Dress codes in Santa Fe and Albuquerque

We had dinner at The Compound [it was excellent] and no one had sport coat on, this was last May so it's been that way now for a bit.

Albuquerque suggestions needed

Don't care for Standard Diner - it is just standard.
Taxi's are hard to come by here [can't just stand outside and wave one down] and expensive. There are many good restaurants in Nob Hill and on Central close to your hotel. It would be a straight shot down Central.

Dress codes in Santa Fe and Albuquerque

Sport coat not needed.

Santa Fe Eatinerary

Vinaigrette is ok for solo dinner. The food is good. No atmosphere. Salads are the main attraction.

Dinner - The Compound, Restaurant Martin, 315 Bistro.
Drinks - if you are there on Friday or Saturday night, Hotel Santa Fe has a nice lounge with an amazing native American flute player, Ronald Roybal. at 7 pm.

3rd wave coffee finally hitting New Mexico

Torino's @ Home is taking over Cafe Guiseppi's space in a new venture.

Reservations needed in Santa Fe and Albuquerque?

IF you have a tight schedule and can't take a chance on getting the time you want, I would book ahead on the upscale places that you absolutely want to visit.

Chinese Buffet [Albuquerque]

Ta Lin Market on Central and Louisiana, has very good roast duck and pork. Also, Banana Leaf in Rio Rancho has a very good duck as well.

This is useful:

And this is really specific:

Local folks....where would you dine in Sante Fe if you had 4 nights?

If the weather isn't good, head over to Hotel Santa Fe for a Prickly Pear Margarita and listen to the wonderful flutist, Ronald Roybal who plays in the lounge. If the weather is good, have the drink out by the pool and then listen to Ronald, his music is magical. http://www.hotelsantafe.com/entertainment/native-flute/

He is there most Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 pm.

Santa Fe - brunch recommendations on Mother's Day

I liked our lunch at Cafe Vingt Cinq but it really isn't what I would think of for Mother's Day. It is a cafe in the outlet center. Short on atmosphere, but long on food, so maybe if you mom was more about food, it would work.

Unless something has changed, O'Keeffe Cafe is closed??

La Posada had a menued brunch, not a buffet when I was there, but for Mother's Day, perhaps that is not the case. Still not sure what is going on there, website still isn't working and opentable shows no availability

. Can any SF chowhounds confirm status of hotel/restaurant??

Santa Fe - brunch recommendations on Mother's Day

I was going to suggest Fuego at La Posada but it seems that Rock Resorts no longer owns hotel and there is no website available?? I had a wonderful breakfast there last year and would recommend it.

Jewish style deli food in Denver?

Looking for updated info on delis. I am specifically looking for a place that serves smoked fish [sable, whitefish] etc]. In my searching, I found that Zaidy's was sold not too long ago - an impact from that transaction? Thanks.

Santa Fe Margaritas made w/ FRESH lime juice

Tacatecas in ABQ - Mark Miller's newest venture, has great 'Rita's!
Keep in mind, the posts on this thread are at least 4 years older or more.

Albuquerque - Southwest Chocolate & Coffee Fest

I didn't volunteer. With a couple of hours of training on Thursday, and working 5 or 6 hours, plus driving back and forth 4 times, it didn't seem worth the 2 free tickets. We did go on Saturday and we had a good time. I never thought I would say, "too much chocolate," but it was really an overload. The coffee was good and our favorite roaster was there from Durango.

Thanks for mentioning it here.

Local folks....where would you dine in Sante Fe if you had 4 nights?

Mine would be:
La Choza
Reaturant Martin
315 Wine Bar
The Compound.

Time a trip for max chili experiences (New Mexico)

The harvest is in August; the roasters around town start roasting shortly thereafter. Chile is on the menu all year long here, while fresh roasted is great, the shelf life is short therefore most is frozen immediately after roasting to provide ample supply year round.

Zacatecas Tacos and Tequila

No, but I was the one to suggest they offer it on their menu and asked that the drink be named the Debit! We'll see.

CoolWater Fusion in ABQ

There's a deal being offered on Living Social.

They now have beer and wine.

I don't know anything about the restaurant.

Any insights??

Zacatecas Tacos and Tequila

I will have to go down for the inaugural offering of my name sake!

Le Pod, Santa Fe: really delicious French food truck

Sounds GREAT! Thanks for the heads up. Now that the weather is getting nicer, a trip to the capital may be in order.

Zacatecas Tacos and Tequila

Next time you go, ask for a Prickly Pear Margarita, tell them your are a friend of mine, Deb, I suggested the drink to them and they are adding it to menu for spring!!!

Standard Diner - ABQ

That goes along with my take from above. Do you mean the person who owns Standard Diner is same owner at Range Cafe? I liked Range's food years ago; nowadays it is just ok. The one in Bernalillo, at least.

Zacatecas Tacos and Tequila

"Created by James Beard Award winner, Mark Kiffin, Zacatecas Tacos and Tequila offers authentic Mexican cuisine and an extensive Tequila menu".

Had dinner there last night and the place was packed! We walked in around 7 and were lucky to score some seats at the bar after a 10 minute wait. Table wait without reservations would have run 45 minutes or so for 3.

Really enjoyed the food at what was Bumblebee's.

We started with sangria [nice red and they add the fruit just before serving so it isn't a ghastly purple], a beer and a margarita. All nicely done.

We shared an order of:
Zacatecas Totopos
Fire Roasted Guajillo and Tomatillo-Avocado Salsas
with Hand Made Guacamole {EXCELLENT!]

I had:
Carne Asada Tacos
Grilled Marinated Rib Eye Steak
Fire Roasted Guajillo Salsa, Queso Fresco, Cilantro

And the others had:
Slow Cooked Pork Ribs
Tamarind Recado-Chipotle Sauce
Sweet Potato Fries, Serrano Slaw [slaw was a bit dry and bland]

Dessert was a dense and bit heavy, but very enjoyable Tres Leche cake; enough to share with 2 and even 3.

They are participating in NM Restaurant week, but no reservations. A nice prix fixe menu for $29, but I am guessing it is going to be REALLY packed.

Overall, a great meal and a great addition to the ABQ - Nob Hill Food scene.

Moonstruck Patisserie

We happened upon this wonderful little spot, just a block or so from the main drag in downtown Hilo. We had sweet pastries for a mid morning snack and took home some savory ones for lunch. They were all delish! I had a frangipani croissant that was filled with a lovely almond flavored pastry cream and the croissant was perfectly light, airy and flaky. Hubby had a triple berry tart that was also perfectly prepared. Fresh, french press coffee completed our snack. Our take home was a curried beef turnover and a quiche florentine. Again, these were top notch with buttery crusts and wonderfully tasty fillings. Take a moment to find you way here, you won't be sorry!
