Please help with restaurant choices, too many choices, not enough time!

Question for you guys - my friend told me to skip Naoe because it is not so different from some of the smaller NY Japanese omakase restaurants (like Kyo Ya, etc...). He likes Naoe - but doesn't think we should make a trip of going up for there for it - instead he thinks we should find something that we can't get or do not have yet in NYC. Like Hakkasan (I didn't realize it was high end contemporary Chinese - I just looked at the menu - ouch! If they do it well, like the ones in Shanghai or Beijing - I'm happy to give it a try - however, I sure will be unhappy if at those prices they send out Americanized Chinese food). There are no modern Chinese restaurants in NYC and it has been awhile since I was last in Asia.
Thanks for the recommendation on Pubbelly. My two favorite types of foods, Asian and Spanish.
Sorry for all the indecisions. Its hard picking restaurants when you know you won't be back in town for awhile. Can't decide on sticking to old favorites or trying new ones.

Day 1
Lunch - Joe's (old favorite)
Dinner - Naoe or Hakkasan (good Japanese but perhaps something I can get in NYC vs. good chinese (BIG QUESTION mark))

Day 2
Brunch - Michaels (old favorite for dinner, first time for brunch)
Dinner -Pubbelly or Cecconi/Casa Tua (interesting food vs. "miami" ambiance)

Day 3
Lunch - TBD (actually, I realized that I have been to Sardinia too but didn't get the steak - and we went for lunch) might do a repeat here on Day 3. Thinking perhaps it would be a good idea to do something easy and realiable before getting on a plane. Have had a bad experience eating bad sushi right before a 13 hour flight and another bad experience eating a from a hole in the wall SF mexican restaurant. Don't care to repeat that. :)

Eating near Adventura, NE Miami.

I'm not from Miami but have been there with 4 kids. We have taken them to Hiro's Yakko - San (go early or be prepared to wait), Bourbon Steak (went early and sat in the Lounge, perhaps that is called the Burger Bar?) and Petit Rouge (go early). I didn't think Gourmet Diner was that great and would probably not go there again. Perhaps they were having an off night. There is another place called Anthony's Coal Oven Pizza if your kids are younger and want a Pizza night (the kids were practically begging for this after a week of intense eating).

Thanks for your help! I think we have been to El Ray de Chivito - is this the artery clogging sandwich place? We went there for lunch - it was great! I will probably get a car - and do the drives myself.

For lunch on day 3 - I think I will hit a cuban place on the way to the airport - the only cuban place I have been to is puerto suaga-maybe I'll try out Versaille (despite the lukewarm reviews). Furthermore, I might be on a Naoe high and probably best to stick to non Japanese for the rest of weekend.

For Joe's - do you mean I should get the Alaskan crab claws instead of legs? Will they have stone crabs (frozen ones)?

Still need one more dinner - maybe Sardinia (what is the scene)?

Please help with restaurant choices, too many choices, not enough time!

Hello, I'm having a hard time deciding between these restaurants - this is not my first time in Miami - but probably will be another 2 years before my next trip so I want to make sure I get the right mix of restaurants. In our previous trips we have tried Michy's, Michael's, Joe's, Yakko San, Solea +Mr. Chow (only because we were staying in the hotel, not out of choice), Hakkasan, Puerto Sagura, Hiro, Bourbon Steak

We are staying in the high 60's and Collins with no plans for a car. However, if we are looking at $60 cab rides for each meal, I will reconsider and get a car. There is just no place to eat around our hotel except for cheaper local ethnic restaurants.

Day 1
Lunch - Joe's (we will be there beginning of September - should I skip Joe's altogether? I know it is not the season but read about the Alaskan crabs legs...). Love Joe's, I think I will almost be mad at myself for not going there

Dinner - Naoe (though might be too far of a cab ride? Mapquest says 11 minutes, last time we tried to walk in for the last seating...didn't work)

Day 2
Brunch - Michaels

Dinner - TBD (we have never done the SOBE scene before, except for an ill fated stay at the W so thought it might be fun to try a restaurant that is in the hotel in case we want to stay for post dinner drinks). However, I do not want to sacrifice food for ambiance - so maybe which one has the best food?

Day 3
Lunch - TBD

The restaurants that I would like to try Hakkasan (actually, not really, not into Pan Asian but will make an exception if someone tells me it is really good), Casa Tua, Cecconi's, Sugarcane. We are from NYC so would like to avoid sister restaurants (Bond, Scarpetta, Nobu, unless the one in MIami is better than NYC). Thanks for your help! Too many choices, not enough time!

Dinner suggestions for Needham - Wellesley area

Would you mind telling me what you order there (off menu)? The dishes we have ordered from there have been very Americanized...

Beijing Star in Waltham - Recc's

Sounds good. I can't believe I haven't been here yet. It has been on my list for 2 years now. Hopefully I can get there this weekend.

