Looking for Sausages and Cookies in Ridgewood
Forest Pork Store on Forest avenue is old school German and has excellent meat and really excellent sausage (IMHO). They are old school. I used to go to Bauers bakery in Middle Village for great German butter cookies but I think they are gone now.

Best fried chicken?
There was an altercation in front of his store in early November and one of the folks involved got into a car and drove it clear through the store basically destroying the place which forced Charles to close.

IMHO Rack and Soul on W. 109 and Broadway is really excellent. Charles Southern Kitchen is closed and most likely will not reopen but his recipe is used at Rack and Soul. They also use his recipe for ribs which also IMHO are out of this world.
Striphouse: food is fine, but is decor offputting?
I hope you stick with your Striphouse reservation. IMHO you have made the best choice relative to the alternate options you have mentioned and I really do not think the decor is offensive....neither does my wife.

Nwe Years Day Brunch
Having trouble finding a place that is open for a New Years Day brunch. All my faves are either closed or not serving brunch. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. I realize this is the Manhattan board but would take Brooklyn suggestions also.

I am not farmiliar with Cibo but will certainly give them a call. Italian would be the first choice but Chineese or Asian would also be a great choice. I would also Consider Brooklyn. Thanks, and if you have any other suggestions I would be most appreciative. Would like to get this nailed down before the weekend ends.

Need help. Surprise 30th birthday party for my daughter. Would love a place that has really good food and a laid back atmosphere for about 40 people. First Saturday night in December. Thought of Carmines but we would like a private room if possible. Any Ideas would really be appreciated. Thanks hounds.

I had a square pie there last Saturday with my sons. I thought the pizza was great and I agree with you that if your in the neighborhood Di Fara is the place to go but not worth the trip to Brooklyn if Di Marco is close by.
