for tasting menus… 1st place Guy Savoy, hands down and not to be disputed. 2nd place, French Laundry. 3rd place, Mitzutani, with the vegetarian tasting menu at Per Se right on its heals, followed by Tru. Sorry – I know I hogged up space with that one, but I couldn’t help myself.
My current drink of choice:
Le Sereno Mojito - a drink concocted by the bartender at the hotel we got married at in St. Barth's - good drink, even better memories
I really wish I could:
Fed-Ex some of my favorite meals to my home and it would taste the same as it did when I was there - ex. a burger I had in Buenos Aires, pasta I had in Rome, smoked fish I had at this shack by the beach in The Seychelles.
My favorite comfort food:
A lovely glass of wine. But not to be ignored...French fries with a ton of ketchup.
My most tattered cookbooks:
That would have to be my own, which is a binder filled with severely food ridden recipe cards that I have collected and used over the years from many generations of my family in New Orleans, my husband's family in the south of France and Algeria, some of my favorite chefs from all over the world and some amazing meals my friends have shared with me. In terms of published books, I’d say River Road (I’m originally from New Orleans, so it’s a staple or the kitchen Bible in some households there).
