Worst Meal EVER! Food Resto Lounge - Gay Village

6 of us had dinner here on a busy Friday night. The restaurant was packed, normally a good sign. The panic set in when the too-cool waiter came with our wine. He held 6 glasses in one hand and put the bottle of wine under his arm pit!! If that wasnt bad enough, he asked my friend to take the wine out from this sweaty area! Gross!

We then ordered our meals, I will only speak of the grossest moment since I would be writting for quite sometime if I described the entire meal!

My friend ordered the hamburger and fries. What came was a decent sized burger that looked homemade. What followed was the first bite... a tough, fatty piece of meat that was held together by the biggest piece of gristle ever... completley inedible.

When others started to complain about their meal being inedible as well (including me with the most heavily mayonnaised salad that was to include Lobster, but was more of a mystery fish), I decided to approach the Hostess and tell her of our concerns. This should have been evident as most of our meals were left completely untouched, however, the waiter never came back to check on us once! When I told the Hostess of our issues, she was very appoligetic and said she would see what she could do.

What she did was send the arm pit waiter back to our table... how nice. When my friend showed him the pience of gristle, which she lifted off of her untouched burger, still completely intact, fat and all, its what he did next that really was the icing on the cake. He lifted her plate, grabbed the gristle and TOOK A BITE FROM IT!!! He then commented that it tasted fine to him and that it wasn't ground beef, it was Filet Mignon!!!

That was it.... a fast exit was made with a tip that refected our dismay. There are many great restaurants in Montreal, places I have travelled from Toronto just to eat at, this was the worst meal of my life.

Best cocktails and martinis in GTA

I love the cocktails at Note Bene... they used a torch to sear the lemons and lime for a caramalized flavour!

Frank at the AGO - anyone been for dinner?

I did the prix-fixe menu there on Valentines Day... prob not my smartest move to begin with! I was not impressed at all. We were sat in the back at a table that was lit with what felt like an interrogation light directly on us... we moved as we felt like we were on display at the gallery! I will return for brunch and for a non Prix-fixe menu and hope it plays out better!

Yummy Macarons in Toronto

The best Macaroons I have eaten are at Bonjour Brioche! They are HUGE, crispy and delicious! I also saw good looking ones at Atelier Thuet in Liberty Village that were chocolate dipped!

looking for what's new and great in MTL

Going to MTL for the weekend, looking to celebrate a friend's birthday. Something new with great food and not a lot of attitude. something along the lines of Bu, or what Le Deux used to be. Hotel restos welcome as well. Area would be limited to the plateau or mile end or even downtown but willing to go a bit further out if it's stellar.

Good Dining in Windsor, ON

Definately go to Bubbi's if you like garlic! Chicken strips and burgers with a side of Bubbi's sauce and sweet potato fries are the best! Not fine dining but good eats!

El Jacalo - anyone tried it?? (bloor, just east of dufferin)

I had been to the old El Jacalito in Royal York Plaza and it was great! They had a Mexican buffet and a show for a reasonable price. The food was authentic and they also did take out.. the pork burrito was my mom's favorite! It sounds like this new place may not put on a show but the food is certainly worth a try!

Big Apple (Colborne) Report

I too visited the Big Apple on the way to Ottawa... had a decent Caramel Apple... however I agree with TorontoJo, service by ANYONE should represent the type of business that is trying to be run. I would never return to a establishment if I was treated the way Mickeyj was...
