Cheese Shop in Phoenixville

I live west of Phoenixville, in Kimberton and the Kimberton Whole Foods store (NOT to be confused with the chain...KWF has been around a whole lot longer than the chain) has a wonderful selection of artisanal cheeses, international cheeses that are very good. In addition, they have a wonderful cafe that is inside the store. Check it out!

Need a "Plan B" for Chestnut Hill area

Campbells Tavern, right across the street!! Would have been a great option and frankly, a lot shorter drive than back down to Mount Airy! Good draft beers and good food. Has been totally renovated within the last 3 years and it's a nice cozy place for a beer and some food.

Who sells cream puffs that use real whipped cream?

Agree, the ones from Costco aren't bad at all, esp with some choc syrup drizzled on them!

Your Go-To Pancake Spot

"Take along your own bottle of "Grade B" maple syrup" I highly second this! Everywhere you go, restaurants serving that crappy fake stuff. It's usually not about the pancakes, though I still prefer my own, which are made from scratch, but the 'syrup' that the restaurants generally serve, is horrendous!

Breakfast, brunch, coffee in Exton to King of Prussia area?

Sorry to hear this; the stuffed brioche French toast is very good...and of course, the crab cakes are good as well. Give it another try one of these days.

Breakfast, brunch, coffee in Exton to King of Prussia area?

Classic Diner is hands-down the winner over Nudy's. Nudy's is okay, but I'm underwhelmed by it, esp when I compare it to Classic Diner's stuffed brioche French toast....now that is a breakfast worth waiting in line for! And I frequently eat at the counter to avoid the line,

King of Prussia-Malvern area Recommendations?

I love Restaurant Alba! Food is always inventive, well-prepared!

Where are all the Jewish Deli's in Philly?

It's just plain depressing here. There are Jewish enclaves all over the Philly area, but we suffer from a lack of delis, that is for sure!

Where are the best bagels in the Bucks/Montgomery counties area?

You have a point there about the water supply.

Get there before it is impossible to get a table!

You liked it so much that you forgot to say its name!! lol!

Where are the best bagels in the Bucks/Montgomery counties area?

Sad to say, there aren't any. Certainly nothing that compares to H&H, now closing in NYC...a true tragedy, I feel. People don't know the difference anymore between a true water bagel and those rolls shaped like bagels and since the younger generations have never had the real thing, they can't demand it. Showing my age. I just had someone bring me 2 dozen from Murry's in NYC and they are in the freezer.

Phoenixville

Anyone tried the new The Wooden Spoon on Main Street? Take out and sit down lunch. Incredibly good quiche (crust from scratch), gougere, wraps, salads, desserts. Quiche is so good I've been back 5 times to pick up some for take out. Right down the street from the very over-priced Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor.

Where to buy ... FRESH lemon verbena

Don't know it by any other name. You could probably grow it on a windowsill or any small CC backyard. Out in the burbs where I am, it is hardy and frankly, can be invasive.

Produce Junction: First and Last Time

I don't even think the produce is that good. I've tried the one in Glenside and the one in Mont Clare (Phoenixville) and the only thing I will buy there are the flowers or the plants outside. Fruit is never ripe; hard as a rock most times. I'd rather find a farm stand. In Glenside, I used to go to the Oriental Food Market on Mount Carmel, near the intersection of Limekiln and Mount Carmel in a little strip mall. Their produce was much, much better and the service always comes with a smile even if the English is sometimes hard to understand. At least they try...can't say that for PJ. Everyone is surly at those stores...must be a job requirement.

Ambler Donut Company???!!

Wow...sorry to hear this...only back in the area about every two weeks and was looking forward to trying this place. My fav before was Flourtown Bakery's cinnamon cake donuts which are wonderful and REAL...unlike the DD right down the road. Guess I will stick with the Kimberton Fire Company donuts (plain, powdered and cinnamon, all cake variety) which the volunteers make once a month. You put in your order and pick them up the next day...incredible. They are also sold at the Kimberton Fair, if anyone is out this way in Chester County, starting on July 25th...fresh out of the deep fat fryer! Incredible!

Blue Sage Grille Southampton PA

I've moved too far away to get to BS anymore, but agree, it is a wonderful restaurant!

King of Prussia [Seasons 52]

Never heard of this place...is it in the Mall? There are so few good dining options in KOP. There are chains...that is it!

Phoenixville

I got takeout from the Wooden Spoon yesterday. The quiche was incredible...crust was from scratch, not pre-made! Also got a cheese gougere, also wonderful...and of course, two Wootie Hoos, that I have missed from KWF! Shop is very nice, nice atmosphere...I pray they make it and aren't being gouged for rent! P'ville really needed a good bakery.

Fun in Phoenixville - dinner then coffee and musci

Didn't realize they had an upstairs patio...will def give it a try on a Thursday night....won't venture into P'ville on a weekend! Parking, ugh!

Phoenixville

Anything had to be better than La Taverna...that place was awful. It was like they were trying to make bad food.

Phoenixville

I saw at Kimberton Whole Food Cafe that Barbey Bonnet's baked goods will be there....which is a very good thing. We need more bakery options in P'ville.

BYO with a great steak, Ambler, Chestnut Hill area???

Let us know about the noise level; I've heard negatives in that regard.

Solo dining in Philadelphia

Thanks people... I know it's not just me...and frankly, I do enjoy my own company. Problem for me is that most of my friends will not spend the type of $$$ that I will on a good meal, which is a shame, but I'm not gonna fight that battle. Open table sounds like a good idea for the future. Wonder if there's a space on that reservation site for 'just me and my Kindle'.!!

Solo dining in Philadelphia

Drives me nuts when I walk into a restaurant to dine alone and the hostess says: 'Just one?' It's truly offensive. And I'm not talking about Friday or Saturday night either...I talking Thursday at 5:30 PM or 8:30 PM at a very good place!

George's Greek American Grill in Great Valley/Malvern closed - where have I been?

oh so sad...I used to eat there quite a bit when I worked at the corporate center across the street. I am hoping that they just decided that they had had enough and they retired. Will miss their food!

Madray's, then Barson's, then Hymie's Too, now Moe's...Lafayette Hill

Murray's on the MainLine is good; it's just a drive for me. I can't STAND fake bagels.

Organic Crushed San Marzano Tomatoes

Kimberton Whole Foods (this is not Whole Foods) and has been around alot longer than Whole Paycheck has!

Phoenixville

That's interesting...but I will still stick with the brisket from Tex's...now, I never get a sandwich. I always just get the brisket (and I loved the burnt ends) and the sauce to go, bring it home and have it with mashed potatoes and greens on the side, or coleslaw.

Madray's, then Barson's, then Hymie's Too, now Moe's...Lafayette Hill

So sad.

Looking for Traditional Philly Italian

I still remember Triangle Tavern's Ziti and Asparagus from years ago with fondness. 10th and Reed
