Sapori D'Ischia Closed?

I know exactly who you are referring to. We stopped going there because of him as well. It's a shame as I really enjoyed the food.

Amber Steakhouse on Nassau Ave in Greenpoint?

It's been a while since I've gone, but I found the food to be quite good. It's no Luger, but for the prices they charge I wouldn't expect it to be.

Sunnyside: The Dog and Duck and Bliss 46 Bistro

I find their regular menu to be a little boring, but have enjoyed the specials every time.

Stumbled upon great way to keep bread fresh!

Us too. We started doing it just because we had no space and soon realized that the bread was lasting longer.

Stumbled upon great way to keep bread fresh!

I keep my bread in the microwave.

Quick question: Colicchio & Sons' Tap Room or Main Dining Room?

I've only been to the dining room and loved it. The food was excellent as was the service. Neither the food nor the atmosphere would cause problems for someone who is anxious in a nice restaurant.

Flanken Style Short ribs

I don't have anything in front of me, but any skirt steak recipe would work just as well with flanken.

Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat

Can you point to any code that says its illegal?

Top Chef Texas - Ep. #10 - 01/11/12 (Spoilers)

No excuses Linda!! You should have multiple tv's each with a different cable provider just in case something like this happens. I'm very disappointed in you.

Seriously, don't apologize...everyone will chip in with the details that you missed.

LOOKING FOR: Buffalo Trace Whiskey!

FreshDirect sells it and they get their liquor from union square wines.

F ottomanelli burgers in Woodside

I'm hoping they aren't going for fast food. I'd be more than happy to wait ten minutes for a good burger. Regarding the fries, I'm not really sure what makes a fry Belgian, but I liked them. Mine definitely had salt on them.

What was the most memorable CH thread this past year, in your opinion? [moved from the Not about Food board]

Wow, I can't think if anything else that would be a moderator hostage thread. Gonna have to think about it.

You referenced some really great threads, got some good reading done looking those over.

Otherwise known as the whitey thread.

F ottomanelli burgers in Woodside

They were definitely having some issues when I was there yesterday. We probably waited about 10 minutes for our burgers. Not sure what was causing it, but there was a pretty good stretch after we placed our order where nothing was coming out of the kitchen. So people who were there before us probably had a longer wait than we did. Once orders started coming out there was a decent flow. Seemed like pretty standard issues for a place that is still so new.

F ottomanelli burgers in Woodside

One of the guys from ottomanelli butcher shop opened a burger place right down the block. Just ate there and was pretty impressed. They had a couple of different kinds of patties such as chipotle and roasted garlic. I went for a basic patty and ordered a bacon double cheeseburger, which was two 4 oz patties with cheddar cheese and a couple slices of bacon. I thought the meat was a little underseasoned, my wife thought hers was fine. Also, my two patties were at different temps, one medium, the other med-rare. The meat was definitely high quality and in the half hour I was there I saw two different people bringing in fresh meat from the butcher shop. The fries were delicious.

They've only been open for about a week, so there are definitely some kinks that need to be worked out. But I will definitely be back, the burger was tasty and the fries were great.

You're argument that 8 other people were ok is like saying that not everyone who smokes gets cancer, so smoking must not be a health issue.

After you're "balderdash" comment, I will forever picture the monopoly man in my head whenever I read your posts.

I've stopped going because I think the service has gone downhill. I loved the food and couldn't care less about the charge for water. I think it's fine that people are upset about it, but I find it ridiculous when people tell me what I should be upset about just because we happen to use the same discussion boards.

Unexpected guests at a dinner party?

It's not the kids fault they are going to be there. It's the parents.

She also drank the tequila last night and made a comment or too that made it sound like it wasn't the first time.

When you say "we" are you implying that you worked for the food network? Just curious.

You mean like the numerous "like" and "+1" posts? I would rather have a like button than open long threads to only find that the only new posts are +1.

Sunnyside: The Dog and Duck and Bliss 46 Bistro

I'm technically in woodside, but a block or so away from sunnyside gardens. I don't think I've ever had fish and chips at cuckoos nest , but have enjoyed the food the few times I've been there.

Sunnyside: The Dog and Duck and Bliss 46 Bistro

I find the fish and chips options in sunnyside pretty bad in general these days. Had them at Molly blooms recently and think they're the best I've had in a while.

Servce at Peter Luger?

I think the service is great. You're not going to get someone gushing over you. What you will get is very professional servers, many of whom have been working there for quite a few years. I've never encountered rude service. They are efficient and won't stand around chit chatting. They'll take your order, make suggestions if they see fit and be on their way. I've never had an empty beer mug or had to flag anyone down for anything on any of my many meals there.

Forced to Rush Through Dinner at Pomegranate (moved from Ontario board)

I was aware at the time of booking that there was a time limit. They gently reminded me with 15 minutes to go.

Forced to Rush Through Dinner at Pomegranate (moved from Ontario board)

I was aware at booking that there was a time limit and was gently reminded with 15 minutes left. If we had decided to get dessert, I'm sure we would have slightly gone over the time limit. We decided to have a couple more pieces of sushi instead. To be fair, this is at a sushi counter, so slow service and kitchen problems really wouldn't be an issue.

I have no problem being told my time is up if I'm aware of a time limit ahead of time. The OP knew there was a time limit and had finished eating when the time limit came. I don't see how they were forced to rush. If they rushed through dessert, it appears that it was because they arrived late.
