These are helpful. Thanks. I was trying to remember the name of the soul food takeout place on 2nd avenue in Detroit. When we lived in Michigan we thought it was great. It may not exist any more. What place in Hamtramck for Polish; What Greek place? We are so out of touch and yes, I agree re: the pies at Baker's Square but nothing else.

I am heading back to Detroit for the first time without staying at the in law's and therefore my partner and I will be choosing our meal locations ourselves more often. We need breakfast, lunch and dinner suggestions so that we don't end up saying yes to Baker's Square.
We are very open to all great food suggestions - we love and miss Detroit style Lebanese food - its different in New York's Arabic communities; and for that matter we also miss Detroit's soul food - the more authentic the better. Other than 1 person not loving veggies we have no restrictions - she is very flexible and adventurous. We are comfortable at Eleven Madison Park and the authentic Vietnamese dive on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx so please do not hold back on suggestions because the place is a dive or expensive.
(By way of background, we are currently New Yorkers, 1 of us a native, the other a native Detroiter.)

We are preparing for our annual pilgrimage up 95 for vacation. For breakfast we need something great to start the vacation off right. We will be ready for breakfast anywhere from just past Stamford to the Clinton area. Any suggestions are really appreciated. We have hit Post Road Diner too often even though I still love it, others are tired of it.

We are heading up 95 to Cape Cod this Saturday and want to stop along the way for breakfast somewhere close to 95. Please suggest great breakfast locations along the way. We are leaving from Riverdale so we will want to stop for breakfast in CT. Westchester might be too early for breakfast.

Bronx recs: Up for a (cheap) adventure?
What a shame that you had that experience. I went twice in the last two weeks and have had a wonderful meal each time. It was only the second time that I though to ask what had happened to the older women (thinking they were on vacation). I encourage everyone to visit if you haven't before and to have both the vietnamese food and the also available african foods. I loved my Pho today and was logging on to comment how much better the beef in it seemed than in times past.

We'll be driving from NYC to pick up someone at Reagan airport in DC (on our way to mid VA) and we would like a great casual (bc. we'll be tired and cranky) food experience. I LOVE Vietnamese food and other Asian but we are very flexible and do not want to drive out of our way on the day before a holiday only to drive back towards the airport. (Did I mention that we will have driven several hours and will be cranky? ; ) ) In addtion, we would like to avoid cuisines that we believe cannot be done better than what is available in NYC such as thin crust pizza.
