Regular Menu on Christmas
Does anyone have any recommendations of a restaurant to go to on Christmas for dinner that is not serving a "Christmas dinner" or prix fixe dinner? We were hoping to find a place to order off a restaurant's regular menu. It is for a group of 5 people ranging in ages. Any type of cusine is fine, but ideally something besides Chinese food or a special Christmas dinner for tomorrow night.
Need Sushi recs. in Murry Hill area...
I would also recommend Aquamarine on 2nd Ave. if you're looking to dine out. With a waterfall in the back and and trendy decorations (for a sushi place), it's a fun place to meet friends for sushi/drinks. Also, the sushi is pretty goood and they have a bunch of interesting rolls.
Happy Hour on Sunday
Paladar is a restaurant on the LES that serves Latin/Cuban food and offers 1/2 price drinks on Sunday nights (it may only last until 7 or 8pm). I went there a few weeks ago and everyone in my group loved the food and drinks!
Favorite Healthy Meals in Manhattan
Josie's Restaurant offers a menu full of healthy options. With a variety of salads and stir fry dishes, you won't feel like you're sacrificing flavor to shed those few pounds.
Summer trip
While both of the restaurants you've been to are excellent choices, I would also recommend trying Iris for dinner. The chef, Ian Schnoebelen, won Food & Wine Magazine's 2007 Best New Chef Award. The seafood there is great well. You can see an interview with Ian at Iris in the link below as well as some of the dishes at the restaurant.

Wine Bar/Casual non trendy in NY
I would recommend MetroCafe & Wine Bar. It's located on 21st btwn Park and Broadway. They offer a large selection of wines by the glass as well as flights of wine. There is a fun atmosphere and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food there is great too if you are also looking for a bite to eat.
Bachelorette Outing! Need your advice pls
I would recommend going to Stanton Social on the LES. It's fun, trendy, and the perfect place to go with a group of people. I've been there with a group before, and our waitress recommended which items work the best for a party our size. They offer a diverse selection of small plates so there are dishes outside the typical Spanish tapas cuisine. From onion soup dumplings to sliders, there is something for everyone in your group.

My favorite black cod is served at Bann. You can see a picture of it at the link below.

Cooking classes under $60 pp for 4 people?
I went to a cooking class at Suenos and had a great time. The chef, Sue Torres, teaches everyone how to make different Mexican dishes. There is a list of the classes on the link below, and they are $50 per person.

good restaurant for group, pref. downtown?
I went to Stanton Social for a friend's bday dinner recently and everyone had a lot of fun. Everything they serve is meant to be shared, so it's an ideal place to go with a group. While they serve tapas style portions, many of the dishes are much more creative than a typical tapas dish.
Eggs Benedict Brunch
I love the lobster eggs benedict at Thalia. It is served with fruit and potatoes on the side, and the portion size is huge! It also comes with a mimosa, bloody mary, wine, or juice when you order it for brunch. You can see a picture of it at the end of the video below:

Fun restaurant for a group Friday night dinner
Last night I had a friend's Bday dinner at Stanton Social and feel that it's the perfect place for a group of friends to go out for a fun dinner. The dishes are served tapas style (meant to be shared), but they offer a variety of dishes that go beyond the typical Spanish tapas cuisine. From french onion soup dumplings to zucchini tempura, our group loved everything we tried. Save room for dessert and order the warm doughnuts...they're delicious!

Seeking Subdued Restaurant in Lower Manhattan...
You could try Duane Park Cafe in Tribeca. They serve American food in a quiet and elegant setting.

Dessert in Gramercy area?
Dip is a fondue place on 3rd between 29th and 30th. It turns into more of a bar/lounge scene late at night, but they serve food until pretty late.
good places that say NEW YORK, NEW YORK for not-too-adventurous tourists
Serendipity 3 is a very NYC place to visit. They are known for their frozen hot chocolates, but usually have long waits to sit down and eat. I'd recommend going there for a late afternoon snack since it won't be as crowded then. If you end up going there for lunch or dinner make sure to leave room for dessert! If you need to pass time while you're waiting for a table it's always fun to walk around Dylan's Candy Bar, which is on the same block.

Great Chinese for 10 in Manhattan?
Chin Chin on East 49th St. serves great Chinese food. I've eaten there with a large group (around 10 people), but do not think we had a large round table. However, we had an easy time hearing everyone at the table and did not have any problems passing around the dishes we ordered.
LCB Brasserie Rachou
I recently ate there with a group and everyone was impressed by their entrees. From fish to meat dishes, everything tasted delicious. I ordered the tuna and would go back and order the same exact dish.
I know someone that recently ate there to celebrate the anniversary of her parents, and the restaurant went out of their way to make it a special evening for them.
Late and Cheap? More NY Noodletown's needed. Even 12am close is ok.....
Nolia is a French/Asian restaurant that serves food until at least 2am every night of the week.

Fried Chicken
I agree with jth about trying Maroons. They have great fried chicken served with mac and cheese on the side. Get the cod fritters too while you're there--they're delicious!

Upper East Sushi - help!
I agree with the other posts that Sushi Senin serves great sushi on the UES. I recently ate at Geisha and enjoyed the sushi as well. If you are looking for a trendy atmosphere I would pick Geisha over Sushi Senin.
Where to take 2 college friends visiting from down south? Great food, fun atmosphere,
Two fun places to take your friends are Bao 111 and Son Cubano.
Bao 111 is a Vietnamese restaurant.
You have to try the tuna spring rolls.

Son Cubano is a Cuban/Latin restaurant.
They have live music and it has a fun/lively atmosphere. The food is great and so are the drinks.

Best Tapas in the City, any ideas?
I recently ate at Pipa and loved the tapas selection at the restaurant. I feel that they serve some of the best sangria in NYC. The staff is also extremely friendly. Our waiter had only been there for two days and we loved every dish he recommended.
Frequent visitor from SF- want small bistro style with great food
HQ in Soho would be a great bistro to try. The chef describes his restaurant as a NY Bistro with a wide selection of menu choices.
Special, New-Orleans only eats in New Orleans?
We frequent Brigtsen's on our many trips to New Orleans, thanks to the recommendations of the New Orleans Chowhounds. I saw below that you already have plans to eat at Brigtsen's during your visit....great choice! Enjoy Frank Brigtsen discussing his restaurant and the post-Katrina New Orleans restaurant scene at the link below. It'll even give you a few suggestions of what to order while you're there.

Staying in Times Square Thanksgiving week.....need ideas
Eatery is a great place to go for a casual lunch near the Times Square area.
If you're looking for a brunch place near Times Square I would recommend Thalia. The lobster eggs benedict is amazing!
Maremma?
I went to Maremma a month ago and really enjoyed my dining experience. The food was great, the decor was inviting, and I'm looking forward to a repeat visit. My group enjoyed some of the food described on the video link below.
