Pasta with Chickpeas ?

Anyone know where I can get a pasta w/chickpeas dish? They used to have it at Zero Otto Nove, but sadly it's been taken off the menu. Have you seen it anywhere else?

Thank you!

Scarpetta - Is the spaghetti w/tomato THAT good??

I got the spaghetti! And it really was that good.

Everything was delicious (amazing bread basket, polenta w/mushrooms, foie & duck ravioli, baby goat) but the spaghetti really was such a tasty, simple dish. So glad I ordered it.

Scarpetta - Is the spaghetti w/tomato THAT good??

I'm going to scarpetta soon, and have heard so much about the spaghetti that I really want to try it. But.... it is just spaghetti in tomato sauce. Is it that good? Better than the other pastas? I probably won't be back at scarpetta any time soon (the last time I was there was 2 years ago) so I want to order as well as possible :)

Thanks!

Kid-friendly brunch near Brooklyn Botanical Garden?

Hello!
Heading to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden this weekend with the family and wanted to get brunch beforehand, around noon. I'm not too familiar with the area - any suggestions on what would be good? Best if they take reservations, since we'll have tickets for a specific time at the garden.

Thanks!

Scarpetta - solo dining?

Would Scarpetta be ok for a solo diner? I see they have a bar, am I (female, late 20's) likely to feel comfortable eating there on my own on a Monday night, around 7pm, or will it be very crowded? I've eaten at the restaurant before, and have been itching to go back to try the spaghetti w/tomato & basil - I'm on my own tomorrow night and figure it could be a good time to try it. What do you think?

Snacks in the City - what's your favorite?

Thank you! This will definitely keep me busy.

And I know that pun was awful, but it was better than the movie.

Snacks in the City - what's your favorite?

Sorry for the lame pun, I saw Sex and the City 2 yesterday.

Anyway, I'm a student, in NY for the summer with my days mostly free. I like to plan some places to go in order to give my day structure, and that includes trekking around the city in search of delicious treats! I'd like things on the cheap side (around $10 or less), any type of food, any part of the city. What are you favorites??

I've lived in NY before so I already have some places on my list (pretzel croissants, dumpling man, cheese rock from big booty bread co), but I'd love to add some more.

Thanks!

30th Birthday Celebrate - Recs please!

Just wanted to thank everyone for the great recommendation. Perbacco couldn't have been better! The service was spectacular - I had mentioned in my reservation that it was a birthday, so they had a little card waiting for the birthday boy, everyone wished him a happy birthday, we got a really nice table, and were treated to a free dessert. The food was AMAZING - we split the peach salad to start, then did a 2-pasta tasting (the short rib ragout and the raviora with ricotta & asparagus), then the duck & scallops for our main. Each dish was better than the last! (although I think the asparagus pasta and scallops were the favorites). We were stuffed but went with the caramel gelato for dessert - delicious, especially with the salt- and they brought over the "ugly-but-good" hazelnut cookies as a treat, which were such a lovely consistency and had such a nice flavor. Ooh, and I got a 'girly' drink to start- Prosecco with strawberry - and it came with the most delicious candied strawberry, such a nice little treat. Afterward we went to the Top of the Mark for a drink, was lovely but we were too full to properly enjoy it!
All in all, a great meal and a fabulous experience. Thanks again!

30th Birthday Celebrate - Recs please!

Hi! The boyfriend just hit the big 3-0, and I want to take him someplace special. We're from NY but will be in San Francisco next week, so I'd love to surprise him with a really lovely evening - an amazing dinner followed by drinks someplace 'cool' (nice setting, etc). Any suggestions? We're staying near Union Square, some someplace that's easily reachable by foot or public transport would be great. Any type of food. Price - say up to $150 total.
Thanks!

Saturday Group, around Flatiron?

Hi! Trying to plan a dinner for 10 people this saturday. 5 are from far away (Norway & Belgium), and I'd like to take them someplace with good food and a fun atmosphere, so that they have a good experience. A lot of us are students, so not too expensive would be preferable - say around $40 per person (including sharing some wine), and a BYO would be great. We're all in our mid/late 20's. Also, we have a party to go to afterwards in the flatiron district, so not too far from there would be ideal.

Thanks for any recs!!

Any good deals/specials?

It seems that lately some restaurants are offering different specials/deals, which is a nice way to go out without killing my budget. Maybe we can try to round them up here?

I'll start with the two I know -
Irving Mill - $15 burger and beer on Mondays
(great burger!)

