Pls review my Scottsdale rest choices-what am I missing?

Pls review my Scottsdale rest choices-what am I missing?

Hi there! I'll be in scottsdale with 4 girlfriends at end of March (fri-sun). For fri we have dinner reservations at citizen public house, sat dinner at FnB, and Sunday brunch at Zuzu. I'm looking for lunch options on fri and Saturday, preferably not fine dining and at least one option that features southwest cuisine. I would love to try fry bread but we don't want to leave Scottsdale... Also, what are your thoughts on kazimierz wine bar for drinks? Thank you so much!!

Best Croissants?

i just love baguette et chocolat's pastries. i think their croissants are excellent--all varieties.

What to serve with Banh mi at birthday party

Im going to be serving an assortment of Banh mi for the adults attending my kids bday party. What should I serve on the side? has to be really easy as I'll have a house full of out of town guests-prefer something prepared night before. Even considering purchasing frozen potstickers and making dipping sauce. Any suggestions? Thx in advance....

Juice cleanse

i'm so fascinated by how personally people are taking other peoples' cleanses and fasts.

Catering Tam Deli Banh Mi

no one? how about this: any one cater banh mi sandwiches from anywhere in austin? if so, from where and how was it? Thanks!

Juice cleanse

wow, thanks for sharing your "humble" opinion. i'm not a victim of anything, actually, and am quite pleased with my decision to do a one day fast.

Juice cleanse

i simply wanted to have a day or two without solids--i had indulged way too much over the holidays and read about the supposed benefits of cleanses. i was curious and wanted to try. quite frankly my body was screaming at me for the damage i did to it! so i tried a 1-day "cleanse" from snap kitchen. it didnt change my life obviously, but it felt good to do no solids for a day.

Catering Tam Deli Banh Mi

I've been to Tam Deli a few times and love the food. I'm thinking about catering an assortment of their banh mi for a party, but want to find out if any chowhounders have ever catered from them before or ordered a large order of banh mi? Was quality just as good? thanks!

Any cool spots (that serves really good food) that will be showing the Pats game on Sat night?

We have friends visiting who really want to watch the Pats game on Saturday night. I actually got a babysitter that night to take them out, and I think I'll cry if I have to sit in a lame bar eating lousy bar food. Originally I wanted to go to Contigo, but don't want to chance it if they're not showing game. Any recs? Thank you.

Which trailer park to take out of town guests

Great recs, thx so much. I should've mentioned we'll have two small kids with us. I love East Side King but it's impossible with kids, and we'd rather not eat Indian since most of us are Indian : ). I guess I was leaning toward a trailer park (limited walking) because of the kid factor... With that said, you still stand by these recs or should I venture elsewhere?

Which trailer park to take out of town guests

Hi there- I'd like to take my foodie friends to a trailer park with great food- having a few different options is key. So far I've come up with the one on 6th and Waller (its been a few mos since I've been-what's currently there?) and I heard there's a great little area with trailers (chai Thai) on Jessie street. Would live to know if either fits bill or anything other park is better. Open to all cuisines and price points. Thanks in advance.

store bought frosting-how many days can it be left out (unrefridgerated)?

hi there-i used store bought frosting (don't ask) to frost some sugar cookies for a bday party. I plan to store the frosted cookies in an airtight container. I frosted them today, and the party is this Saturday. Is it okay for me to leave the frosted cookies in their container till Sat? or should they be refridgerated? Thanks!

Nutley area Restaurant recs?

Hi there,
I'm not too familiar with the area so could use your suggestsions. I'd love to give my friend a restaurant gift certificate ($50) to spend on a delicious meal in her neck of the woods. She's open to all cuisines. Thank you!!!

Best Christmas Cookies-store or bakery bought

Hi there,
I'd like to purchase good quality christmas cookies, as well as ginngerbread (the cakey kind, not crispy). What are the best stores or bakeries for this? Thank you.

Catering hot dogs for birthday party

enlightening. thanks.

Catering hot dogs for birthday party

hi all-funny enough, i just wrote a post about my interest in a juice "cleanse." here i am now asking for your recs for a trailer/restaurant/catering business that would provide hot dogs--including turkey dogs, and a veggie option along w/ hot dog fixings. I cannot spend a ton of money on this--it's for a 3 yr old's party.

I know I could make this on my own cheaper, but i'll have a house full of out of town guests, and have decided that i just can't make the commitment to make all the food. any ideas and personal experience you can share?

Juice cleanse

Has anyone tried a 3 day juice cleanse on this board? If so, any recommended prepared juices to purchase in Austin? If you have thoughts on taste of juices and program specifications pls share! Thx!!

Seeking Italian groceries-Whole Foods or Central Market?

thanks for the feedback! i'd like to stick with one of these stores since i have to pick up other provisions like wine/beer, and regular grocery shopping. thank you.

Seeking Italian groceries-Whole Foods or Central Market?

