El Ideas NOLA

I snagged a reservation for El Ideas March 4 Mardi Gras event. They haven't provided any additional details on the menu.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what to bring to drink?

Coming to Chicago this summer - one question...

I think a mid-week experience even better than a weekend fest is the free concerts and events in Milleniumn Park. Downtown Sound on Mondays, Loops and Variations on Thursdays, SummerDance. Grab a bottle of wine and a blanket and head to Prtizker Pavillion.

Chicken backs?

I've been looking for chicken backs to make stock. I tried the a few places around Fulton Market (Peoria Packing) and a couple of Carneceria's with no luck.

Does anyone know where I can find these - preferably in the West Town area?

A good place to buy a special fine wine?

Sam's is wonderful, but can be a bit overwhelming and crowded.

I also enjoy Randolph Wine Cellars (1415 W Randolph St). The staff is extremely helpful and will give you some tastings to help clarify what you like and narrow your selection.

You can also head to their tasting room for some great small bites and a few flights.

Is there such a thing as a good combination espresso / coffee maker? If so, whose?

We did a lot of investigating and couldn't find a combination machine that worked well. We ended up with the Saeco Italia Digital. It has three buttons for a short, long and Americano. You can push the button multiple times for doubles/triples and can program the strength to your preferences. You should be able to set the Americano to the equivalent of a cup of coffee. It should also be great for new parents because you don't have to load beans, water or empty grounds each time. It is a bit pricey, but you can find refurbished machines from the manufacturer on ebay.

Please please please help a desperate chowhound bride make a decision soon!

I would recommend Think Cafe at 2235 N Western Ave
(if it's not too late). Their food is very upscale and the service friendly. On a recent visit with 10 people, the highlights were the duck risotto and the rack of elk. Their BYOB service is excellent - they provided a martini shaker and glass as well as champagne, white, red and port glasses for our different bottles.

Hamburgers and Stella Artois at Moonshine

I am not a fan of Moonshine. The music is too loud to have a conversation and the service is not very good. Not sure why it's so popular.

Cuban Sandwich in Chicago?

I second the vote for Cafeteria Marianao, but beware that there really isn't anywhere there to eat. They also make a great cafe con leche.

Best Late Night Eats?

If you don't want the typical fast food try Iggy's at
1840 W North Ave. They also have a great patio.