Mermaid Inn - $20 Lobster Roll & beer in Feb (daily, 5:30 - 7:30)
I think they'll have a new special for March, not sure what.

Any more?

Bar Blanc, Allegretti, or Scarpetta?

Going to a celebratory dinner on friday - which of those would be best? Another option is Macao Trading Co. Open to any other suggestions in that price range, prefer below 34th st, any type of food besides sushi.

Thanks!

Brunch in Barcelona?

Pretty sure Milk, in barrio gotico, has a weekend brunch. Also you can get a pretty good breakfast/brunch at the cafe Laie on Pau Claris (upstairs from the bookstore).

Back in NYC for a week, where to go?

I've been out of the country for about a year, and now I'm back in Manhattan for a little over 1 week... are there any places I should make sure to go? Of course I'm going to hit up a few of my favorites, and make sure to get a good cheeseburger and some bagels. Where would you make sure to go if you were in my position??

Can Ros or Can Majo for paella in Barcelona?

I ended up at Can Ros. The paella was really good (we got one regular and one with noodles instead of rice) but the restaurant was verrrrry quiet. Also the sangria was way too sweet.

Can Ros or Can Majo for paella in Barcelona?

I've heard both are good... how do they compare in terms of food quality, price, atmosphere, etc? Or is there a better place you'd recommend?

Also, does anyone know if these are open on Sunday night?

Thanks!

Dinner with Dad - need parking nearby!

Today!

Dinner with Dad - need parking nearby!

He also wouldn't want bar food (burgers, fries, etc). Other than that I think he's pretty open to types of food. Places we've gone to in the past have been Esperanto, Yaffa and Lucy's Latin Kitchen - he thought all were fine, although didn't seem to LOVE any.

Dinner with Dad - need parking nearby!

Hello! I need to pick a restaurant for tonight with my dad. He's pretty picky - doesn't like anything too spicy, not too expensive (up to $20/$25 for an entree), he prefers a big menu, but doesn't want anything too "boring" - ie things he can easily get on Long Island, like regular Italian food. He's also driving in, so he wants an area where he can find a parking spot easily (he doesn't like parking in a garage). As for me, I prefer anyplace below 34th st - open to anything else.

Given all of this... Any suggestions?? Thank you!

A good lunch for me and my book

I'm looking for a cute place where I can get a delicious meal and relax with my book for a little while. Any type of food - just not too spicy! - and really any location south of 30th street - I'm willing to walk around. Also good take-out, close to a park where I can sit and relax, would be great.

Thanks for the tips!

Walking from E Village to Soho - where to eat?

I know there are a million good options, just looking for some new ideas.
I'm going from 10th st down to soho, and I'm looking for a cute place with cheap, tasty food where I can sit - possibly outside - and read my book and relax. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Tigerland closing???

Sadly it's true. I was there on Sunday for a final dinner, I love that place. Hopefully the owners will open up a new place soon.

Resto or Cafe de Bruxelles?

Looking for good belgian, mussels, etc, not too expensive. Which would you recommend?

Cheap eats - $5 or less?

Any recs for good, filling meal for $5 or less? Bonus points if it's relatively healthy (ie not fried, some veggies/fruits).

Chomp closed

Yes, very close- on 14th, not sure exactly where (either between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd). A much bigger space.

Soon-to-be-student here- need cheap eats!

Hello!
After several years working, I'm getting ready to head back to school - and to having no money! Any recs for good, cheap food to keep me going all summer, preferably downtown? Bonus points if it's healthy and/or filling. Willing to travel by subway to different areas - or boroughs- if it's worth it. Thank you!

Group dining suggestions - 20 people!

Trying to plan a birthday dinner for 16-20 people, in their late 20's, for next friday. Looking for downtown (say, below 34th), any type of food, not too expensive (around $50ish/person, with drinks), fun atmosphere. Any ideas? No prix fixe, please!

East Village dinner with mom

Going to dinner with mom and dad tonight. My plan was for Tigerland - that's a good location and price point, and I love the food - but it's closed on Mondays! Looking for similar location (anywhere in the e.v.) and price, pretty open to type of food - but no italian or sushi. Also, my mom likes to try places that are a little "different" - ie food that she can't easily get in the 'burbs. Any ideas?

Leaving NY! What should I have before I go?

After 5 years in this amazing city, it's time for me to leave. What are some places/meals/foods I should make sure I try before I go?

Thanks!
