Quick bite between Irvine/San Juan Cap (Coach House)

JAB: Now if only I had my gift certs for that place with me...I would be so there. Wish I thought of it sooner. Maybe we'll go anyway?

I got nothin: I've been meaning to go to Fukada for WEEKS. It's also not busy for dinner (as opposed to crazy lunch). Thanks. I will share the to-go menu I have in my "lunch file".

Quick bite between Irvine/San Juan Cap (Coach House)

I apologize for how last minute this is. No time to plan ahead. We are attending a concert at Coach House tonight, and don't normally venture this far South.

The prereqs:

Her feedback -
My friend does not want super healthy or organic (like Veggie Grill)
She also does not like sushi.

My feedback-
I am not eating meat today. Ideally, I'm going to stick by that.
I do not feel like having Mexican. Had it yesterday.
I am TERRIBLE with spicy food.
Don't want to pay over $20/person.
We are very much open to hole-in-the-walls.

Any feedback is very much appreciated.

Great Crepes in Long Beach-La Creperie

My husband adores the crepes here. We've been coming here since they were still in the former space that was thisnarrow.

If you're looking for crepes (and not necessarily a French atmosphere), my fellow foodie discovered Rockin' Crepes in Huntington Beach....if you don't mind the heavy metal theme....

Anaheim Convention Center--Entertainment

As lovely as Napa Rose is, I think it will be extraordinarily expensive. Maybe you could start there for drinks in the lounge and then cruise over to K'ya. I've had my birthday there, and it was a very nice space. Reasonably priced, very few children, and only a few minutes from where you are.

Vietnamese Food in So Orange County

I've actually enjoyed their counterpart, Pho Bac Ky over at University/405, over Pho Bac.

Help! Disneyland For a Day ...

Just for the record - - Sonic rocks. I'm with you on that one. And yes, I go for the tots and cherry limeaid.

My Valentine's dinner last year was SO terrible (Cellar in Fullerton) that we had an infinitely better meal at Sonic 15 mintes later.

Chinese/Taiwanese recommendation for Irvine

I'll 3rd A&J.

I love Brussels Bistro, Laguna Beach

I loved coming here before attending Pageant of the Masters a few years ago. Very hidden from the other LB places, and service is with a smile. Perfect comfort food, and pint glasses that match the brew being served.

What else is your go to breakfast besides eggs?

If it hasn't already been said, I'll fess up and say fried rice and Spam. Fried rice was the first thing I could cook growing up in a Filipino household, and longaniza, vienna sausage, corned beef hash, and Spam were my first breakfast meats before anything else.

upscale japanese in orange county?

While I haven't been, everyone always agrees with Bluefin.

Son a freshman at Pomona College

I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, and our Asian crowd typically ended up at the same places as everyone else suggests....Rowland Heights or Monterey Park for dim sum.

Buying ube ice cream, anywhere besides Mitchell's?

Thanks for the recs! My relatives thank you.

Buying ube ice cream, anywhere besides Mitchell's?

Getting married at the end of the month up in Napa, and bringing up our caterer from SoCal. We're planning an ice cream sundae bar as part of the dessert course, and I wanted one of the flavors to be ube.

Thought I'd help her out and locate a place to purchase it in bulk. I know I can safely assume Mitchell's, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't anywhere else folks can recommend.

Thanks.

Labor day weekend in Laguna, Mozambique and Nirvana Grill (pics)

Glad it all worked out for you.

Best Breakfast Buffet in OC

Totally forgot about that! They made both Newport and Irvine the same Champagne style now (used to be Sangria/Mariachi band in Irvine). Excellent deal about about $20/person.

Am I high or does Coca-Cola taste better at Father's Office?

If you are craving more, you can always drop by a BevMo or one of the smaller soda stores in your greater LA area. Worth keeping in the fridge when you love it.

Best Breakfast Buffet in OC

I guess when I think buffet, I think hotels. I haven't had a great hotel buffet experience since holidays at Sutton Place (before they were bought out). Only two places I know are Dukes in Huntington Beach. Wouldn't call it best, but filling. Other is Taps in Brea, which I've been meaning to try.

Vacationing in Laguna - need help with eating recos

Second Mozambique and Brussels.

Laguna options for dinner.

I've only dined at Mozambique and really enjoyed their mixed plates options.

Newport Beach business dinner.

I liked Oysters at PCH/MacArthur.

Hey Kevin. As usual, thanks for the rockin' review. We've debating between here, Palatte, and Cut. Gives me something to chew on . . .

Quirky, unique, or fun in O.C.?

I'll also add the retro allure of Park Ave in Stanton (where?!). Had a birthday party in the back room, and my guests loved the ambiance. Makes me crave a martini and cigarette . . . not that I smoke.

Jazz 'bars' with food in OC?

I've been told the Sunday brunch is pretty good, but $$$.

Low key rehearsal dinner in Napa

The bulk of our budget is going into the reception.....so splurging the night before is not really an option. Truthfully, shut down Taylor's Automatic Refresher for a night, and I'd be down with that.

American or Asian food preferred, but not required. The more relaxed (but not a bar scene) the better. I'm not going to be picky, since Napa is dominated by high end New American or French. The crowd is primarily thirty-somethings who are modest in their taste, but know what good food should taste like.

20 -25 guests total.

I've got a couple of months left to go. Thanks for any suggestions.

Concert in Irvine . . . Where to eat

Don't know your timeframe (guessing very leisurely), but just a heads up - they close between brunch and dinner on Saturdays. Reopen at 5pm.

On the bright side, their cheese and wine shop (don't think you can stay and eat) is open from 9-9 daily.

Happy hour help in C.M./Newport Beach

fyi - At M&S, what used to be *the* $1.95 menu has bumped up in price.

Jazz 'bars' with food in OC?

Blue Beet? Food was ok, but they've got the music.

Quirky, unique, or fun in O.C.?

I would have to say PJs Abbey in Orange. Dinner in a Baptist church?! The tables around us were having a rowdy birthday celebration. Or was that a bachelorette party? Either way, it certainly falls under quirky.

Sagami - Lunchtime Izakaya in Irvine?! [Review] w/ Pics

I drove here on my lunch yesterday right after reading it. I remember back when it was a poor excuse for Japanese food. This visit, I went for the tofu (wonderful!), cod (delicious), shrimp ball (yuzu salt a nice touch), and chicken cucumber salad (refreshing). Thank you so much for reintroducing it to me.

Manhattan Supper Club - Orange

So sad.