Hi all,

I'd like to buy lots of prepared items for an antipasto (cheeses, salamis, olives), excellent pesto, and fresh pastas for a dinner party. Do you recommend flagship Whole Foods or Central Market for this? Or do both have equally good selections? Thanks!

Which Momofuku resto for Saturday LUNCH?

thnks for the great feedback. i think we're going to try for Ssam bar bc we are dying to try the pork buns + we won't have time for a long meal which we'd get at Ko (we'll save that for the next trip). Thnks for the thoughtful responses.

Which Momofuku resto for Saturday LUNCH?

Hi there! My husband and I will be visiting NY in November, and would love to try one of David Chang's restaurants--It'll be Saturday for lunch (I hope we can get there on the early side to avoid lines!) Preferably would also like to be able to walk to Milk Bar for dessert. Can you kindly recommend which restaurant would fit the bill? Sadly, not enough of us to do a fried chicken or Duck meal. Thank you in advance.

Hit a dead end with my Italian Menu for large crowd

great suggestions everyone. I'd like to keep it vegetarian since many kids (at least mine) are not big meat eaters, and most of us in the group do not eat beef so no meatballs. i like the idea of pasta--and would LOVE to do a pumpkin ravioli--but like some of you mentioned not confident it'll fly with the kiddos. Have any of you tried Ina Garten's Penne with 5 cheeses recipe? i like the idea of it bc it is creamy and has tomato. recipe is similar w/ some of your ziti recipes. I think i would take out the gorgonzola bc of kid factor: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/penne-with-five-cheeses-recipe/index.html

i think serving chicken OVER polenta is ideal and would help prevent polenta from firming up quickly however i have to keep them separate bc of the vegetarians in the group--i know, we're a tough crowd : )

Hit a dead end with my Italian Menu for large crowd

Hi there,
I think i've overthought this menu and now i'm turned around and dizzy : ) I could use my fellow cooks' wise advice and suggestions.

i'm having a pumpkin painting party/dinner for approx 22 adults and 15 kids. I know I want to lay out a big antipasto platter with bruschetta (w/pesto and mushrooms). Main menu: Jamie Oliver's Hunter Chicken (making this day before), a big pot of polenta (Thomas Keller), a tomato salad with goat cheese and walnuts. Dessert will be store bought cupcakes and cookies.

I would like to add one additional pasta dish that all the kids AND adults will love. I think it should be creamy, and the key is that it's EASY to make. If i can make the sauce ahead of time that would be helpful as I have a 6 month old and 2 yr old and for some reason i've taken it upon myself to invite a ridiculous number of people (KIDS!!) : ) thank you in advance for helping me!

Simple but Delicious Roasted Chicken to go with Italian meal?

these are terrific suggestions-thank you. i've shifted gears a bit, and instead of doing roasted chicken and a few pastas as originally planned, i think i need recipes that i can do the day before. so i think a braised chicken is called for so i can do it the day before. i think i'll serve with polenta, and some roasted veggies (easy). i'll prob make one kid friendly pasta dish.

Simple but Delicious Roasted Chicken to go with Italian meal?

Hi there! I'm inviting 6-8 families (with small kids) over for an Italian meal. I plan to serve an antipasti, 2 pasta dishes, and salad. I'd like to include a **Simple but blow you away roasted chicken. I don't want to make a whole chicken though, and have to carve just because it's going to be chaotic with lots of children running around. I'd like to use an already cut up chicken. Pls send me your ideas/recipes!!

Thank you in advance.

Where to cater Thanksgiving meal from in Carlsbad?

Hi there,
Approx 15 of us will be getting together in Carlsbad for Thanksgiving, and we would like to cater our Thanksgiving meal (we'll be staying in a house) with the traditional works. Could you kindly recommend a local grocery store or restaurant that would fit the bill? We all love food, and would need a few vegetarian side items. Also, any amazing restaurants not to be missed where we can bring a large family that includes children? I heard that there's a great brunch, I think at LaCosta, but not sure if it's appropriate with kids. Thanks!

Great food with veggie options and music for couple in their 60's

Hi there,
I'd like to suggest a place for friends who are looking for a nice sit down place (they're vegetarian), with live music. They are in the their 60's, and prob prefer some placey not too divey, but with a nicer ambiance. They iive in Lakeway but wouldnt mind traveling to downtown. Thanks!

Is it worth driving to Trattoria LisIna??

Can you give some details on Sienna? Any other recs for special bday dinner with a view?? Thx!!

Is it worth driving to Trattoria LisIna??

I'd like to take my husband out for dinner some place special for his bday-preferably some place with a beautiful view but where we can sit inside. Well have our 2 little ones with us as well as 3 family members who are vegetarian ( my husband and I are carnivores). Does this Trattoria fit the bill? It's a hike for us so I want to make sure that it's worth it. We live in Bee Caves-anything closer? No interested in places like Oasis this time. Thx!