Beijing Star in Waltham - Recc's

Thanks! Is the hand pulled noodle soup - really authentic? I haven't had this dish in years - is the Chinese menu only in Chinese - my chinese is a little rusty...

Beijing Star in Waltham - Recc's

Hi all,
I have been thinking of heading over to Beijing Star in Waltham for a meal. Any recommendations on what to order? I read from previous posts that there are two menus and will definitely ask for the Chinese menu. I heard the breakfast was good as well - better than Shangri-la?

Formosa Taipei

Really? Can we eat in here? Thinking about heading here with some friends but not sure about the atmosphere. Doesn't need to be fancy but if there are only a couple of tables, don't want to have to wait.

Birthday dinner with water views?

Thanks everyone. I made a reservation at Dante , too bad it is the middle of winter and we can't dine on the patio!

Birthday dinner with water views?

Hello,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a quiet and romantic waterfront/view restaurant? We moved out of Boston 5 years ago - so the only places I can think of are the hotels on the water. Are anyone of them worth going too? The only one I can think of is Meritage.

Our favorite restaurant in town is Cragie. And we also love all types of ethnic food - very adventurous eaters. I am tempted to bag the waterfront request and head over to Sorrelina instead.

Thanks!

Gazpacho Ice Cream (from Top Chef LV?)

I'm very tempted to try making the Gazpacho Ice Cream (using an ice cream maker instead of liquid nitrogen). Michael V. gave a demo in his video on bravo.com Has anyone tried this? Better recipes? Tips?

Cape Cod - Grocery shopping/farmstands/speciality stores

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I'll try Orleans farmers market and Stop and Shop. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Cape Cod - Grocery shopping/farmstands/speciality stores

Hi all , we are heading to the Cape next week - Truro area and wanted to get some feed back on where everyone gets their produce, bread, meat from.

Our rental starts at Saturday - so we are heading to the Cape early (to avoid traffic) from Boston. Looking for a good place to eat lunch, pick up groceries before heading up to Truro.

Last year we bought a lot of groceries from the Grand Union in Provincetown but was not that impressed and prices were high. How is the Trader Joes in Hyannis? or the Orleans farmers market? Trying to come up with an itinerary. I guess I can purchase a bunch of stuff in Boston before heading to the Cape but I'm worried about the produce sitting in the car from 8:00am to 3:00pm!

Also, last year we visited Terra Luna for dinner and thought it was great - I was wondering if someone would be able to compare Black Fish to Terra Luna. Is it loud in Black Fish? i.e. if we took our 3 month old baby would it be inappropriate? If so, is there another spot we should try? Wicked oyster in wellfleet or somewhere in Provincetown (Red Inn? Mews?) I want to go to a nice dinner (annivesary) but with baby in tow, I need to make sure the dining room is not completely hush and quiet. The baby is pretty good - just hangs out in her carseat, sleeping...

Miami/Key West food intinerary

Am feeling like my choices are heavy on the "higher end restaurants" and light on the "cheap eats/ethnic" category if I take out Chivitos...are there better/other choices?

Miami/Key West food intinerary

Thanks for the coffee place, we will definitely need a place to refuel before heading up back to Miami. . I'm intrigued by the Taqueria place. We love tacos. Is this a truck or a restaurant? I can't seem to find much on it through googling.

Miami/Key West food intinerary

Thanks! I think Alabama Jacks' might be too out of the way for us. Key Fisheries over Calyspo?

Miami/Key West food intinerary

What do you mean by "out of commission". Do you mean that I might have a stomache or that it is so heavy I won't be able to eat anything but water the rest of the day? My dinner reservations are booked around 7:00 so I don't want to spoil dinner! How is the outdoor seating from Michael's. I would love to sit out side and enjoy the nice weather but obviously don't want to be looking into a parking lot!
The only reason I have Ortanique for dinner is because it is a little out of the way for us, what about skipping Ortanique altogether and doing Talula for lunch, Sardinia for dinner?

Miami/Key West food intinerary

Hello,
I'm almost done with my "eating" intinerary for Miami/Key West. Please let me know if I'm missing any key places to eat! Will be staying around 69 and Collins in Miami. Have a car!

Need to pick one of these places for lunch:
*Marathon Keys Fishery, 3502 Gulfview Ave, Marathon, FL‎ - (305) 743-4353
*Calypso, Key Largo, 1 Seagate Blvd, Key Largo, FL, (305) 451-0600 ‎

Top choices are Marathon Keys Fishery or Calpso - don't want to venture too far off the path since need to meet up with boat at a certain time.

Day 2 - Driving from Little Torch Keys to Miami
Need to find a cafe with awesome coffee (like Baby's or Sandy's) to stop for snack/bathroom break but not necessarily a full meal since lunch is already taken care of.

Dinner: Michy's (is it better to sit inside or outside?)

Day 4

Dinner: Sra.Martinez

Day 6
Lunch: Sardinia or Talula or Joe's Stone Crab again (I love crab!)

Yakko San. Gourmet Diner. River Oyster Bar. Jaguar. Should I swap out some meals for other restaurants on my list? Am I overlooking someone?

