Did this place change hands in the last few months? |
|
|
Our first visit to Mosca's was circa 1973. Our frequent visits to NO always mandate a journey to the little house. Always first class fare. Our visit last month was off. The crab salad was spot on, but the Cacciatore was pedestrian. It was if the sauce was made in a big pot, as opposed to separately in each pan of chicken. Anyone else notice this, or were our tasters off? |

By a length, Parasol's. However, Mahoney's is darn good. Parasol's meat seemed to be better cooked, tender, and almost mixing, blending, and disolving with the gravy. It seemed to be sliced uniformly. In both my poor-boy, and girlie's, Mahoney's had chunks that seemed outta place. I do believe that P's gives more meat., but since I was without adult beverage enhancment, this is somewhat suspect. Both are "A"s, but P's by a length. ----- |

Went to Mahoney's today. Only by a slight personal preference did their rings nose out Parasol's. Mahoney's were neutral, while Parasol's had a slight seasoning. Mahoney's fried green tomatoes and remoulade were unacceptable. The tomatoes were sliced too thick (about 3/8"-1/2") and the remoulade sauce was a zero. Simply pedestrian. ----- |

I answered my own question. We went to Parasol's for the RB poor boy and tried the onion rings. They were darn good. Thin, crispy, almost dusty, and abundant. As opposed to a completely neutral batter, they used some light seanoning, which is a personal preference item. ----- |

How to "split" a check equitably? I concur with the speak up in front crowd. When I wore a younger man's clothes, my motor cycle 'friends' and I would pull up to some joint and imbibe. I was, at that time, on the wagon for some dumb reason, My tab for a diet Coke would pale insignificant to the volumns of adult beverages my companions would consume. My solution was a separate tab to be paid at delivery, and when the wait staff would decline that, I would go to the bar, and buy my own. Problem avoided, notwithstanding chiding and abuse from the remaining crowd. |

New Orleans bread, not french bread. Is it true? It seems that what I think of as New Orleans bread is vanishing? I do not refer to the tan baguettes that seem universal to the town, but to the darker chewy bread, that I have not seen in a while. The tan stuff, al la, Leidenheimer is fine, even wonderful, but the darker, less crunchy slightly heavier stuff I recall is not in the places I frequent. Last I had it was Herbsaint. Is it my imagination? If someone has a line on a recipe, I will be satiated. |

is Fresco in Gainesville still good? Have not been in a while. For us, it is hard to drive past the Blue Highway in Micanopy. Need to go back. |

St Augustine and Daytona Beach fo 4 days Daytona is the black hole of Florida food. Nonetheless, About 3 miles north of SR40, No. of Ormond on A1A is a place named Bettys. Excellant Burgers, onion rings, and casual. |

Billy's is the best in the area. I describe it as a old goat's Cheers. Charles |

is there german food in florida??? The place north of Deland, is Karlings, and is in Deleon Springs. I am not a fan of german food, but this place is one of the best places I have dined. Very creative menu, such as sauerkrut soup. Sounds horrid for this semi-cajun,but very good. |

Who's Been to Mosca's Recently? it is a bit of a ride, probably 20 miles from downtown |

Who's Been to Mosca's Recently? Halfshell comments ..."Maybe the staff will start to get the message" To understand Mosca's you must explore their origin and their then purpose. All of the above being said, I view the place as a shrine, or alter for an outstanding and truly unique fare. Success has not spoiled its atmosphere. |

Who's Been to Mosca's Recently? Certainly, two can enjoy the food at Mosca's. Too many selections, too little appetite. |

Who's Been to Mosca's Recently? We ate there last Sat. Shrimp Mosca, Oysters Mosca, Chicken a la Grande, and Chicken Cacciatore Crab salad, and Spagetti bordelaise were excellent. I am oozing garlic today. |

We ate at K-Pauls on Thurs. last. It was as good as it ever was. The Debris was excellent and the swordfish, to die for. |
