Umami Burgers....Worth the price ??
Just found out that Umami Burgers have opened a branch in Thousand Oaks (Nate and Als Deli old spot )
Looked at the menu online , as I've never been to an Umami Burger before. The burgers sound great but they are pricey....$10.00 to $15.00 per burger befor adding any sides (i.e. fries rings, etc. )
anyone tried these ?
I dont mind paying if this is a GREAT burger

Electric smoker pulled pork
IMHO 1 hour of smoke will just not give you the flavor, not to mention the all important "smoke ring". When I smoke my pork butts, I smoke em all the way with lite smoke the whole time. Cook to 190-195 degrees, rest for an hour or three and pull and eat. Doesnt get much better than that.

You know the place...good selection of ice cold beer and great eats, i.e. burgers, sliders, tacos, sandwiches and such. Kind of like Fathers office without the pompus bullsh*t. The kind of place where you finish the last bite and turn to who you are with and say "wow, that was really good"
Parboiling Baby Back Ribs???
Plese enlighten me....you say Parboiling "is definitely a good method to produce award winning ribs." ....... I have never heard of anyone getting an award for BBQ'd ribs cooking in this method. Every BBQ pitmaster that I have ever heard, seen, or read oppose boiling in any way. The flavor loss is just not worth the time saving.
Langer's Pastrami
Been to both several times and for me, Langers is the better of the two. Its the bread that brings it to another level. That rye bread with its crusty exterior and the soft warm insides is shear perfection. Paired with the salty,peppery,juicy pastrami,and I think Katz pastrami is on par,I dont see how a pastrami sandwich can get any better than this.......Damn, its almost 4 and I'll never make it in time, oh well, there is always tomorrow

I was there today too ! Bought 2 packs of 2 nice filets each. Cant beat it at $8.99 for fresh CR Sockeye..........cant wait for dinner PoachSalmon served with a white wine mushroom cream sauce .........mmmmmm

Fresh Fish at Ventura Harbor
Went this morning . Nice fish. They had Ahi....10.00 per pound , Albacore (frozen) 5.00 per pound, Mako shark ....7.00 per pound, Swordfish....14.00 per pound, Mahi Mahi ( Dorado )....10.00 per pound, Opah.....10.00 per pound . All these prices are for cut fish. The prices for whole fish were much less. Spent about 200.00 for a nice selection, very satisfied