Miami: Restaurants in Sunny Isle and SOBE

Thanks for everyone's response. In my research, I saw someone post regarding this place:
"One which we like is Lula's Kebobs in the RK shopping center at 180th and Collins. Terrific borscht and chicken soup with pelmenis"
Neptune – 171 Sunny Isles Blvd. ; seafood restaurant – moderately priced;
Tatiana – 1710 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd –pretty expensive, very elaborate atmosphere;
Sugar Rush Café, 18090 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach;
Hope that helps!

Miami: Restaurants in Sunny Isle and SOBE

Thanks for your reply and the awesome map! We will be there for a full week and being the nutty person I am, I usually have a list of breakfast, lunch, dinner places (and back up plans in case the place is too crowded or closed) that corresponds with our daily itinerary. When I started mapping all the places out, everything looked so far and a couple of my friends had said that the traffic during Art Basel was terrible. I guess I was trying to figure out a location that would be the epicenter for food as well as being a reasonable distance to the Art Basel/Art Miami. We are looking for a mix of cuban food and not to be missed Miami cuisine (we have lived in SF, Houston, NYC, Boston, Chicago). Any rec's for other restuarants?

Miami: Restaurants in Sunny Isle and SOBE

Hello,
We are heading to Miami for the Art Basel in December and have opted to stay in the Sunny Isle area (to get away from the crowds and party scene). However, as I started my search for restaurants, I was only able to find a few chow worthy reccomendations for that area (Il Mulino, Timo, Yakko San, Gourmet Diner); the majority of the restaurants that are on our list (Michy's , Michael's Genuine, Andu , Ortanique, Sardinia, Joes Stone Crab as well as an assortment of cheaper cuban joints) are so far away. While I don't mind driving, I'm afraid the traffic congestion will maybe not make it worth it. So two questions: Are there more restuarants that I am missing on my list (i.e. more ethnic cuban/russian places) for the Sunny Isle area? Or should I bite the bullet and stay in SOBE (or Bricknell, Bar Harbour) so I can be closer to the restaurant scene?

Chinese Breakfast that opens early?

Yup. We have being alternating between Clear Flour Bread and the Turkish Family Restaurant (can't recall exact name). Wanted to switch it up for the month of August!

Chinese Breakfast that opens early?

Thanks. I didn't want to go into Boston to eat since I'm coming in from the western suburbs amd going to the Brookline area to pick up my CSA. I'll check out Super88, Wisteria House.

Chinese Breakfast that opens early?

Does anyone know of a Chinese Breakfast place (not dimsum and not in Chinatown) that opens in the morning (i.e. before 11:00am). I have called Mulan, Shangri La, Shabu Village (wrong number?), Beijing Star so far and they all open around 11:30am. Does anyone the food places in Super 88 serve breakfast?

Fresh Bacon Slab Recipes?

Hello,
I received a whole slab of fresh bacon from the Stillman meat CSA. Does anyone have a good receipe for this? Never cooked a slab of bacon before. Is this the same thing as pork belly?

Anniversary restaurant on Cape (please help choose)

Thanks for the suggestions. We don't mind driving - but just wasn't sure if 30 + minutes was worth it. Looks like there are a lot of votes for Wicked Oyster!

Anniversary restaurant on Cape (please help choose)

I have looked thru the board for a nice restaurant for our 5 year anniversary dinner. We are going to be staying in the Wellfleet/Truro area - so would prefer to stay up there but if there are restaurants that are significantly better than the ones in Provincetown/Truro/Wellfeet we are willing to drive.

Please help me choose between these restaurants

Provincetown
Cafe Edwige

Truro
Terra Luna

Welfleet
Wicked Oyster

Harwichport
28 Atlantic, Wequasett Inn

Dennisport
Ocean House

Also if there is a reccomendation for a casual brunch place that will easily seat 11 in Provincetown (and that is also child friendly) - maybe with a view, that would be awesome!

Intinerary for Half Moon Bay, SF

Thanks, we will definitely go to Duartes but save that trip for dinner. What is the name of the place across the street from Barbara's? Also I'm looking for a place to take out dinner as we drive from San Francsico Airport to Santa Rosa?

Intinerary for Half Moon Bay, SF

Hello, I wanted to run a list of restaurants by everyone and ask one question.

We are going to the Santa Rosa area and driving down to Half Moon Bay. Originally, I planned to do a stop over for lunch at Duartes Tavern - but after gmapping it I realized it is further south of the Ritz Carlton. So do you have any suggestions for a place to eat halfway point between Santa Rosa and Half Moon Bay (but not in San Francisco?).

As for the trip, I have the following listed as places to try, please let me know if I am missing something:

Half Moon Bay Area
Duartes
Tres Amigos
30 Cafe
Barbara's Fishtrap (I know there is mixed feelings regarding this one but we are from the New England area and I want to try California style fish and chips)
Pasta Moon
