Sitting next to my grandmother in her outdoor kitchen in Khulna dipping piping-hot whole wheat rotis straight off the tava, meltingly soft and smokey from the open flame, into tea made rich and thick with heaping teaspoons of Nido and sidr honey before dinner.
My current drink of choice:
Miller's Daughter from Hotsy Totsy
I really wish I could:
Backpack around Asia. Delayed gratification sucks.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Turkey sandwiches and a case of 5-Hour Energies. Law students don't cook. Although, if I have time and am in SoCal, I will bring pastries from Porto's.
My favorite comfort food:
Bengali Mommy food: spinach stir-fried with dried chilies; spicy mashed kabocha squash with shrimp; Indian “Hot Mix” toasted in a pan with rice crispies, fried onions, bits of green chili, and ginger, barely drizzled with mustard oil. ...And, hazelnut gelato. I don't know whether to eat it or roll around in it.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Top 5? Erm, I eat here often: El Taco Zamorano Restaurant, Burma Superstar, China Village
