Rehoboth Chow
I was in Rehoboth this past weekend, as well, and had two excellent dinners. It was a little more challenging for our party, however, as I have two small children in tow.
"Taste": nouvelle American cuisine, done freshly and with flavor. Our hummous appetizer was delicious, with many different vegetables and crackers to dip. They brought the children's food out first (many points for this!) and gave us menu alternates to accomodate for their quirky eating prefs. I ordered crab cakes which came with mashed red potatoes and haricot verts medley and two spicy sauces for the crab. The wine selections were very pleasant. The staff were accomodating and attentive, but occasionally glared when the kids were underfoot (who wouldn't, really?).
"Stoney Loden": billed as Irish cuisine, our food here was fabulous! We ordered baked brie for an appetizer which, like our hummous at "Taste", came with many delightful items for spreading (including fresh fruit!). Our second appetizer, Irish brown bread, could have been better; it came pre-slathered with an odd goopy spread. Good wine options. My entree choice, mahi mahi, was perfect: cooked to tenderness, it came with a fruit salsa, Irish mashed tatties, and asparagus (most/all entrees had asparagus as the veg). My two dining companions each ordered the salmon, and enjoyed their food immensely as well. The children were satisfied with items off the kids' menu. We ordered three of their desserts, the apple/blackberry crumble (delicious), brownie, and key lime pie. All of us were raving about our meals and might have been the last diners to leave... as a side note, it was our server's first day at the job and we wouldn't have known if he hadn't told us; he was great.
Diner's (places for breakfast) in Old Town or near Old Town
Jack gave you that enormous sandwich, saying that no-one had ever finished one in one sitting. You took it as a challenge. He looked very surprised when you finished, but covered it by leaning in and asking, "ready for seconds?"
