Trattori da Lepri in Ellington CT questions
Taking some folks there this weekend.
Is it a casual place or do men need a dress shirt or a shirt and tie on a Saturday night?
Is it best to stick to the Italian part of the menu or is it all equally delicious? Thanks!
Buying Saffron in Barcelona
We'll be in Barcelona in two weeks and have promised everyone in Boston to bring back saffron. Where's a good place to buy quality saffron threads at a good price? We're staying Gracia, but of course will be running all over the city. Thanks!
HELP! Need Back Bay Bar for Meeting New Client
I'm meeting a potential client for a drink. He's from out of state and will be at an all-day meeting near the corner of Berkeley and Boylston. Where can we meet at 5ish that is walking distance? Not too loud; not too stodgy. Thanks!
Breakfast and Lunch near Stockbridge this Sunday?
We're visiting the Rockwell Museum and the Freylinghusen House in Stockbridge on Sunday. Then heading up to Williamstown to stay over Sunday night. We have reservations at Mezze for dinner, but need some chowish meals for during the day. We'll be coming from Boston, arriving in the Berkshires around 9ish in the morning. Thanks!
HELP for this weekend in ACADIA!
20-something couple off to Acadia Nat Park for Memorial Day weekend. Where to eat? We're staying at Eden Village outside Bar Harbor and will be hiking during the day. We don't want to spend a lot of time in Bar Harbor, but will need dinner Saturday and Sunday nights. What places in Bar Harbor, and/or SW and NE Harbors will be open for the season and are Maine-ish? One of us is a newbie to Maine, lobster, and fried clams. Any good spots nearby? (If only Tidal Falls was still open!)
Also, is the A-1 still good and open for lunch? We'll be passing through Gardiner on the way to Bangor on Friday. Or is there somewhere else to stop? Thanks!
HELP! Need advice for New Haven lunch on Monday
Yes, I know this is late, but I'm coming from Boston to pick up a NY friend at the train station tomorrow. We need a lunch spot that's open on Mondays. We had planned on Louis', Sally's, or Modern, but all seem to be closed on Mondays. We've had Pepes before so are looking for something different. And it doesn't have to be burgers or pizza! Any ideas? ( BTW, if we do end up at Pepe's what will the line be like at 1:15?) Thanks!
Boston Hounds need Philly rec near South 2nd
Thanks for the suggestions so far! I was wondering--as far as atmosphere and price--are Zahav , Amada, and Fork too similar to Little Fish were we are going on Saturday night? And how about noise level at these places? On Friday we're meeting old friends from California (who are in the city for a conference) so we will need a quiet place to catch up. Is there a pub or more casual place near the hotel ? Thanks again

Hello--We're going to be in Philadelphia for Halloween weekend, staying at Thomas Bond House at 129 South 2nd Street. We have reservations for Saturday at Little Fish which sounds dee-lish. But we'd like a place in walking distance from the hotel for Friday night. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Raw Clams/Oysters for sale in Brooklyn?
Driving to Park Slope from Boston for the weekend to visit my son and would love to cook a seafood feast. Is there a good place to buy raw clams, etc. anywhere nearby? Come to think of it, we will also need some cod and monkfish for the stew I have in mind. Is there a good fishmonger in the area?
Help! Bstn hound ISO cozy cafe nr 8th+45th

I'm taking the train in from Boston to meet her for 3 or 4 hours from 11-2 ish before she heads off for a family obligation. Where can we meet not too far from the hotel to talk nonstop, have good coffee, and feel comfortable? Tasty snacks would be a bonus. Thanks!
Cocktails, etc. in South End near Tremont/SoWa?
Friends are visiting from NYC and want to explore the South End. We're having dinner one night at the B&G and another night at Union. Any suggestions for drinks beforehand near both locations? Or for that matter, afterwards? They are the ultimate New Yorkers and will be looking for "the best" atmosphere and mixology. A range from elegant to dive would be fun too. (Interesting beer list would be a hit with one of them.) Thanks!

Manchester CT--Queries about Caveys
We're going to the upstairs Italian part of Caveys on Saturday to celebrate a birthday, and wondered:
1. What's great to order?
2. What is the dress code?
3. What is the price range for entrées?
4. How are the desserts? Should we request something special in advance for the birthday girl?
Thanks!
Chow near Charleston plantations?
Hello again,
Our Charleston trip is shaping up with reservations at SNOB, and lots of Chowhound advice on Bar-b-que and seafood shacks. (Thanks!) Now we're wondering about the time we spend visiting plantations. (We'll have a car.) Does that take a whole day? Can we just do one plantation and then find a great place for lunch or dinner? Any recs on how to schedule the day as far as places to see and great food to eat? Also we can stay at King's Courtyard Inn or Harbor View Inn. Please help with any advice on quality/characteristics of those two places. Also any great breakfasts nearby these hotels? (We have a breakfast fanatic in our little group) We're not talking fancy-schmancy brunches, but good diner-type breakfasts with great coffee. Thanks!
Bostonhounds planning Charleston trip. Help!
We are celebrating my mom's 70th birthday in Charleston the first weekend in May. We all love to eat, especially seafood, especially rustic spots ala Maine lobster shacks. A few questions:
1. Best seafood places? We'll have a car and love getting off the beaten track.
2. In which area/hotel/inn should we stay to have the best access to good food and a unique Charleston experience? Do we need to be in the historic district? Is that the same as the Market district? (Is it noisy and touristy, or charming?) Or is there a Band B with delicious breakfasts?
3. Do SNOB or Hominy Grill take reservations?
3. We have four days in Charleston. Should we drive to Savannah for a day trip ? How long does it take? From the posts it doesn’t seem particularly chowish. Is there a detour to get some good bar-b-que?
Thanks so much in advance! We can't wait to get out of this gray, damp New England spring!
Lunch in Framingham near Danforth Museum?
Tomorrow I'm taking an older neighbor to the Danforth Museum. Is there anywhere nearby for soup and sandwiches? And how close is Sichuan Gourmet? Does the menu there include any milder dishes?
Early dinner near Folk Art museum?
Parents and 20-somethings checking out the American Folk Art Museum (45 West 53rd) on Saturday. We'll be there until closing at 5:30. Where can we go for a drink and then early dinner (could be two different places) that will be delicious and fun? Thanks!

HELP in Providence: Early dinner near DD Center?
Hi--We're coming from Boston to a basketball game next Wednesday night at The Dunkin Donuts Center. The game starts at 7. We want to have dinner somewhere beforehand. Any good non-pizza places open at 5:00? We think Atwells Ave is close, but will any restos be open there? What about Vendi Ravioli? We had lunch there once and it was fun. Or maybe we should try some place downtown? Thanks!!!

Hi! We're coming into town for a wedding that will take place on Sunday night and are looking for dinner recs close to 5th St (between 8th Ave and Prospect Park W) for Saturday. We've heard 7th Ave has lotsa spots, but which ones? Also it's supposed to be windy and pouring, so a shorter walk might be the ticket. And of course we need a place that doesn't require a rez. Then on Sunday we need a light lunch, not brunch, spot. TIA

Help! Dinner near Dedham?

Boston Hound needs Chelsea resto ala Red Cat
Help! Coming to town on Thursday for an 8 o'clock event at 11th Avenue and 21st. We planned on eating at Red Cat (a favorite from past visits) but they can't fit in our party of 10 at 6pm. Are there any other comparable places in the vicinity? How's Bottino?
