened to be eatting there...i still order the crab and peking duck because is sooooo cheap |

Low Sodium Smoked Salmon - Where to buy i was walking around in the new WholeFoods Flagship store in Pasadena and noticed that they have their own Smoked Seafood section where they smoke the food themselves...you can probably call them to see what their sodium content is for their smoked salmon |

New Capital Seafood: King crab, dungeoness crab, and shrimp special I went to New Capital on Valley/Del Mar tonight...they didn't have the crab or regular shrimp deal...but they did have the 99 cent huge prawns deal if you order 28 dollars or more which was easy to do...but you can only get one pound for 99 cents...proba, ably because it was soooooooooooo crowded...food was good...ordered braised pork and taro clay pot which was really good and tried the walnut spare ribs (like walnut shrimp but with rib meat), beef with XO sauce, and a steam chicken...portions were pretty good sizes and fed 4 of us hungry guys...ended up costing 41 dollars...so it wasn't too bad....but really wanted the crab deal to be there..that what we all wanted..oh well...next time |
yep...they will be closed for good as of tomorrow...i will definitely miss them and their curry! |
i usually get the pork cutlet curry and i pay extra for spicy level 9...however...i heard that they will be closing soon because one of the owners or something is getting married and moving out of town...but if you do go and it's still open...they are taking sign ups for a cookbook that they might be putting out... actually i think they'll be closing this saturday?? but not positive |
i loved the gumbo at Les Sisters in Chatsworth...but the last several times i went it is not spicy anymore...still good but i miss the spicyness...i think not too many customers ordered it because it was too spicy so they toned it down...also it's an okra-less gumbo but filled with shrimp, sausage, fish, whole pieces of crab, chicken wings...kinda of a pain to eat with the bones and shells but its worth it...haven't found anything comprable yet but i haven't been to too many places that serve gumbo...i am tempted to try patti la belle's cookbook recipe though |
i finally was able to go out to Belacan Grill today and tried the chilli crab (i had to drive out from pasadena and i have 8 month year old which makes it harder to go out to eat now)....it was pretty good but was hoping for it to be a bit more spicy but i guess i could've had the pepper crab...it was missing the guts of the crab though...but it would've been worse for my cholesterol levels if it included it....I enjoyed the place and i'll probably go back when i can find time and try other stuff on the menu!!! |

Authentic Chicago Style Pizza Pie Place??? Deep Dish...I've been to Uno's and BJ's but after reading the chicago pizza discussion that Dommy posted...i guess i wrongly stereotyped Chicago Style as all being deep dish/stuffed...so what i'm really craving is a good stuffed pizza...after reading the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago-... , i realize that i have a lot to learn about chicago pizza types |
