Antica Pesa

Disagree with sushiman. The food is good, I've been there several times and I've ordered the same thing. Bucatini Amatriciana and a salad with some red wine. Their rendition is the beat I've ever had. A friend of mine had some wild boar stew over polenta, it was excellent. Check it out, not atypical Billy's burg joint more like Soho. Excellent gracious service as well.

Going to LA staying downtown

We are New Yorkers and we hit all the NY and Brooklyn hot spots. We are visiting LA and staying downtown at the Biltmore which is where the wedding party is staying, can you give me a great place for dinner close to the downtown area. A place where the food is great anything will do, price is not an issue. Just give me a unique to LA place no chains, it can be classic, it can be California cuisine, or new and inventive, don't care. Thanks

Lunch Dinner in Tuscany while husband holds the bags

My wife and I are headed to Florence in a week or so on a business/pleasure trip. We will be spending the first 3 night s in Florence and we are committed. I know On Sunday my wife will want to go the Prada-Gucci outlets were I'll be driving and carrying her bags (it's all good). Does anybody know if the outlets are open on Sunday, what time they open and where can we get a great Sunday lunch nearby. After that we are staying in a fancy schamncy hotel outside Montalcino can anybody give some good does (not have to be fancy-schamnacy) local mom and pop or fancy places to eat in that area. We will use Montalcino as a base and travel throughout Tuscany, I'm a good wheel man so it does not bother me. Thanks everybody

Coming in for the weekend

Chi-town is packed this weekend apparently the American Association of oncologists has a convention this weekend we are coming in to check out my kids film project at NU. I booked the Peninsula which charges a kings ransom because of the the dearth of rooms caused by the convergence of docs. I have Blackbird booked for Saturday night but no reservations for Friday, we can eat late and don't mind eating at the bar. Where should we go, what's great and has a bar/ chef's table where we can walk in. Was Blackbird a good choice?

Coming to Chicago for graduation

My kid is graduating form Northwestern next month we are coming with grandparents who have some difficulty getting around so we are staying close to campus. Their will be ten of us, we are foodies (in fact I know I spoil my in fact for his gf birthday I sent my son and his gf to Alinea.its a good life being my kid) but my folks are not they like good food (pasta, steak, etc) but nothing to adventurous in fact my mother hates when we take her to a "fancy" place where they have big plates and small food. Where can we go with a group of ten. I was thinking Gibson's or a couple of places close to Evanston. Give me some suggestions Spiaggia? Blackbird?

Del Posto gets 4 stars

Hey folks it's all good, I had dinner at Del Posto a couple of months ago and was actually surprised how good it was, it is a great restaurant with wonderful wine service. I ate a t 11 Madison two weeks ago again great restaurant. Been to Babbo a bunch of times its always excellent as its less expensive sister Lupa. Sam Sifton's reviews are enjoyable to read they are literate and have a sense of humor, plus he's a Brooklyn boy which gives a one up with me.

River Cafe

Say what you will call it a tourist trap, or a bridge and tunnel haven for no nothing surburbanites, get your nose out of the air this is a first class resturant with great food, great atmosphere, solid service and (of course) high prices. Is it Chanterelle or Daniel....no...but its good very good and yes worth the coin.

Great but Casual near the Peninsula

Hi we are coming in from NY to visit our kid in school, we dine out often in NY so we eat all cuisines. We are staying at the Peninsula, we'd like two great Chicago resturants that are not chains, typical to Chicago or just overall great, and no jacket and tie requirement (just taking carry on). I'm thinking of the Frontera Grill please give me other suggetions. Also we'd like it near or relatoively close to the hotel. Thanks
