Outer Sunset: What to Eat and Where?
Beachside Coffee Bar & Ktichen is the latest from the Java Beach people. The Irish breakfast sandwich is the best I've had outside of John Campbell's Irish Bakery.
Looking for Delitia Butter of Parma / Parmigiano Reggiano Butter
I've seen that butter both at Lucca delicatessen in the Mission and at Mollie Stone's on Portola.
What's your favorite pork chop in San Francisco?
Love the house-smoked pork chop with escarole, bacon, and apricots at Chenery Park.

Where to buy french saucisson in Bay Area?
I've purchased the Fabrique Delices products at Golden Natural Foods in the Castro, but it was almost a year ago. It might be worth calling them, anyway,

Has anyone been back to LY since the Groupon offer? It seems the Yelp reviews have dropped precipitously since the Groupon-- complaints of meager portions and microwave use abound. I was hoping to take the in-laws over for dinner this week. Thanks for any assistance.
Restaurant to buy out for rehearsal dinner?
Horatius in Potrero might be a good choice.

Angkor Borei for Cambodian food in the Bernal/Mission corridor. Try their signature special, the ahmok (fish mousse). Even with an app, drinks, and entrees, we can usually get out of there for under $15/person.
small romantic restaurants in outskirts of SF?
Le P'tit Laurent in Glen Park is a lovely cozy little French bistro, if Glen Park counts as "outskirts" to you. It seems to for most San Franciscans.

Bullshead Burger or better
I love the Bullshead, but it's old-school. 1977 never stopped inside that place. I think their burgers are really good-- the buffalo burger is the juiciest I think I've ever had with that meat. The fries are fresh cut (it's the kind of place where you see the guy carrying the 5-gallon bucket of fry-cut potatoes from the prep area in the back through the dining room and up to the kitchen in the front of the restaurant). The prices are good-- fries & burger for under $12.

Large Party (24) Dining in SF
My husband had a meeting about that size at the Moss Room inside the California Academy of Science. He had nothing but good things to say about it.
Burger Bar San Francisco now open
If, for some reason, I wanted to pay $35 per person to eat at a TGIFriday's, I would go back to Burger Bar. Otherwise, I can see no reason to return.
The "ambiance" consisted of grease-smeared tables, spacey teen-aged waitresses, and dirty bathrooms. The menu is a chaotic mess using no fewer than three different ugly fonts; it looks cheap, like the design I used to do for my company newsletter in Adobe PageMaker circa 1998.
This is the kind of place that makes me pity tourists from Ohio who stumble in, thinking they will get an authentic San Francisco food experience from the renowned chef Hubert Keller. They will leave feeling ripped off (as they should) and vaguely nauseated. I live in SF and expect to pay more for everything; however, I also expect the quality to be commensurate with the price.
We had the Hubert Keller burger (spinach, blue cheese, and buffalo on a ciabatta bun). The untoasted bun was dry and the burger was half its size. The cheese was good, the spinach completely untaste-able. It came with a side of decent "skinny fries." Price: $22. Seriously.
We also had the kobe burger with a slice of foie gras. This was ok, if the meat a bit mushy in texture. Again the bun (plain this time) was dry and untoasted, and melted into a greasy mass under the burger before I even picked it up. Only the awesome power of foie gras redeemed the dish. The onion rings, while passable, were over-coated with breading and had little or no onion flavor. We were charged $1.50 for the ranch dressing. This was not mentioned on the menu nor by the waitress.
The beer selection is very impressive. I enjoyed the Imperial Oktoberfest on draft and my husband liked his Three Philosophers.
The service was amateurish but friendly.
I wanted to like this place, so much. I had hoped to take my husband to Fleur de Lys for a special dinner in the near future, but after this disastrous meal, I will not be giving Keller another penny of my money. This felt like a crudely designed wallet-emptying machine, not a restaurant. Save your money and go through the In-and-Out drive-through.
restaurant with a river running through it?
The Moss Room in the California Academy of Sciences has a river running through it, with fish.
SF Street Food Festival 8/22 - Aziza, Delfina, Heaven's Dog, La Mar, Laiola, etc are out on the street
We got there at 11:45 and the lines were already winding down the street. It took us 45 minutes to get two cremes brulee (and we got the second-to-last chocolate one). We left immediately after as we had our 8-month-old daughter with us and the crowds were getting frighteningly dense. We basically had to push our way through the crowd to get out. I don't understand why they didn't set up cordons (ie: the poles with the ropes they use at amusement parks and the airport). Had they used them and created back-and-forth lines in front of each stand they could have accommodated the same number of people in half the space, with no confusion of who was "there first."
We went to Beretta and had a carbonara pizza. Much more civilized.
Grad student happy hour, Pittsburgh, early Nov -- help!
You might try calling Harris Grill in Shadyside. They have some space they can reserve for private parties, great drinks, and interesting, above-average "bar food." It's not close to downtown but there are plenty of public transit options in that area.

