Gold Coast/Near North Restaurants to take out an older client?

One of my favorites is Brasserie Jo (definitely better than Kiki's). The only downside is that it can be a bit loud during peak dinner hours. If you're going on a weeknight, there shouldn't be a problem.

Campagnola - good vegetarian options?

I'm a Chicago hound going to NYC next week and I have reservations at Campagnola. I've heard great things about the veal, but can anyone suggest a good vegetarian option?

Thanks!

Kuma's Corner in Avondale

And beware the Check Please curse - because they're so crowded now, even if you can get a seat the service and food may have slipped a bit. The problem usually corrects itself within 6 months.

May 1st, 2008 - Labour Day AND Ascension Day in Paris - what will be open?

I will be there at the same time as well - I'm so glad I found this post! I have been to Paris before, but this is the first time I will be able to afford more than store-bought cheese and bread. If anyone has any must-taste restaurant recommendations, I would be grateful.

Resi's Bierstube?

Perfect, thank you very much!

Resi's Bierstube?

How casual is Resi's Bierstube? I'm heading there for the first time this evening. Also, I'd like to go to a nearby German bar afterwards (we're re-living Oktoberfest) but would prefer to avoid anything near the Cubs game (i.e., Uberstein). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Good near O'Hare/Rosemont?

I tried Don Juan's for the first time last night and it was fantastic! Getting there was a major challenge since I don't usually go out that way (Northwest Highway is just evil), but it was well worth the drive. I had the fish tacos, which were the best I think I've ever had, and the rest of my party ordered the combination fajitas and the Amish chicken. Beautiful presentation, fresh ingredients, flavorful. The margaritas were just so-so, but the food more than made up for it.

Best cupcake in Chicago?

I second Sweet Mandy Bs! Absolutely perfect cupcakes.

Has anyone been to Yolk lately?

I'd like to take some guests for breakfast near the park and museums, and the reviews on Metromix are inconsistent. I haven't been there myself, so any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Thanks!

good eats in Kauai

I know the original posting on this topic is old, but I just returned from Kauai and had dinner at The King and I as well. It was FANTASTIC, I highly recommend it. There were 8 of us (two strict vegetarians), and we asked them to just bring us food. Several in the group are not adventurous eaters, and even they liked it. The waiter was patient and explained everything very well. Being from Chicago, I'm sad that this place is so far away!

Lunch near Scoozi?

Can anyone suggest a nice lunch spot near Scoozi? I'm hoping to find something within 1-2 blocks (Scoozi doesn't serve lunch).

Thank you!

mid-priced ethnic, downtown?

India House is consistently good, on Grand.

Knife Sharpening

The Naperville farmer's market used to have a man there who also did a great job; however it's been a few years, I'm not sure if he is still there.

Loop Business Dinner for 25

I am organizing a work dinner in October and would like to try somewhere new. In the past we have only gone to Wildfire and Maggiano's and need to get away from that, but want something at the same price point. We also need a crowd-pleasing, not very adventurous menu, but still good food. Does anyone know of a loop restaurant that fits the criteria, and also has a private room?

Thanks!
