I saw on Wheelworks' website that they are doing a joint project with Brasserie Jo on Huntington Ave in the So. End. Check the Brasserie Jo website for details...
Friends in town for 30th birthday this weekend. Dinner at 9 on Friday?
We have some friends coming into town from Texas, NYC, Portland and Nantucket this weekend to celebrate a 30th birthday. We need a place to go on Friday night at around 9 pm for a festive, delicious and lively dinner. Want to avoid the traps (Dali, North End). Were thinking of Teatro, Toro, good food/wine/atmosphere. Any ideas?
Dining within walking distance to Fenway
Beacon St. is opening a patio this year as well. After a kind of softish mid-season opening last year, word is they are anxious to have at it for this year. Good beer, not-bad food and a on the outbound side. Might be worth a look.
The Pajama Brunch at the 647 Tremont St. Restaurant
I have to say, and I say this with a degree of fairness having been in the biz for 20 years, but I had the worst meal of my life~seriously~at a brunch at 647 about two months ago. Horrifying. Skip it. Every single interaction we had with staff, management was inherently flawed. Both versions of the dishes we ordered~~the round we sent back and the round they "comped' that arrived 45 miniutes later~~were cold inedible and dangerous (rice that could chip teeth). Forget it. I will never go there again.
Harvard Square rec's
If you are willing to venture out of Harvard Sq and down to Central, check out Central Kitchen. Far better atmosphere, prices, service and for the buck, food. Decent bar scene in CK, really warm friendly vibe. Excellent Moule Frites and one of the best steaks in town for $26. Amazing, eclectic wines at a ridiculously low mark up, too
