Good sports bar in St. Louis Metro area

I'm interested in knowing of some good sports bars in the St. Louis metro area to use as a gathering place for three couples coming from different parts of town. Something not too far west (Chesterfield is definitely out) that has good food and TVs to catch all of the action. Thanks!

Cupcakes in St. Louis?

Yes, my interest is more in taste than appearance, although appearance does make for a pleasant experience!

Cupcakes in St. Louis?

Has anyone been to either Jilly's Cupcake Bar on Delmar or The Cupcakery in the CWE? What's the skinny?

Grafton, IL - Mississippi Half Step Restaurant

Now that the weather has taken a bit of a pleasant turn, a number of us would like to try some new places. I saw the Mississippi Half Step Restaurant listed in the Lifestyle section of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch a couple of weeks ago and was wondering if anyone had been there and had any comments to make.

St. Louis Sports Bar Help Needed

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I've been to Lester's and enjoyed it, but there is nothing and I mean NOTHING there for a vegetarian, so that's out. I've also been to Sportsman Park and can't remember if they have vegetarian fare, so this bears investigating, unless anyone knows offhand. The other couple has never been to a sports bar, so maybe Ozzie's would be the place for the full (TVs even in the bathroom) experience.

St. Louis Sports Bar Help Needed

My husband and I are having lunch with another couple on Thursday to watch the game and have some decent food. Now I don't expect superb food at a sports bar, but something at least palatable, particularly if the game is not!. Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions for good sports bars but also those that would serve the needs of a diner who is a vegetarian. Is there such a place? Are there any on The Hill?

Thanks to all responders.

Puck's @ St. Louis Art Museum

Years ago Puck's was just dreadful so I stopped going to the Art Museum location, but with the new Napoleon Exhibit I'll once again find myself in its midst. So, those who know, has it gotten any better? Any better AT ALL??? If not, I'd appreciate suggestions for where to dine after viewing the exhibit.

Thanks to all!

Dining near City Museum in St. Louis, MO

We've all been to Crown Candy, but not the Dubliner, so I think this will be the place. Thanks!

St. Louis-Laumeier Sculpture Park Area Eats?

Wow! Thanks to all for the recommendations. I've not been to Cafe Provencal and since I believe this will be agreeable to everyone in our party, it looks like this will be the place. Thanks again!

St. Louis-Laumeier Sculpture Park Area Eats?

I've never been to Laumeier Sculpture Park and am not familiar with the area. I'd like to go this spring, however, and was wondering if anyone could offer a suggestion as to places to eat in the area.

Thanks!

Broadway Oyster Bar-St. Louis

The food is delicious, but don't sit next to the fireplace unless you have some sort of arterial flow problem. I thought my clothes were going to melt. Also, they welcome smokers, so if smoke is a problem for you, don't go. I had to air out my clothes afterwards.

Restaurant in Flagler Beach Area

Thanks for the help. It's great to know gift cards can be purchased online. One of the two places you mentioned will probably be our choice.

Restaurant in Flagler Beach Area

Thanks for the great information. Yes, they do have a car, so perhaps I'll investigate places in St. Augustine as well.

Canoe Restaurant in St.Charles, MO

I'm going to respond to my own query since I just returned from this restaurant.

If you like a pleasant atmosphere with adequate food, then this place is for you. Despite the reviewers' rating of 9.3 in Sauce magazine, the four of us who dined at Canoe on Main Street in St. Charles would have given it a 5 at best. The soup starters (shrimp, beer cheese, and butternut squash were sampled) were nothing special. The salmon BLT (sampled by two diners) was insipid and served atop of a soggy bun. The bratwurst was ample (about a foot long) but lacking in flavor. The sauerkraut that topped it made the bun beneath so wet as to be inedible. The cheeseburger was fine, but not worth a return visit. The German potato salad, supposed to be a house speciality, was similarly insipid. All of us were under the impression that German potato salad contained vinegar to give it some zing. This variety seemed to be nothing more than steamed red potatoes, quartered, and tossed with a decidedly bland stone ground mustard. One would think the mustard would have given it some taste...one would have been wrong. We ended up tossing it with the remoulade sauce that accompanied the salmon BLTs and found this to be very tasty. The cole slaw was wet and flavorless.

We decided to try the dessert and chose a cappuccino chocolate cake. It was elegantly presented by a very affable waiter but again, had no taste.

When the weather and the waiter are the best parts of a dining experience it's probably best not to return. We won't.

Restaurant in Flagler Beach Area

My husband and I have friends who go to Florida each year for the winter months. They live in a condo in the Flagler Beach area. We'd like to give them a gift certificate to a restaurant in that area. Can anyone advise as to suitable choices? He is a vegetarian; she'll eat anything. They both like seafood and ethnic cuisines. Any help as to a good choice would be greatly appreciated, contact info would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

Canoe Restaurant in St.Charles, MO

I've been invited to lunch at Canoe Restaurant in St. Charles, MO. Has anyone been here and can offer an opinion? From the website it looks as though it's the former Winery Restaurant. What's the skinny? Does anyone know?

St. Louis, MO to Muncie, IN Roadtrip

Thanks, that's a fine start. Anything along the road between there and St. Louis?

At the end of this month I'll be driving from St. Louis, MO to Muncie, IN. Is there anything at all interesting along the way, be it foodwise or of roadside interest?

Nice lunch place in Kirkwood, MO

Spencers is a great idea! I'd forgotten about them. My "comfortable" mention was more in thinking that my guests wouldn't find it comfortable to sit on barstools, at a bar, that sort of thing. But for a long ago resident this just might be the place. Thanks!

Nice lunch place in Kirkwood, MO

I'm going to be taking two ladies in their seventies for a drive to Kirkwood where one of them lived about 50 years ago. We'd like to have lunch while we're there and I'd appreciate any suggestions for a nice, COMFORTABLE, lunch place. Thanks!
