I am reading that it takes 50m per lb so around 10hrs for the whole 12lbs

If I cut it in half and use 2 pots it will be done sooner

I need to cook a 12lb corned beef Sunday! I am trying to find out how long to cook it (not in the oven)

I am wondering if it would be better to cut it in half and cook in 2 pots?

Los Andes Bakery - Peekskill

Drove by Los Andes Bakery this morning in Peekskill and had my husband stop and run in.

He bought 4 empanadas ($3.50 each). They had beef or chicken and he got all 4 beef. They were boxed nicely with little cups of sauce/salsa.

They were HUGE and stuffed with meat, each had an olive and hard boiled egg inside too. The sauce/salsa was amazing.

A great deal at 3.50 each. The dough was excellent!

They had a TreLeches (sp) cake that I wanted to try but it was $33 so I passed. If I find out that it is great I will buy it next time.

Food Trucks in Westchester?

I had been wanting to try that pizza truck. Seems the lot was being used as a storage spot for the construction on the Taconic. Hope they come back!

And, I am GOING to the Poutine Truck this weekend-Can't wait!! My father said he read an article about it.

So the fair was intense! My daughter who has been working on a 2 year science research project on rabies in Westchester County did not win :( She won 1st place last year so she was so disappointed.

Can't be a winner all the time so at 16 she will have to adjust.

Had dinner at Horsefeathers. Won't be going back. Was so dark we all needed flashlight apps from our iPhones, no draft beer???????

Had wings that were good but they were like fried chicken wings rather then "hot wings". Coated in breading?

I also had a bacon cheese burger that was just ok. I do not like potato wedges so I can't say they were bad as I do not like them so no fault of theirs.

Beer was slightly colder then room temp and I hate to be served on pewter platters with handles unless I am in Williamsburg VA.

Wish we would have gone greek but Leftaris was MOBBED. Actually the whole town was mobbed due to the beautiful weather.

I have lived in Westchester my whole life and I have never driven through Sleepy Hollow. Cute town. Would like to go back in the sping/summer and walk around.

X2O Brunch for Bridal Shower

From August 2011

Kuddos to X2O...................

My daughter's Bridal Shower was scheduled for yesterday (Sunday). I was ignoring the weather hoping it would go away. By Thursday morning I was frantic. I called James the GM of X2O and he told me that I had 2 options. I could keep it for sunday and they would charge me for who showed up or I would have to cancel as they were now booked until December for the private room for Sunday brunch. I was crushed as there was no way I was having it on Sunday.

He then mentioned that there was a possibilty they would hold it on Saturday (the day before) and he needed to ok that with the Chef and the powers that be.

He called me an hour later and said YES they would do the same Sunday brunch on Saturday. I was so happy. We quickly called everyone invited. We had 50 invited and 36 were able to come.

I can't praise the staff enough. The shower was incredible. The level of service was amazing and I mean amazing. The room looked so beautiful. The food was just delicious. They catered to our every need. Not one glass of whatever people were drinking ever went empty. We were not rushed out and we were there from 11:30-4pm and the champagne flowed the whole time. They also packed up all the gifts and brought them all to my daughter's car.

Seriously, it's the best deal in town for a private party. It was just wonderful.

X2O Brunch for Bridal Shower

The Shower was amazing. I am sure I posted a review and I will try and find it. Shower was the Hurricane day (Irene?) so X2O was wonderful and opened for our shower brunch on the day before which was a Saturday. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves.

We did not order anything extra except for a Crudite platter that was beautiful!

We did not have the extra passed that you get downstairs but you could get anything you wanted if you wanted to pay. If you take even 1 sip of your mimosa it was filled the second you put your glass down.

Chophouse grille- Mahopac

we have been 4 times now and consistant every time. Lats time had the mussel app and it was so delicious.

This past friday they had B1G1F gift certicifates from 11-3. The line was HUGE

Boston Newbie/College Visit

Back from Boston. Had a wondeful time. It's really a shame it took us so long to visit.

We ate dinner at Eastern Standard and one night at Island Creek and had drinks at The Hawthorne.

I liked dinner at Eastern Standard best. We shared 4 dozen oysters which were amazing (Wellfleet and Moon Shoal). 2 orders of bone marrow and hubby had a steak LOL

The cocktails were all so different and amazing. I tried so many new combinations and flavors.

We went to The Hawthorne before dinner Saturday and I looked like a soccer mom. Everyone there was so hip looking. Note to self to bring more trendy clothing.

Drinks and dinner Sunday night at Island Creek. The bartender was soooooo friendly and helpful in picking cocktails. Truly cocktail masters in all 3 places.

We were lucky and happened upon Octoberfest in Harvard Square and that was soooooo much fun!! Ate a lot of street food and had a few beers in the corralled beer areas. My daughter had a flafel wrap (wrapped like a burrito) from some tiny little place and she loved it.

We LOVED Hotel Commonwealth. The room and hotel was just beautiful and everyone so very nice.

I can't wait to go back!

Let's talk Oysters!

Back from our oyster fest. In love with oysters. We had Wellfleet and Moon Shoal

I liked the Moon Shoal the best and we had 4 dozen of them. I loved that vinegar sauce (what is it called) that came with it.

Thanks for all of your help!