Quick Question - Incanto - Dressy or no?
Definitely "dressy-casual." There were people in jeans there when we went.
Pittsburgh must-eats
Kaya in the Strip for funky Carribean-fusion
Tram's in Lawrenceville for hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese
The Sharp Edge in Friendship/East Liberty for awesome Belgian beer selection (maybe the best beer selection in the city)
Pamela's in the Strip, Squirrel HIll, & Oakland for greasy hangover breakfast and delicious thin crepe-style pancakes.
Pierogies Plus in McKees Rocks (you have to drive, and they are only open for lunch, and only on weekdays)
Max's Allegheny Tavern on the North Side for German wursts and beer.
A hot dog & fries at the Dirty "O" in Oakland (aka the Original Hot Dog Shop) for an authentic if unhealthy regional specialty).
Bloomfield Bridge Tavern in Bloomfield for the Polish platter (haluski, kluski, galumpki, kielbasa, and pierogie)
Legume Bistro in regent Square for fresh local food served simply and unpretentiously (BYOB)
There is no decent Mexican to be had in the Burgh as far as I can tell, unfortunately.
Delicious Dining Near Allegheny General Hospital?
Sassy Marie's on James St. is a solid choice.
Cafe Richard in the Strip is no more (Pgh)
Too bad but unsurprising. The service there was appalling.
Best moules frites in SF
We ended up going to Couleur Cafe last night. The mussels were fresh and abundant (neither of us finished ours) and the frites were tasty, though oddly mostly broken into hard-to-eat tiny pieces. I had the Couleur sauce and the husband had the Catalan; the Couleurs were almost too rich and the bacon bits seemed like they had been blanched but not rendered. Still, with the Moules being part of the Dine About Town prix fixe we got out of there for under $80 with beverages and dessert.
Thanks for the tip!
Best moules frites in SF
Ok hounds, please help a recently-transplanted-from-the-East-Coast pregnant lady satisfy her craving for moules frites. I prefer classic sauces (marinieres, etc.) but at this point I would probably eat any sauce as long as the mussels were fresh and the frites crispy.
My fetus and I (and my husband!!) thank you in advance.
Chaurice - where to find it?
What you are describing sounds exactly like the Portuguese sausage chourico, which despite its spelling is pronounced "shoor-reese." My husband is Portuguese and we found several good chouricos in San Jose, which has its own "Little Portugal" neighborhood. I believe there is also a Portuguese sausage shop in Hayward as well.
This is one of the places we bought from in SJ:

You might also try your local thrift store-- I saw about 20 at the Daly City Goodwill the other day for $.50/each.
Rec's for Sewickley Area?
I would recommend the Sharp Edge Bistro. It's a branch of the Sharp Edge Beer emporium, specializing in Belgian beers, but the Sewickley location's food & ambience are a step above typical Pittsburgh "bar food." The beer selection is incredible.

Top Chef Chicago-- Do you have a favourite yet?
"Why must anyone (and women in particular) use the f-bomb so casually"
I agree that the F-bomb is thrown around wayyyyyy too much this season, but I don't see why it is worse when women do it. Professional kitchens are among the most verbally vulgar places in the world, so it is unsurprising that the profanities are flowing so freely, however.
Pittsburgh Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
I was married last year and we had our rehearsal dinner at the Urban Mountain Gathering Place in Mt. Washington. They don't do the food, but you can have any caterer you like come in at no charge. The view is unbeatable. the staff is incredibly professional and willing to go above the call of duty, and best of all, the rental fee goes to benefit programs for at-risk kids in Mt. Wash and Duquesne Heights.
The website is http://www.umgp.com/
We had our dinner catered by Big Burrito, but the UMGP has a list of caterers they work with often which might also be helpful.
Pittsburgh Eats 2008
If you get up early in Saturday mornings, go down to St. Stanislaus in the Strip (the church on Smallman with with the gold dome). They sell homemade pierogies by the dozen, though they are usually sold out of the potato and cottage cheese by 10 am.
Great restos for biz din in P'Burgh??
Dish might not be ideal for a group-- the food is great but the place is TINY. I would second the recommendation for Eleven and add Casbah and Soba, also from the Big Burrito family.
Sonoma Grill has fine food but the place is a cavern, and if you want to hear your dinner companions speak I would not recommend it. The service can also be spotty, especially on the weekends.
Try Bona Terra in Sharpsburg-- if you call a few days ahead a group should be no problem, and the food will be uniformly excellent.
It's never mentioned here, but my husband and I like New Moon Fusion on General Robinson street on the North Shore by PNC Park. They have lots of choices (within the "pan-Asian" theme) and the space is also good for a biz dinner group. It's also a short walk or cab ride from downtown.
Good food in walking distance of Pittsburgh C.C.
For pierogies you could hop on any number of buses going up Liberty Ave. to the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern, Pittsburgh's only Polish Party House, though it is in Bloomfield, the Italian neighborhhod. They have a good Polish platter with kluski, halushki, golumpki, and pierogies.
Also on Liberty in Lawrenceville (halfway between the Strip and Bloomfield) is the Church Brew Works in a renovated Catholic Church. They have traditional and non-traditional pierogies and a pierogie pizza that is pretty good.
