What do you make for breakfast on Christmas morning?

We make Orange Bread. It's a quick bread with candied orange peels. We toast slices of it, slather them with butter and have lots of hot coffee. It's delicious and you still have room for the early Christmas dinner, and your stocking candy.

Marysville, WA Area Dining Prospects (within thirty minutes)?

I love love love your list! What a great resource. I'm new to the area and can use any good eats resources. Do you have any suggestions for breakfast places? I go to church in Arlington, but live in Seattle. Any place between north Seattle and Arlington is good for me. Anything you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Valentines Day visiting Portland

Maybe you didn't really read the post. Valentines day is on a Saturday this year, on a 3 day weekend no less. My sweet heart and I are going to Portland, and staying in a hotel. We will be needing to eat, and we want to go out. I need recommendations WHERE to go in Portland, not IF I should go out at all. I realize it will be busy, but I would like help booking a restaurant. We are from Seattle and don't know Portland that well From these 2 posts is seems there is a considerable amount of grumpy unromantic people. In addition to that are there any good restaurants????? please?

Seattle Bakery???

I am in search of the best CAKE bakery in Seattle. I need either a German Chocolate Cake or a Black Forrest Cake. Please let me know where to get it??? I need a good bakery recommendation, as far north as Bellingham and as far south as Tacoma. the whole Seattle area. Thanks!

Valentines Day visiting Portland

My valentine and I are planning on taking the 3 day weekend and heading down to Portland. We are staying in the Hotel Fifty, hopefully its as nice as it looks online. We will have a car with us. We are looking for a nice place for Valentines dinner. We like pretty much every type of cuisine.
We are looking for a nice atmosphere, and good food for valentines night. I would also like less romantic suggestions for the whole weekend, a good place to get lunch, somewhere with good chocolates and good coffee. Whats best in Portland. Thanks!

In Seattle on a college-budget

I second that! They're delicious, I had dinner there last night. Also its totally the opposite end of the spectrum I love Dicks hamburgers. Really simple. Good local company, who give all their workers benefits. Also everything is made fresh. Best fried ever. Really good and cheap!

I always enjoy _____, no matter how bad it is.

French Fries, Chicken Noodle Soup, and beets.

Posole, and other GREAT Mexician in and around Seattle or Bellingham??

Sasha,
I do live in Bellingham. I would love to get together. I don't really know how to email you using chowhound. You could try me at blue_star_6@yahoo.com. It would be great to make a friend in Bellingham.

Posole, and other GREAT Mexician in and around Seattle or Bellingham??

I am a recent transplant from California. I live alone, in a small studio and am still making friends. So making a huge pot of delicious Posole is probably more than I can take right now. Also my boyfriend who lives in Seattle via Alaska has never had Posole, and I don't want his first expereince with the heavenly soup to be one I made. I need something that tastes like your abuelita spent all day making it; not like a freckley white girl from California made it.

So I am looking for great Mexican restaurants. They can be a hole in the wall or they can be pricey. I am particularly craving Posole, but hand made tortillas, fantastic mole, and good tamales are hard to find this close to the wrong border. Please help a girl out.

Eating on Whidbey Island

I just moved up to Bellingham from Monterey, California. I went to Toby's Tavern, in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. They serve Penn Cove Mussels. These are the best mussels I've ever had. Before trying them I didn't think I liked mussles. I can not recommend these mussels enough. PENN COVE MUSSELS! They are sold as far south as Seattle, and up into Bellingham at least. But they are freshest right in Coupeville, sitting at a window front booth is a really casual tavern. Toby's makes their own brew too. They are right on the water, with great views, really reasonably priced. Their mussels are amazing but they aren't a fancy place. They're more a good place to stop for lunch. Across the street there's a great ice creme store. Lots of great flavors, like summer blackberry on the day I went there.
No matter where you eat make sure you get some Penn Cove mussels, they are like a revelation on how good mussels can be. I highly recommend them!

Thanksgiving in Monterey

In my experience Stokes is one of the worst restaurants, avoid it!

Found something new and good in Seaside

I had the best experience last night at The Noodle Bar in Seaside. I had driven past it a week ago, and noticed the tiny little restaurant on Fremont St. across from Cost Plus. When I walked in I got the warmest greeting from the owner, who also surprisingly owns my favorite pedicure place down the street. My friend and I each got bowls of Pho, the fantastic Vietnamese noodle soup. She got chicken and I got a mixed bowl with the most tender port cutlet. Each bowl was only $5! The broth was a perfect blend of spices. I don’t like spicy, but they make some of their own chili blends that looked like they might be good if you like spicy stuff. After the Pho, which was big enough to have been the whole meal, my friend and I split their Banana Tapioca pudding and their fried bananas. The pudding was fantastic, refreshing and beautifully light. This restaurant is one of the many little tucked away ethnic jewels on Fremont St in Seaside. I recommend it to everyone! Good things come in little packages, check it out!

India's Clay Oven in Monterey

Love, Love, Love this place, great lunch buffet! I think its a great place to take people who are new to indian food too, because it gives youa chance to test out a little of everything to find what you like. Awsome! So good, honestly one of my favorite restaurants.

Sandwiches in Carmel/Monterey

Compagno's can't get enough love, that place kicks ass!

Dindin in Monterey

Ok Monterey has a lot of seafood restaurants. DO NOT get see food on cannery row, or the wharf, it is over prices and most is shipped in from the eats coast. But if you were a Bubba Gumps type of chump you wouldn't be on chow hound now would you? So in Monterey there is a great place called the fish house, its on Delmonte (2114 Del Monte Ave Monterey, CA 93940 831 373-4647) The service is touch and go, but the food is great! Really fresh seafood with perfect sauces, not to over powering, just lovely. If you have a group forget it though, it is an old house that was converted to a restaurant, 6 would be maxing it, 2-4 is best.
This is a great place in Monterey, but I am a local and my absolute favorite place is Phil's Fish Market. It is an active fish market that started with a small restaurant and the restaurant has taken over the place. It is the best, FRESHEST fish around, Phil is Sicilian so a lot of the menu has a Mediterranean theme, but it is possible to get just plane good fish too. I love this place! They even have cioppion for one; it is what they serve you once you get to heaven! It is a little hard to find. Check out their website athttp://www.philsfishmarket.com/

Have a good visit!
